I usually take a break for myself and my mental state. When I have art block its because I'm all burnt out because of school or just people. I also sometimes like to spend time in quiet places or go outside to regain myself and find inspiration in the little things.

@@BlackBeanCMS hello buddy!!! In all honesty, the day I found your art is also the day I asked myself what more can I give to satisfy the artist in me. I can somehow connect to you, bizarre but I embrace it. Kind of empathy between the screens. Your soul is just as colorful as your art, you are part of my current art inspirations. I can only offer kind words for now, also watching some KZbin art channels but you are on my top picks! Keep that passion burning and maybe let's find source of our art together. Won't let colors turned gray and desaturated.

The "Big Art" side of this platform has the tendency to prioritize flashy content and trends, which can get repetitive and superficial very quickly. You, however, have your own thing- art instincts, video structure, personality, and the like. I'm just saying, don't feel left behind. Quite the opposite, you're a vibrant gem! Things I do amid art block: observe nature, photography, cranking out very quick thumbnails, wait for inspiration. I wish you the very best!!!!!!!!!
@lacamina

I absolutely agree. "Big Art" youTube feels like it's more about entertainment than art which I'm growing more and more tired of. I'm really more interested in casual videos of artists sharing their life and work than challenges or people cranking out videos like clockwork.

I’m new here, but I was viewing your videos a few months ago. I love your style and energy! I’ve had a lack of motivation for this whole pandemic and haven’t been able to paint or draw anything original. I usually do a refresher, take a shower, exercise, go out to eat with friends, clean and clear my room, get myself excited for literally anything. But it’s okay to lack motivation, everyone has art block and I’m happy you decided to find inspiration through having fun in NY. Trying is the best thing you can do when you feel down, so even if you don’t have any ideas I would still watch your vids because when I found your channel I was sooo incredibly inspired, and hope you can bring yourself back up.

I appreciate your honesty in this video. I needed this. Feels better to have someone who understands and has the words to express these feelings when not everyone can. You could try finding movies, video games, and music that give you inspiration. Sometimes it takes friends, and sometimes you just need a break. I think it sounds like u need to maintain your happiness and take care of yourself. Less saddness, more fun, and the inspiration will come. Inspiration can come from sadness too though. Art for me is about of expressing feelings onto a canvas, whether material, vocal, or digital. I find it difficult to create when i have blocked emotions. Especially stress.

@@BlackBeanCMS Personally, i like Men in Black 3, Into the Spiderverse, and Super hero movies. As for shows, Adventure Time definitely, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is so cool, Scissor Seven, The Umbrella Academy, and i havent tried Midnight Gospel yet. Then there's anime shows and movies like Dr.Stone, Avatar The Last Airbender, and Legend of Korra. but it depends on your personality. As for a change of environment, maybe Austin, Texas? I've been dealing with the same thing, honestly. Been trying to go back to my childhood, my roots, to the very things that fueled my Dreams.

algor ithm comment! but seriously, you and your art is such an inspiration to me, and i hope you can get back into appreciating the life of your work. it’s really hard when you’re chasing that groove or serenity or even views of your previous work, but pushing through it and just creating something, anything, helped me a lot! also, stopping myself from comparing my works too much, even to myself. the other thing i do is read webtoons or comic books whose art has really inspired me-it keeps me engaged with a storyline while also appreciating the art in it. something like The Sculptor by Scott McCloud is something i’d really recommend! it goes over something similar to what you’re going through, and really pulled me out of a funk

You aren't alone in this weird art block I feel so many of us are in. I haven't been able to create a piece of art that I truly love in over a year, I have barely made anything in fact. I felt like a few years ago I was quickly improving but within the past few years I struggled to do what I love and what felt came so easily to me. I've been avoiding creating because I'm scared to be let down by myself and my art. It's a difficult fog to get out of for sure, and I'm not clear of my own art block either. I adore your work so much and it's such a huge inspiration for many of us, but please don't feel any negative way about being absent online. You're own emotional and mental health is so much more important than KZbin or TikTok, etc. I hope that the unique creativity in all of us blossoms this coming year and any art blocks just melt away. Sending so much love and support your way and I'll always look forward to anything you share in the future!

