Trying to Find a Non-Dairy Coffee Creamer for Cousin Lucy

My cousin Lucy (Theo’s half-sister) is looking for a non-dairy replacement to her Dunkin Donuts Extra Extra Sweet coffee creamer. We tried Milkadamia Latte Da Barista, Silk Soy Creamer (original flavor), Califia Farms Almond Milk Hazelnut Creamer, Coffee-mate Coconut Milk Creamer, and Pacific Foods Organic Oat Milk. Who will dethrone Dunkin as the King of Creamers in Lucy’s fridge??
We also bought So Delicious Coconut Creamer (original) and Silk Almond Creamer (vanilla), but we forgot to film them. Lucy rates the Silk Almond as “better than all right” and the So Delicious as “don’t bother”.

Best creamer ever is homemade. It's full fat coconut milk blended with soaked cashews and a pinch of salt to preserve it. The taste and super creamy texture is nearly identical to cow cream, only WAY better... and I'm not vegan. In a jar with a tight seal it lasts 5 to 7 days in the fridge. With sugar and vanilla it tastes like melted ice-cream...only more delicious. Also, it takes 2 minutes to make. I just keep soaked cashews in the freezer so they're ready to go! YUM! And it's sooooo good on berries in the summer.

Trader Joe's Soy creamer is OUTSTANDING. Same VISCOSITY as half and half. She would need to add sugar as it's just like 1/2 & 1/2. Makes THE BEST mashed potatoes!!!!!

I completely agree with Duncan - there is power in numbers! You vote with your dollars. Veganism is growing faster than ever right now & soon the teeter totter will rock to the vegan side. The process is slow enough to allow major industry to make the shift, but the direction is clear. In our area, ranches are turning into wineries!

I agree! TJ's soy creamer is identical to Wildwood soymilk creamer. I read that Wildwood makes it for TJ. Far superior to Silk!!

oatly oat milk is delicious. no dairy, no nuts, no gluten. it's not a creamer but it's super creamy. i use it in my coffee and it works like a creamer.

I've tried SO many creamers until I finally made up my own. I blend canned coconut milk (it's important to find one that has the thick part too) with almond milk to thin it out some. It's the perfect thick, creamy consistency/texture and is so easy to make. Depending on how much coffee you drink, you'll make it every few days or once a week. Store it in a jar in a cold part of the fridge. Shake before use!

The Ripple vanilla half and half is AMAZING! It’s really thick like dairy half and half and coffee creamer. The Ripple pea milk is really thick too. I also recommend hazelnut milk or cashew milk. Same viscosity and it’s sweet. Hope she finds something she likes!!

Silk brand creamer is still my favorite. I realized that because it’s what we use at Dunwell Donuts(not to be confused with Dunkin’ Donuts) and yeah, it’s amazing. I never cared about replacing coffee creamer until I tried it and now I keep buying it.

oh yes it does exist. it was the last thing we gave up. the silk stuff without flavoring is best. it comes in a similar container as the one you have only it's purple. it's really good. Every person can make a difference.

I enjoyed the video! Love the camera angles. The best thing I've found for my coffee is actual soy cream, it's proper thick and works wonderfully. It's extra good frothed! I either whisk it or use a frother I got for less than a tenner.

When I first started being vegan I had the same thoughts as Lucy about making a difference. Now I know that one voice added to one voice added to one voice can make a movement. Also I feel the same way about the Califia Creamer. It is nasty. LOL... The Ripple half and half has the thick creamy consistency she is looking for if she can find it, and its not bad. My favorite is the Silk Almond Milk Carmel favored creamer.

I think Canada has a total of 7 vegan coffee creamers (besides just non-dairy milks) and I didn’t like any of them UNTIL recently we got the coffee mate coconut and almond creamers and the coconut one is my faveeee!

Nut pods!!!! They’re only in select places. I found mine in the non refrigerated milk section. It’s designed to have the consistency and flavor of half & half. Just got some yesterday for $1 a piece and I’m suppppper happy

[legit cringing] Seriously, I sympathize with Lovely Lucy, though I drink my coffee black, because these ancillary dairy-ish things are some of the hardest to replace. I use dairy-ish, because so many of these creamer products are mostly oils, sweeteners, and stabilizers with precious little dairy in them at all, so how hard can it be to replicate them?! I'm half thinking I should use my culinary training to formulate the perfect non-dairy creamer . . . I like your gentle advocacy with your loved ones, Duncan; it's obvious that you believe them to be intrinsically vegan, which, as decent people, they are. TFP : )

I like Silk original for my coffee. I also recently started adding cocowhip on top of the coffee after stirring the creamer in. It melts quickly which makes it frothy and the flavor is amazing. Sometimes I have to add more half way through though. Also, I'd be interested to see her do the vegan challenge :)

GET THIS GIRL SOME XANTHAN GUM!!! It's a real game changer for your coffee when going vegan. Gives a thick texture without dairy. Not all xanthan gum is vegan, so check labels, of course. However, it is really great stuff to have around when giving up dairy. I use it to thicken my coffee, make gravies and more.

I'm one person and in my wake of being vegan for almost 5 years now, at least 5 that I know and can say for sure ( I have spoken to people online and do have a vegan channel, ig, and fb so probably more)... have gone vegan because I have influenced them and from those 5, more will go vegan etc. It does make a difference

Great video! I've been using Silk original creamer since I became vegan years ago and I truly don't enjoy coffee without it. I've weaned myself off sugar, but there is still a slight sweetness to the original. My hubs loves French Vanilla, but it is WAY too sweet for my taste. ♡♡♡

The takeaway from vegan/vegetarian movement from the animal-cruelty standpoint, which also resonates with the zero-waste movement and many other calls for environmental awareness... is that what's important is not to aim for a "perfect" lifestyle (i.e. 5 years of trash in a mason jar, shaming self for realizing that a food had minute traces of dairy), but for many people to be just a little more mindful. All of us spending just a few moments of our lives considering the environment is what will ultimately count towards saving this planet. A few famous "zero-waste gods" on internet are admirable and inspirational, yes, but we should not shame anybody else for not being perfect.
