I’m on my journey to find my Goldilocks fix for period products after giving birth to two kids. Cups didn’t work for me after giving birth to Theo, and then I got pregnant with Lincoln. After that I started doing pelvic floor physical therapy which helped, but cups still don’t work. And then I remembered discs.

Currently having my mind blown by my first cycle using my Lumma Short!!! 4 kids, low cervix, tampons fall out, cups leak… I had honestly given up so completely on ever being able to have a ‘leak free’ period again, that I am absolutely and completely gobsmacked!!! Not. A. Leak. I even went to Disneys Animal Kingdom with my kids yesterday and rode on Everest (rollercoaster) 3 times in a row. Nothing. Nada. 🤯 Seriously a game changer!!!!!

That's amazing! Our bodies are all so different. I have a super-low cervix, no kids, but the Lumma Short keeps going into an auto-dumping position when I don't want it to. I'm still in search for a disc that will stay in place for me 🤞🥲

Awesome!! I have tried nixit las month (didn't work for me) the disk was too large, & wouldn't stay in to place. Now I changed to Lumma, working much better than nixit, but my medium size kinda leaks a little bit not sure if I still have to master the "inserting" or if I probably should use my short one since I haven't tired it because my period is heavy. I'm still in the learning process. U really want this disk to work for me.

Omg I'm so glad you're doing this video!! I saw an ad a few days ago for a disc and literally thought "I entirely forgot those were a thing.. Maybe I should" 😂 I had a baby in 2020 and my pelvic floor muscles were cut in a botched episiotomy (thaaaanks midwives for not letting me listen to my body). I miss using cups so much, hate pads and have a strong dislike of tampons, not to mention struggling to keep them in. Definitely going to give em a go after seeing this!

I had the same issue, since I had kids I could not use menstrual cups anymore which really annoyed me. Then I tried Ecoblossom disc which almost worked but I still experienced some leakage. Finally I ordered Pixie disc and luckily this disc just works, even having a high tilted cervix. I am so happy about it. Tried it for two cycles now and it doesn't leak at all.

Hmm...I didn't try a cup until I already had 4 babies, so I didn't have a point of "pre-baby" comparison. I love the cup, and even though I have 5 kids now, the cup is great. I do have a tiny bit of leaking sometimes, so I wear a reusable pad or panty liner as back up. I assumed that a little leaking was normal. 🤷‍♀️

😂 I'd love an update, too. 3 months postpartum after baby 2 (figures Flo would show up this early with exclusive breastfeeding) and I feel like I'm totally lost this time around. Nothing's working.

I recently started using reusable/cloth pads and I really like them! They're way more comfy and somehow my period seems lighter on them? I don't understand why but its been a welcome change I would love to use discs or cups but I hate the sensation of the suction - it hurts and feels like ill do damage if I'm not careful, and the whole auto-dumping thing makes me nervous for leakage! But the cloth pads have been 10/10 - not a great solution for tight clothing or the gym though :P

I agree that cup suction hurts, haven't been able to get cups to work for recently :( Btw discs don't work with suction-reason why I'm gunna try one soon! Glad that reusable pads work for you!

Have you thought of using a bidet? Not a bidet attachment, but a real bidet? Is great for cleaning yourself after emptying a cup or disc... In Europe, in some places we have them, and before I never used them after starting using a cup they have been great... In case you are going to renovate your bathroom...

I've tried ALL kinds of discs. Firm, soft, big, small, medium but they all slip pass my pubic bone lol. The only thing that work is cora disc HOWEVER it does slip down but not pass the pubic bone bcs of the thicker rim, so it doesn't leak BUT it presses on my bladder like crazy once it slips! And I can feel it once it slips. SO yeah discs just dont work for me. Merula cup is my goldilocks cup. I honestly wish disc works for me bcs its so much easier to insert and remove for sure.

My periods are so heavy.. would it overflow a disc? I love using cups and period underwear.. wish that I had them in my teenage years! But I still deal with issues even with cups almost two years later on my heavier days.

I have the Cora disk it has a capacity of almost 50cc. Most cups have a capacity between 25cc and 35cc. I really love my disk. Previously used a cup, liked that too, but it caused multiple IUD expulsions so I wanted suction free
@katharina1788

There will be leaking if your disc is really really full and you don't empty it. But this also happens with a tampon. I have a really heavy flow and the disc is a game changer for me because of auto-dump. No need to take it out. On the two very very heavy days I simply go every 1 to 2 hours to the bathroom (others don't need to go that often, it really depends on how heavy your flow is). At night I only have to get up once during those heavy days. Interestingly I wake up when it's time. As soon as it isn't that heavy I don't have to think about it anymore. I just go to the bathroom when I need to pee. No need to get up at night. I only take it out before going to bed and in the morning to clean it and other than that I can just forget about it. It never was that easy for me. I wish I would have had a disc much earlier in life. A cup never worked for me on heavy days. Taking a cup out to empty it every hour was not comfortable at all. And I never knew if it was time to empty it. The disc and auto-dump is a game changer for me. And the cup always leaked, even on the lighter days. Not to mention the bladder pressure. I will never go back to tampons and cups.

I've always been curious about using a menstrual cup or disc but couldn't figure out how to wash it and reinsert it in public or at the office. There aren't always sinks in the stall, so how does that whole process work?
@Ncolgrl
@Ncolgrl 2 жыл бұрын
The solution I’ve found is not glamorous, and may not work for everyone, but here’s what I do: I grab a TON of toilet paper and make a little work area out of it to sit either on my thigh or on the TP holder depending on the stall. Then I get a bunch more and hold it in my non-dominant hand. I remove my cup, let as much matter empty into the toilet as possible, then wipe it out with the TP in my other hand. I’ll then set the cup on my little work station, wipe off my hand if necessary and then wipe myself. If I have a cup wipe with me I’ll give the cup a good clean at this time, and if not I just do what I can with TP. Then when I am done using the bathroom and cleaning myself, my cup is ready to be reinserted. Like I said, definitely not glamorous. And not applicable for everyone or every bathroom, but I find it gets the job done

Did you experience postpartum soreness with cups? And if so, was it better with discs? I am one year postpartum and my cup sometimes makes me feel sore which it never did before (and it is high enough... that was an issue the first couple of months back with it but not now). I wonder if a disc would be more comfortable in that way. Thanks for sharing!

Hi :) I was too afraid to use my cup post partum, but I did use discs, and I don’t remember them causing soreness (and I am very prone to soreness after having my first baby). So maybe you should try discs! The only thing is that I did experience some leakage with discs. That said, I only tried 1 brand so you might have luck if you try more than 1 kind!

Thanks for the informative video! I got a nixit disk and could never get it to stay in place for more than maybe a few minutes, now I’m thinking it’s just too large of a disk. Unfortunate because it was so expensive 😬 But Would love to figure them out, it’s super cool that you can be sexually active with them in 🙌🏻

I love my disc and it stays in place. When I researched about discs two years ago there were a lot of comments that the Nixit doesn't stay in place. I use a Lumma disc and it works great. There are now so many more discs (Flex reusable, hello, Cora, Saalt,...) available. I recommend trying another disc. For me it is a game changer. I wish I would have had this from the beginning. Makes my life so much easier.