I gotta say Bean, you've been one of my favorite artists on social media so far. I never even realized the possibility n diversity of oil pastels, hell, I didn't even know about the medium that much till I found your video. Your style n technique is mind blowing n so beautiful that leaks out so much personality n vigor. I'm glad you are getting back on your feet n you may not think it's true but by outside perspective, you have made very good n noticable progress from where you were at the beginning of the year or even last year. Oil pastel, crayons, oil painting, hell, even your Sculptures are awesome n your skill is versatile. The algorithm may not appreciate now but just remember, ur OP fans will always be there waiting for you n cheering you on. Researching artists n how they approach social media will definitely help along the way as well n I'm sure that within time, you'd be doing just as good on KZbin as you do in shorts n TikTok. It's just that short seconds/minute videos are the current trend n in high demand right now n your audience from there haven't fully migrated to your KZbin channel with longer time but consistency is key not just in time but content n genuineness as well. You'll definitely get there in time so take care, my g n never stop being creative. 😊

Honey, listen!!!! I was on YT long before the huge trend and even became a partner. I was seeking the numbers and the check👩🏽‍💻 Because of that, I failed my purpose and did not enjoy the work needed to put into something I wasn’t. Stay true to you. If you have days where you aren’t inspired, go through that day reconnecting to your purpose; your purpose is you first and the things that define who you are. Create when you are guided and you’ll begin to love what you do and your definition of you, even more. I get all of what you’re saying and it is okay. I love seeing your art and don’t worry about if you fit into a category. Your work and you are recognized by those that matter; by those that see who you are completely. First off I LOVE your videos your art is so inspiring. I think “art block” is just a normal part of the process, you are not a machine & we shouldn’t expect artists to constantly come up with original unique ideas AND execute them perfectly every day. I love seeing when a piece doesn’t go the way you expected it to, and you actually SHOW that process instead of scrapping the video and only showing us the successful pieces. A lot of things I make don’t go how I want them to, and seeing those big art KZbinrs that nail these massive projects every time makes me feel like I’m not growing at the rate I should be. But your content shows me another artist feeling the same things I do. You’re authentic, you’re real & you’re unique. Keep doing you boo and take your time, we’re rooting for you.

I personally fell in love with you and your art from watching just one short that popped up out of nowhere mid this year. Not much of a YT person myself, subscribing to only 6 people who showcases wonderful depth in their craft or passion mixed with their unique personality and stories, not concerned about the dollar driven algo's, something you can't find common anymore without discovering. Something YT has lost. I thought it was inspiring that you stuck to why you do it all. I've began writing myself after so long in architecture, and loved your stories and how it just flows with the art. It's very poetic, even to a point I just let your videos run in the background as I do my writing. A cozy feeling despite the agressiveness of your styles which makes it very unique. I think that's something you should celebrate. Your individuality, and I believe it'll shine once you let the world commission you so you have more content and stories perhaps? Consider it a suggestion if you may? With that, I hope you get a good start to 2022, the year of "unfinished business" from 2020. Cheers: to creative ways for you to release that energy. Glad you had fun in NY, returning with reflection that resonates. Take care and merry Christmas.

So many folks who do youtube seem to burn out. Glad you got a new perspective. I think it's cool you have so many followers & your art in your store sells out so quickly! I think google/youtube depends on you feeling discouraged by not growing for them. They feed off your success. So in a way, you are successful at getting what you need, and NOT feeding them a million subscribers....because it's taxing for the average person to be a content creator that maintains a million + viewers. Keep doin what's good for you, the views will come eventually. As for motivation, I find motivation comes AFTER forcing myself to WORK. give myself a dumb project and force myself to DO IT. I sometimes feel sorry for some successful art KZbinrs (especially young ones) because they're so caught up with making popular videos and seem to have given up improving their art skills (if they find being KZbinrs is more meaningful than being good artists, I've nothing to say to that). I LOVE your videos because it contains actual process, useful techniques and most of all, your encouragement. I truly wish that you become financially successful and gain huge popularity, but I also wish that you enjoy healthy life and create more beautiful works, because your talent as an artist is so rare, unique and exceptional. It's OK to do nothing for a while ...life is long! I would live to see in some 30 years (if I'm alive) your great art in a museum and say, "I've known him since he was making videos in good old KZbin!!" And I know I’m not the only one who has this experience from you. You’re truly an amazing artist and what stands out is you doing YOU. Yea the art KZbin world is awesome but to be honest I can’t write one person who does oil pastels nvm has a similar niche as you. Because you stand out! You’re not the same as everyone else and that’s GOOD! Just because you’re not getting views doesn’t mean it’s not worth peoples time like the regular artist on here getting thousands of views. My only advice that I’ve noticed to work for artists is to just post more and stick with trends. But honestly you don’t even need to do that because supporters will find you and love you. That advice might speed up the process but you need to find what’s best for you. 🥺❤️ Also I’m SO happy to finally have another video and I do sincerely hope you’ll be posting more 🥺💞💞💖❤️

