You said that you didn’t understand why Laurens’ death set off a chain reaction... That’s actually historically accurate. After Johns death, Hamilton shut off an emotional part in his mind he never opened again. They were so close and his death basically broke Alexander. Also, a man that can write 51 essays in six months. One who was known for writing. He could barely bear to write a few paragraphs about John after his death. If you listen to hurricane workshop...Lin wrote a lyric that said, “the friend who could stop me from doing this is in the ground”. Hamilton definitely had a history of depression and it got even worse bc of Laurens’ death. So, Johns death really did make Hamilton’s life take a depressing turn. He was a completely different person after.

TBH, I did cry at Laurens in the Bathroom. It's hard for someone you know, someone you care about, someone who deeply means something to you walk away from everything as if it all meant nothing. Yes, I understand that homosexuality was a death sentence and forbidden back then, but it still hurts. Even then, it hurts more to know that in real life, it was painful for Hamilton when Laurens died, so painful to the point where he shut himself away from everyone, even Eliza for 2 days straight, then he drowned himself in his work, and he never opened up as much to anyone, man or woman, as he had done to Laurens. Now excuse me while I go cry some more, and then blame it on my seasonal allergies...
