So interesting to hear how sad and uncomfortable and worried you are about the coming winter! I feel the same way about summer - absolutely dreading the thought of sweating and feeling lethargic and exhausted and zapped of my life force in the heat. I look forward to the winter! Grew up in Chicago so I’m used to bad winter but man having small kids in Boston was just the worst. Autumn there was spectacular but I could barely enjoy it because I so dreaded winter. Except my last autumn before moving where I literally didn’t know what to do with myself minus the winter dread. People here in London still complain in the winter and I just roll my eyes. Yes it gets grey here but I never get literally snowed in like in the North East. I’d be happy there if I could book it after Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I'm so sorry that you suffer in the winter. It took me until I was 58 to have the means and the courage to get out of Minnesota in the winter. Eight years later, I have a small affordable place in a lovely community in Mesa, Arizona. I leave November 1 and return the middle of April. no more dread! I really hope that you are able to do this sooner than later. Please don't wait until you're 58 like I did. There are lots of ways to make it work if you are flexible. I know you have a child and that makes it much much more complicated. You probably wouldn't be able to live in two places. But still,creativity goes along way toward creating a solution

That Fawn eyeshadow palette is definitely a situation where the reason you don't like something is the reason I like it. I have a slightly cooler, rosier complexion than you and have darker brown hair, and the pinkiness and ashiness of that palette makes it sound like great colors for me. I've been looking for a nice quad with some brown and pink and Fawn looks to be it (though it's really a quad +2, haha), and i love something that has a little bit of matte or a little bit of shimmer but nothing super shimmery or sparkly. I appreciate a thorough Kackie review for exactly this reason.

Same! Summer & the sun send me into rage & irritability. I can't do anything outdoors without sweating & feeling overheated. My makeup starts to breakdown. Cooking becomes an extreme sport. My pits smell like raw onions 24/7. I am a menace to all I know between July - November (I'm in SoCal & a heatwave around Thanksgiving is not unusual). Don't invite me to do anything outdoors then bc I will decline & if I can't decline, I am insufferable. See you when the temps dip into the low 70s! 👋🏽

I feel you on such a deep and spiritual level when it comes to dreading seasonal changes. I have a super aggressive genetic blood clotting disorder that’s left me with about 50% blood flow in my right leg, and when the temps drop, the pain goes through the roof, sometimes requiring hospitalization for the good drugs. We won’t even get into the stress of being the glass child to my siblings’ golden status during the holidays. My ideal holiday season is staying at home with my wife and pretending the rest of the world doesn’t exist. So I definitely understand where you’re coming from, though I’m sorry you have to experience that. At any rate, thanks for being a bright spot in my day; watching you work is both entertaining and a respite.

Doll Dynasty is my first foray into Hindash territory, and ohmygosh. I am categorically not a highlighter girlie for the same reason I'm not a glowy primer girlie- I have oily skin, and therefore "glow" is inevitable. But, as I said before, ohmygosh. It's stunning. Inner corner highlight? Yes, Eyeshadow topper? Absolutely. Sheer, radiant, non-glittery, smooth hint of luminosity on my non-existent cheekbones? Incredible. Best makeup purchase I've made this year.

Thank you for the realness about your crying bout in the Uber. I needed to hear that. While my circumstance is a bit different, I literally teared up at the nail salon yesterday because the service was so poor. I sat soaking off my dip powder for 45 minutes before someone came over the start my nails and I was done. Holding back tears as the service continued to get worse. I was supposed to get a pedicure too but didn’t have time. I full on CRIED telling my partner about it later. Wtf? Could that sound anymore privileged? I have way worse problems to worry about but this is what set me off. Well, my period started today so I feel a smidge better about being so unhinged. Thanks again for giving this space to share. Hey! I will be going home to Japan after 7 years. Although I felt guilt going back, it has been the best decision I have ever made and I have never been so excited and happy about this transition. Going back does not mean failure, always put your happiness as the most important thing, and if moving back home will be what makes you happy (the people, the weather, the routines) then pursue that! I hope you will feel better and tell yourself that you have the right to be happy :)

Supporting you from afar through your dread, it’s the worst feeling - where I live is a super mild winter (south Louisiana) but the shorter days are a living nightmare. We’re in a hilarious sweet spot right now where hurricane season is at it’s worst, but the heat isn’t killing us (unless a hurricane knocks out electricity lol). I paradoxically get depressed in the peak of summer because going outside is hell so I stay holed up wasting all that light. The winter into spring transition is magical though, looking forward to that in about 6 months😅

First, take my money, would definitely pre-order your bedroom eyes brown palette. But in the short term, i wpnder if there's a reasonable way to do a video of like existing shadows that could be pulled into a pallete and some adjustments for lighter/darker/redder hair. Kinda like Hannah used to do duping those duping the vibes videos. Even the end product isn't a palette per se, but like what would your thought process be? How light and dark would you go? Would you put some mattes in for depth and shape? How would you think about warm vs cool tones? Etc. etc. etc.

