Try Before You Buy | Reynatis Demo Impressions

Many on the internet are saying that after playing the demo for Reynatis they are cancelling their preorder. They say it's a lazy Switch port with bad combat, but I don't exactly agree.

I don't get why people freak out about graphics. As long as the gameplay is good, I think that'd all tat matters. I'll give the demo a try, whenever I get time to play games again 😂

@@DJRiyzen the demo takes about an hour and I think it's a good representation of what to expect. Personally graphics arent the biggest thing to me, but FuRyu really hasn't been making a lot of upgrades in that area for a while and it's due imo, so I get their complaints a bit. Still for what it is I think it looks like I'll enjoy it.

Graphics absolutely matter. An ugly game can turn people off from it or even worsen the experience for the player while good or appealling graphics will enhance the user experience often increasing the games immeseriveness . I think what you mean is graphics fidelity.

@@mpmedia6735 tell that to the games like anthem or the order they have beautiful graphics but the gameplay or story sucks, for me I prefer always a good story and gameplay if I only interest in graphics I would never play nes or n64 they are ugly but fun to play

Well, I will buy after I played. I really like the approach to magic in a modern setting. I mean I freaking played 800h of stellaris. A strategy game with minimum graphics. Everybody should buy what they want. I will spend my little time on this JRPG (Which is not made for the west and I find it great), instead of spending time with some soulless AAAA Games.

I gave it a try and I thought the graphics were fine, the gameplay is.... unique, they tried to make it spectacular but it feels a bit worky, not bad but not super polished. The stpry is interesting, if I get the game it's going to be because of the story, although a little predictable I like the themes.

i'd wayger the SE allumni brought onto the project raised an eyebrow for some. from my own experience the combat feels like a mix between the button mashing from Kingdom Hearts and the ability spam of Neo TWEWY, the lead dev has said Nomura's work were his inspiration so it makes sense to see ellements of that here, the game evokes imagery of the title that never was, Verses XIII, another title Nomura was involved with till it became FFXV. i suspect due to this inspiration from specific Square Enix titles, along with Allumni associate with Square Enix itself (ie Yoko Shimommura, the composer for Kingdom Hearts & FFXV/VS XIII & Nojima, the writer of a few SE titles, including Kingdom Hearts.) and as a result expectations were raised to a height that was not the intention of the lead dev, to me its a love letter to those types of games and theres nothing wrong with that. as for graphical complaints, i admit i chalk that up to modern day expectations of visual fidelity, even been seeing people use "Oh, this looks like a PS2 title" as an insult mainly, which is annoying as nowadays you end up with some games that are visual wonders but with gameplay thats simplified or just doesnt satisfy like older titles do. yes i did really enjoy the demo, been looking forward to this game cause of what it evokes mechanically and tonally.

The combat looks like those 2 games but unfortunately doesn’t feel nearly as refined as KH &TWEWY. I’m looking to play this game as a filler between other game releases and I didn’t have big expectations for this game either. Plays exactly how I expected based on pre release. Not amazing, but gets the job done and I do enjoy its inspirations from series I like.

Bruh combat in this game is baddddddddd and the whole switch from dodging to attacking will end this game before release lol

I saw where the ratings, at least for the PS5 demo, were sitting at like a 2.90 with 530 ratings, which is pretty bad. I think 54% of the people who rated it gave it two stars or one star. I wasn't sure why exactly? I still need to try the demo out for myself. I'll admit the visuals look pretty bad, but if it's a Switch port then I can understand that. I just wasn't sure if people were giving it such a low rating because it's a lazy port? Or because they just genuinely didn't like the combat. I feel like it has more to do with the laziness of the port/visuals.

It's definitely not a game for everyone, which is something I say about anything I've played that's published by FuRyu. There's not a lot of mainstream appeal. It's a very niche anime game is my best description. It doesn't have any of the flair and substance that a lot of people expect. I can't really accurately guess why the PS5 demo reviews are that low though.
