I own one of these and they are very easy to fly. Great for a first plane. Only problem I had with it is the cheap charger usb cable broke after about 10 charges, but WL toys did send me a new upgraded charger for free. It did take about 90 days to get to me from China though.

Had one of these back in the day, they were notoriously under powered , couldnt get any lift without a direct headwind .. is the f949 "s" model any different? Mine had 3 small dc motors connected to a shaft

For the price it seems to be a VERY nice plane ! Excellent as THE FIRST plane ! Seems quite slow and tail heavy, but that is OK for a beginner ... ! Eachine Mini Cessna is better .... but quite more expensive .... Volantex Sport Cub 500 is still better .... My favourite in this price range Cheers !

Almost any transmitter can be used. Just plug the battery to the plane, press bind and power on your reciver and it will bind it. FlySky FSi6 no problem, same with my Spectrum DX6e *edit* I got this plane used and it was sold with a different reciver, it's possible that the written will not work.

@@e30kitty The original Wltoys F949 (with no gyro) used a board with Flysky protocol. This new F949S (with gyro) uses a board with a sub-protocol of MT99XX. A very few folks have modified the plane by removing the electrics and replacing them with a Spektrum board. Some of these have gyros, some not and some even have brushless motors! The plane thus produced will fly very well - at about 2-3 times the cost of the original plane! ;-)

Why is this one not flying level? It looks like it is straining to keep the nose up... Mine flies level and if at this angle I would be climbing fast for a little Cessna. It also comes with Tricycle gear. Perhaps the nose wheel will balance it out by moving the CG back under the wing spar. Mine is well balanced and very easy to fly and land properly and I am a horrible pilot (learning)

One point to watch - the rudder is on the left hand stick, most people I know use the right hand stick for the roll axis for 3 channel if there is no aileron. I use rudder on the right for roll axis - the video shows rudder on right hand stick so I don't know if it is possible to change this, but there is nothing in the instructions ?

I guess you are in US. In my experience most pilots in UK and Europe fly Mode 2. Throttle left.

@@EssentialRC Thanks, my mistake, only the LCD display shows it as aileron on right stick, rudder on left, when I connected it up it does, in practice work the rudder on the right stick, so it won't be a problem after all.

Did you trim it for a high AoA or is that how it's designed to fly? Just looked very tail down throughout the flight. Is the wing loading too high for the wing area that size of aircraft can practically have, so they cheat by tuning the stabilisation to fly with high AoA to add enough lift?

That's how it flies. I put it together and flew it at the field. Some scope for moving the battery position, maybe trimming it out better, but I think it flew well enough for a cheap RC at the toy end of the market.

Nice video, this is a great beginners plane that flying very well, and don't even need a gyro) I have the F949 older version of this plane, for 3 years, and it is still flying good (except the motor performance is started degrading). I bounded it with my T8SG jumper TX. I have a question, do you know what's different between F949S versus the F949? Does this new version also can bind with the T8SG jumper TX?

I got the older version for my boys and it's had lots of crashes with no damage , the older one has no stabilization so I'm guessing is harder to fly but it's still an easy plane to fly as long as you stick to light wind days

I got mine today. Its very twitchy and impossible to fly without stabilisation turned on. Turn it off and the plane banks left and nose up. I adjusted the trim to counteract this but then I have hardly no control. I know its only a cheap plane but I expected better. Any ideas?

Check control surfaces are neutral before flying and they move correctly

Still no luck. With the issues I have with this aircraft, I don't think this is a good trainer. It's too small and twitchy. In hindsight I would have put a bit more money toward a larger trainer as at the end of the day I aim to fly a 1500mm wingspan plane anyway. It's good for a bit of fun but that's about it.

Pity they've chosen to keep that dumb 3 motor drive system there Dom. Bad enough with only 1 motor pinion to press sand into the main gear and a single brushed motor to replace periodically, :( My non stabilized one flies quite well but in this end of the market Volantex/Eachine rules - especially now that they have finally fixed the flyaway problem.
