In this taste test video, we try raw cows milk for the first time, and compare it side by side with store bought, pasteurized cow milk. A gallon of milk at the store has been sent to factories to go through the pasteurization process, and is stripped of many of it's health benefits that raw milk maintains. In this test, we talk about the flavor, the texture, the color, and the consistency of the two kinds of milk. We also try raw cows cheese versus pasteurized cheese.
One More Venture is a suburban homestead based out of a small urban part of New England. We are a young married couple with a love for agriculture, gardening, raising livestock, our rabbitry, farming, etc! We love to bring our viewers along for our adventures and what we’re learning throughout our journey.

we have no problem paying $50 on a shirt but we won't spend extra on a nutrient rich, healthy raw milk that contributes to our health.

I completely agree! I am continually realizing that people (specifically Americans!) should really begin reprioritizing where their money is spent… putting more of their budget towards buying nutrient dense, whole foods that will ultimately keep them healthier and happier! ​@@Punisher1830 I once drove 350 miles for some nice grass-fed milk in a glass bottle like in the video. I packed a cooler and picked up some ice in a gas station. Absolutely worth it

They are so different. You cant go wrong even eyes closed. I have never drank raw milk but i still think pasteurized milk is like water. Thats how watery the store milk is. Even he as a non milk lover likes raw milk

I pay about $7 a gallon for raw milk. I also can get it for around $5 a gallon at an Amish store. The $7 milk is much more creamy. You can see a significant difference in the cream layer at the top. If they are sold out i get the milk from the Amish.

Dang I pay $11.25 a gallon for local raw milk. Probably because they’re the only local producer, not sure.

Make butter and/or whipped cream with the layer on top! Yum! I wonder if you had bought “Farm” milk (but Pasteurized) I saw at Whole Foods which comes in a glass container that looked like your raw milk, if it would had been a closer challenge taste test to the raw. I wish raw milk was easier to find!

Very interesting. Weird that the most expensive is the one they do less work. Going through the whole pasteurization process actually makes it cheaper?

Yup.. most likely because they can do the pasteurized milk very large scale, whereas raw milk isn’t available at stores and so it’s just sold at local dairy farms, where they have to charge more because of how small scale it is.

*Thank you for sharing :)! About raw milk cheese, you should check what kind of rennet is used - whether animal or vegetable. And if vegetable - what kind? GMO or non GMO? Because according to the American Cheese Society, most cheese is made with GMO vegetable rennet. Nourish Co-op has an article about it in their blog that you can read.*

Try searching on google for raw milk in your area, that’s how I find local farms who offer it!

I’ve been getting raw milk from this farm close to where I live, I just got one question. The milk I get is thin, almost like 2%milk. You mentioned it was thicker than regular milk. Does anyone know why it would be thinner, it supposed to be raw milk

Thank you for this video. Wanted to warn people of farmers that might be selling fake raw milk. Im in NYC and have been buying "raw" milk from this farm that does weekly deliveries and up until now I thought it was raw milk. Now I'm not so sure. After watching this video and a couple others, the milk that I get is nowhere near as creamy or brown. Its white and watery like the store brought milk in the video.

I also had a similar thought when I had raw milk recently from a different farm, and it taste just like pasteurized milk from the store… I was a little skeptical and will probably ask some questions before I purchase that one again🤔 thanks for watching!

Test it, if it’s real raw milk it doesn’t spoil, it sours. Put like half a cup (so you Dnt waste) if your milk in a jar with a loose lid and leave it on the counter. Give it like 4-6 days. If it’s real it will ferment and “clabber” so it will smell sour and make like a yogurt style consistency and the whey will seperate and be clear liquid. If it’s fake, well… your kitchens gonna stink

so... its probably soo thick and creamy becayse the cream was on top and you didn;t shake it but the rest is accurate, non homogenized is creamier and sweeter, but it wouldn't have been so think if you shook it up first to recirculate the fat.

Nutritionally, the differences between pasteurized and raw milk are minor. Pasteurization might slightly lower levels of vitamins, particularly Vitamin C and some B vitamins, but this impact is marginal; milk isn't a primary source of these nutrients for most people. The protein, fat, and major minerals like calcium and phosphorus in milk, however, remain virtually unchanged through pasteurization. The most significant aspect where pasteurized milk has an undeniable advantage is in safe consumption. Pasteurization is a proven method to kill off harmful bacteria like E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria, which can be present in raw milk. These pathogens are particularly dangerous for vulnerable groups, including young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Raw milk may contain beneficial enzymes and probiotics, but the risk of bacterial contamination and consequent illness is of significantly higher detriment, especially in consideration with mass production and distribution. In fact, this is why pasteurization was developed. In the 19th century, as urban populations grew and dairy farms became more industrialized, the risk of milk-borne diseases increased. Milk was a common vector for diseases like tuberculosis, brucellosis, so on and so forth. Regarding the safe consumption of milk, pasteurization is a vital factor. It ensures a level of food safety that raw milk, with its risks of bacterial contamination, simply cannot guarantee, certainly not in our industrialized world. If you want to go out of your way to get raw milk, fine, but the risk to public health isn't worth minor potential differences in vitamin or enzyme content. "It tastes better tho" isn't, either.

I got an idea, stop feeding the cows spent grains like barley if u keep them full grass fed none of those issues arise at all, humans drank raw for thousands of years it wasnt til the 1860-1880s when pasteurization was made also when the pasteurization happens the chemical atructure changes becomes altered, the whole milk u find in a supermarket isnt even whole milk its just water with white water dye and tastes like shit, raw milk has always contained ecoli but when cows started eating spent grains like barley instead of full grass fed the cows became unhealthy asf, and since a century passed and with misinformation from gov funded doctors and feds restricting our raw milk options pretty much enforces the point raw is better, there is issues that can arise yes but once again the cows had to eat omething other than grass, oh and the homogenization forces the fats through narrow pipes which actually oxidizes the fats making it bad for u instead of beneficial which explains the acne issues with pasteurized milk, not to mention the omega 3 dha epa and ala both destroyed the vitamin c is also destroyed
