Trying SPICY THAI HOTPOT & Morning Market Street Food in Khon Kaen Thailand

My last day in Thailand, and I went around to the local market, made an awesome kite, ate some noodles, then off to Khon Kaen. The first stop, I ate some spicy Thai hot pot for dinner, and the next morning went to another local market for some more noodles.

Loved the Kite making too, your food vids are the best but adding things like the kite even make this so fun to watch plus love the amazing places you getto go and visit with such wonderful people you meet, Our town is finally FINALLY getting a hot pot spot this month here in Bakersfield, I found out after I drove to L.A. upon Mikes recomendation we also will be going to Las Vegas to his other recomendation on the Buffett. I hope our towns Hot pot will be at least wonderful with good Broth choises along with a Sauce bar too!!

I'm glad you had a chance to visit the northeastern part of Thailand. I grew up in Udon Thani, a city couple hours north from Korn Ken. I miss Isan foods so bad. I hope you have a chance to go back and explore some more of the Isan cuisine Mikey!

Really interesting to see the farm. I consider myself a foodie growing up with European herbs and spices from mint and parsley to tarragon and chives, oregano, italian basil, thyme and so on, and that's quite a broad range on its own. I also grew up with indian and chinese cuisines, so was familiar with those, and then in early adulthood I first experienced Thai cuisine. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I'd take a mouth full of food, and there'd be a 'zing' of a new flavour and I'd then go hunting for that specific flavour so I could understand what each one was, whether it was tamarind, kafir lime leaves or pandanus leaf. I still have many more flavours and ingredients to sample from the Thai cuisine, but the one I can't get enough of is Thai holy basil. In a warm coconut milk based sauce, or a light soy based sauce, complemented with a bit of heat from a birds eye chilli, unstoppable flavour hit. Top of the charts, maybe joint first with a genuine authentic beef rendang.

I don't know why, but great Thai food reminds me of my German mother's comfort food. It's probably just the love that translates so well. Authentic Thai food is the ultimate comfort food. When I have a cold gimme that Thom Yum all day.