I bought 3 of the LE palettes plus a few extra singles when she launched the original collections. I was so taken with the packaging I HAD to have half of it. I have dry skin but very hooded eyelids that are the only freaking thing on my face that has any oil to them (plus I wear a lot of hydrating skincare which I don't put on my lids but it still makes it's way to them I think). I love to swatch her shadows but they are too creamy! They don't last for shit on my eyes and by noon, my eyeshadow looks like trash. I also hate how creamy they are so when you pick up with a brush or makes the pans look all beat to hell. Long story short, I won't be buying anymore of her powder/pan shadows again. I really like quite a dry and powdery. Makeup by Mario has a formula I like, Viseart is great. But LE and Chanel, some of Charlotte Tillbery don't work for me. They crease (even with the most bullet proof, oil blocking plus setting with powder first) and disappear by mid day. Not cute. The Hindash highlighter is nice but just ok. I actually much prefer to pink Gucci one. I understand he is a friend so you see his work through a different lense. The packaging is so bulky and it is very glittery. It is translucent but do know it is glitter. Even glitter flecks end up all over the compact. I wouldn't return it but I wouldn't buy it again.

The thing that gets me about winter isn't the light or the cold, but the lack of humidity. Static shocks run my life from October to April. Going around rapping on everything like a weirdo, but I've been shocked by the wall, the floor, the loaf of bread. I wrap myself around my humidifier the way others wrap themselves around their thermostats.

I get really bad seasonal depression during fall but not winter, my insurance won't cover anything unless I "act" on my depression so I do what I can myself. I found if I accept the fact that I'm going to be sad it tends to pull me out of the pit of despair faster. I watch shows that are a bit melancholy and listen to things that deal with sadness more all while I engage in comfort things (warm blankets, tea, cuddles with pets and family). It's not as bad as it used to be and I hope every year I can lessen the blow for myself.

@@EXOmakemeHorololo I have found that it helps me. It may not help you. Allowing myself to be sad has helped me immensely , I have to be very deliberate about it though. Like Autumn sadness is also a season, it will be here and it be be gone. I think the key is being very kind and comforting to yourself while working through the sadness. Treat yourself with the same kindness you would your best friend.

Last year I started going for 20-30min walks on my lunch breaks. Basically every day. It helped my SAD so much. I highly recommend getting dressed, going outside and getting some of whatever sun you can.

Dearest Kackie, as a native Californian from Orange County, I lived in New York for 4 years and the culture shock did not shock me that much, buncha people everywheres at all hours of the day and night - but the weather- those frigid winters and days on end without a ray of sunlight- really did a number on me and ultimately drove me back home. I am usually FINE most of the time, but I dread the change in season from summer to fall and I dread the change in season from spring to summer. Why? I. don't. know. But every single year since my early 20's it happens and every single year I'm like wtf? This spring I sat in an uber and listened to Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights on repeat for 30 minutes while crying. I think it's the change. I hate spring, but I hate change more. Summer to fall usually hits harder, but I haven't cried to Kate Bush yet... it's coming.

Yes to the happy light!! My dr also had me start taking calcium, magnesium, d3, potassium & zinc. Lemme tell you, it has made an absolutely incredible transformation in my mental health. I'm sad it took nearly three decades for me to find out that VITAMINS were the key to me getting a handle on my mental health. 😭💀💜

Kackie, you are a breath of fresh air! Your upfront presentation of products are very much appreciated! I also have Seasonal Affect Disorder. I lived in the dismal town of Erie, PA for 25 years. Loved my friends but hated the lack of diversity, amenities and Sun!! I couldn’t even enjoy Autumn because what was around the corner…Winter! Moved to Southern California following our daughter who finished college here and never looked back! Although it was quite a lot of adjustment, I love it here! Maybe you have the opportunity to move to a more sunny place? Take care and God bless!🙏

A family member lives in the Midwest and had to get a “sun” lamp to combat seasonal issues. My MIL, also in the Midwest, comes to visit Colorado during the winter so she can see the sun.

I’m so happy for the LE matte eyeshadows!! As a low contrast girlie with very hooded lids, matte is always going to look best on my eyes. What I really want to find is a tiny palette (like 3-4 pan) of all warm neutral mattes.

I really like that paradise blush shade looks promising because I have been having issues with blush showing on my tan skin it all looks like ashy highlights . Finally someone shows the Hindash I have been curious. I am the same way about winter my anxiety is so high and I live at the beach and it doesn't even get super cold but still it's depressing and I think it would help a lot if they don't change the time and just leave it . Merritt blushes show up new just because their is a new shade and they do that a lot if they add a shade stuff will show up new or if they reformulate or even change the packaging of a product it shows new then they confuse people into buying stuff because they really think it's new even if it's not one of the new shades.
