I lost my dad last year and for the years prior I had isolated myself (from when he was diagnosed with cancer up to his death). Life was terrible. When he passed I noticed I had lost a lot of people because of my isolation. People still came together for me and I reached out and reconnected with old friends. Some of the connections stayed, some didn't. Now though I'm in a better place. You're right, you sometimes need that distance. (11:00) My best friend and I met when we were freshmen in high school. At the end of our senior year we had a falling out due to outside forces causing unwarranted drama. For a year I was miserable in our tiny hometown and so at 19 I moved to Atlanta. About 6 months or a year after I moved, she posted some old photos on Facebook and one was of the two of us. I sparked up a conversation and our friendship reblossomed, but this time there weren't other people getting inbetween us getting to know each other. She's the type of friend that no matter how long it's been since you've seen them in person, it never feels like any time has passed. You're always comfortable with them, because they are an extension of who you are. We're 31 now, and even though we live about 300 miles apart, we talk every single day. Even though looking back can be painful, I'm so thankful for those two years we had apart. They helped us grow as women, they helped us discover who we were as individuals, and they helped us realise that we can't live without each other. She is my heart and I am so beyond greatful that we took that "break" and that we were able to find our way back to each other. 👭💗
