This video is proof that it's really not about the gear. It's about what you shoot. (̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶l̶s̶o̶ ̶a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶h̶o̶w̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶e̶d̶i̶t̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶p̶o̶s̶t̶)̶

So many times I saw people saying their pictures didn't turn out well because of the camera. It's not about the tech but the skill
@marcd73325 жыл бұрын
For beginners gear is not that important since they have to learn the basics first, once you learn the basics and decide what type of photography you like then gear becomes important. You can’t take a picture of a lion with a 24mm lens (I mean you can but good luck with that), you can’t make huge prints with a 6mpx camera, you can’t photograph weddings or events at night without a flash and a wide angle lens and you can’t take a close up of the moon with a 16mm lens. Gear is important, specially if you are getting paid to deliver the best you can.
@krisdeaglephotography45395 жыл бұрын
@@marcd7332 I think we OP was getting at here, is that it didn't matter if he shot on this disposable or a 35mm, with equivalent film, focal length and shutter speed, the photos would be more or less the same. Of course, gear is important depending on your context but if he shot an X700 with the same 800 speed film with the same shutter speed and focal length as whatever the disposable had and then shot it again with the disposable, you'd probably find the differences are negligible, if any. Why pay all that money for gear, if a cheap disposable does the job? Buy whatever you can afford that does the job you need it to do and as long as your skills are there, you'll be fine. I love shooting surf photos on my D3400 with a 70-300 f4.5-6.3 and can still get great images. Sure, having a better body would help as I would have more focus points, faster frame rate and autofocus that's actually useful and on a full frame body, I could get a lens with a fixed aperture, too. However, I can't afford that, so I make do. Sure, it is a bit more difficult using my gear and would be millions of times easier with better gear but you wouldn't know based on the photos alone.
@comandosespeciales4 жыл бұрын
@@marcd7332 Don't worry mate, I get you. The right tool for the right job. These disposable cameras are fine for a youtube video, not for a safari. It's not like a pro camera with a pro lens takes the picture for you anyways (at least not yet).

I think its more to do with enjoying the process and the idea of not knowing what will come out, rather than the image itself. Plus, if you develop your own rolls, it makes the hobby so much more better, so yeah.

@Bobby Brady I grew up in the late 90s and 2000s homie so I wasn't talking about then but go off.
@TheRangerFox5 жыл бұрын
@Bobby Brady It's a subjective medium so inferior is really in the eye of the beholder. You're more than likely right that his style will change, but I don't think it matters how. I think, too, that whether or not something is a waste of money and time is completely up to that person. I appreciate that you go out of your way to look at film photos, even if you have your bias. Personally, I like some of his photos and dislike some. Personally, I also enjoy the process of shooting on film and the results it provides and as such don't see it as a waste of either time or money. Clearly you don't. That's fine. Agree to disagree. As an aside, I shoot digital as well. I don't think either is better or worse overall. They are different, and I think there's a place for both. There are times where I want the more clean, clinical look that my mirrorless camera or my dslr give me, and there are times that I want to take advantage of the limitations of my 35mm cameras. It comes down to style and personal choice on a given day. Preference is never stupid when it comes to art, even when it may seem like it from a purely logical point. I see where you're coming from, and disagree I think mostly from an idealogical point. I have enjoyed hearing your point, though, and hope you heard mine. You're not wrong for having your opinions, just as I'm not for having mine. I think the fact that we're having this discussion at all is good! Glad we're both passionate.
