We have officially arrived in Jakarta Indonesia! I’m so excited to try as much Indonesian food as I possibly can during our time here. Being that I’m not too familiar with Indonesian cuisine, I did a little research and found this list of the Top 5 National Dishes of Indonesia from the Ministry of Tourism ‪@Kemenparekraf‬. I thought this list would be a good way to start my food journey here in Indonesia. The Top 5 foods consisted of, Sate, Soto, Nasi Goreng, Gado Gado, and Rendang.
To help me accomplish my mission, I needed to find a location where I would locate all Top 5 foods on this list. I took a guess and went to Blok M Square ‪@BlokMSquareTM‬ to see if we can find all the foods from the list. If you want to see if I found all the foods, be sure to watch till the end.

Indonesia is one of the few countries in South East Asia I haven't had a chance to visit yet and my knowledge of the country's fantastic looking food is woefully limited. Covering their national dishes was a brilliant introduction - informative and entertaining, as always! It appears to be an intriguing mix of both the familiar and unfamiliar. Ahaha, love the misunderstanding! 🤣 Yeah, I bet she thought you were asking for ‘dendeng.’ The ‘A’ In Indonesian is always pronounced like the ‘a’ in ‘father,’ so the ‘-dang’ part of ‘rendang’ sounds a bit like ‘dung’ in English. The ‘e’ in ‘rendang’ is a schwa, similar to the ‘a’ in ‘sofa’ or the ‘e’ in ‘syringe,’ but there’s not an exact English equivalent for the whole syllable.

9:25 That's not rendang, but dendeng. Rendang is that brown soaked beef at 12:52. When you pronounced it in English accent they'll have a high chance to misheard it instead of "r-uh-n d-ah-ng (rəndɑːŋ) they heard . The way you pronounced it too similar with another dish"d-eh-n d-eh-ng (dəndæŋ)". The "A" in Indonesian is similar to Dutch/Deutsch "A" like Ja, or similar with "Ah!" expression in American English. You still should try rendang next time, as there is no good rendang abroad except there. And it's not morning glory but cassava leaves.

Yes, you got me. My pronunciation is terrible, when it comes to Indonesian. Still working on that. But the dendeng was delicious and all the food I had this day was awesome. I'll definitely be trying rendeng. And thank you for the clarification on the cassava leaves. I appreciate it!

Nice vids nice review but unfortunately you mistaken dendeng for rendang and best satay is madura satay ..the rest all great it tells by your face reaction when you scoop it..other top notch food to try are martabak, bakso, mie ayam, ketoprak, rawon, tongseng, nasi uduk, bubur ayam, .. Indonesian people will loves you
