$394 AU ($262 USD) for a broken ps5 sounds like a terrible deal

What's better price?

Probably why I haven't bought one to repair for the first 3yrs since release. These are the prices (at least in Australia).

These hdmi caps are very difficult to work with. And yes, definitely use hot air soldering next time, it will make the job way easier 🙂
@RestoreTechnique3 ай бұрын
I tried using hot air to remove the capacitor and started melting the port on the corner. I don't know how technicians use hot air and don't melt the port. I guess they do it really quickly?
@KodNaprawy3 ай бұрын
To install the port you can use the dropdown method. What you do is remove the old port, apply the solder to both pins and ground holes. Then, you heat everything from the bottom until the solder liquifies. After that put the new port in place, wiggle it a bit too make sure solder bonds between port and the motherboard. Now you can align the new port, hold it in place using the twizzers and push it. Put the heat away and wait for solder to harden. Now you can free the port. As a hint, apply solder to a new port, it will make it easier to bond to the motherboard. Sometimes additional soldering of the pins is required but once you get used to this method, it works very well. As for the cap install, I prefer to have it on the motherboard before installing a new port. Hope that helps!

Congrats 😊 My favorite soldering tip for work as such you did is the one where one side is flattened. I think they're called "2C" or "3C" or neven smaller. The size makes is nice to use in small places and the flattened side conducts some good heat.I load a little solder on them and with that side up I just slide it to the part of the legs that are close to the boards. the solder usually gets sucked in pretty fast. It worked pretty well on a fat PCB of a charger for V-Mount Bricks, lately.

Also KU tip is not bad, i use it most of the time while repairing.😉

Tough task especially the soldering, which you acknowledged would be easier with hot-air soldering. But as usual you got the job done. 👏

Man was I rooting for you when you were soldering on that capacitor. The humor (like the bit about the extreme slow-motion removal of all 42 screws) really helps to watch this sort of technical videos (to a person new to the whole deal at least). And the fact that you show the whole process, errors, failed attempts and all, makes it really exciting - will it work? Anyway, thanks a bunch for the effort!

I still don't understand how the HDMI port could happen like that... How do they use it? Lots of damage like that.

Probably got knocked off a shelf with the cable plugged in or something. People put their consoles in some precarious places.

@@MasterKilokk But we should be more careful, especially this is expensive & learn from damage that has occurred so we can take care of it.

@@teguhnurdaffa408 I know of people who put their consoles on their window sill. Some people just don't know how to take care of things, regardless of price.

Hello 👋 this was a great and helpful video to watch, I was wondering how to fix my ps5 slim because I don’t have any experience in that. It has been stuck in safe mode for a while now, and everytime I try to fix it. It has an error message that says “ restarting in 30 seconds (reset ok)”. Thank you for your time