I could completely relate to this video since recently I've been going through an artblock and it was mainly because i had started posting my art on instagram and after a while it wasn't about thr art it was about the numbers and likes that i was getting on my post and the amount of followers i was receiving, also seeing all the other instagram artist growing so fast was discouraging but watching this video made me realize im not alone it's a stage we all go through, so thank you for making this video in made me want to draw again for the first time in month's!❤

Great Video! Glad to see you are back on KZbin. I just wanted to tell you that when I started watching your channel over a year ago, it was (and still is) very inspiring to me! It inspired me to take up painting and drawing! I work in the performing arts, so needless to say when COVID lockdowns happened, it really sucked here because EVERYTHING shut down! Switching to visual arts has been a blessing and a lifesaver! I was kinda blocked creatively for the past couple of months but recently finished a painting that I really like. Thank you for introducing me to working with pastels BTW! Love your latest drawing! Ironically I live exactly 3 blocks away from the Brooklyn Museum (I highly recommend a trip on your next visit to NYC) and I think it's about time I pay another trip there for some new inspiration. It's sad that I live in a city like this and don't stop to appreciate the art all around me. Anyway keep up the great work! Happy New Year! ✌🏽

I think this is the first comment I have ever made on a KZbin video, but I just wanted to say that watching your art over the last year and a half completely transformed the quality of my own art and taught me so many things I didn't know how to begin trying before. Whatever you decide is best for you, please know your artwork and style is not only beautiful and unique but also grounded and presented with a process that helps other artists improve their own crafts. Thank you! Wishing you all the best :)

Comment for the algogods. I'm glad you're back! I've missed seeing your videos. I found your channel about 3 months ago when I was struggling with art block and I was electrified! I love your videos, both the shorts and the longer ones--your energy and personality are awesome to me. I'm very much an introvert so watching someone express their bold, vibrant personality in their art has been so inspiring. I'd never worked in oil pastels before (I'm more into watercolor) but your videos were exciting enough to me to jump in and play around with them and I've been loving it. I hope you get to feeling better and can find your motivation again but know that you have lots of fans who love your work, style and videos just as they are.

You and your art are an inspiration to me. I stopped drawing almost 2yrs now and I want to draw again. It's the part of me that's missing and the reason I'm sad all the time is because I love art and haven't had any time to draw at all. I love these kinds of videos. I'm not in to the big and flashy videos. I love these peaceful chat and draws, and sketchbook flip throughs and paint alongs. 🎨 ♡

I used to hate oil pastels before I saw your videos… I’d never really seen anyone use oil pastels in this way before. I actually started liking oil pastels and wanting to create art with them because of you. You’ve been such a great inspiration to me! It’s actually kind of hard to be inspired by some bigger art you tubers the way I get inspired by artists like you. So, keep up the good work!

I totally understand. My niche is pretty much invisible in the YT art scene. I don't have the energy/motivation anymore to even load them. And, they're not really even videos - mostly slide shows showing my art. I'm a fauvism folk artist - and my market does not historically find me here. But, perhaps it doesn't matter. So, yes, sir, MAKE YOUR ART FOR THE SAKE OF ART! Not for the views, the approval and the masses - art is healing, so let it work for and on you. I've missed watching you - and so glad to see you back ... I'm especially glad to see you visited my home town (I haven't been back there since 1993). So, I need to push my fears of traveling in this current climate, and just go home. Thanks for the art ... Much Love.

I'm losing track of my point, but I just wanted to say that you are super inspiring as an artist and I'm glad you got into KZbin because you make it brighter ☺

The "algor" "izm" just dropped this gold nugget of a channel in my feed and this video hit me in a very tender spot in my little art goblin self. I stopped making art for almost five years I was in a very rough and dissociated state in my life. I didn't know were I was going or if I really even wanted to continue. It has been two years now that I am slowly getting back into my art. I have changed a lot and so has my art. It is hard for me to not urn for how I used to incorporate art into my life but that how it is. I used to draw and write at every moment I had alone. Now I have to feed my goblin lots of content and reference before I can motivate myself. My philosophy is that everyone's cup is half empty but what is in your cup is really were out perspective should be. A lot of the time we don't have control over what is poured into our cup but we still have to finish it before we can fill it with stuff we like and we tend to burn through the stuff we like a lot quicker then the stuff we don't. My way of getting through art block is simple letting it go away with time . Its time that should be spent learning introspectively, it is time for growth and when you feel ready you can share your blossoms again. No one gets angry at the plum tree when it comes to fall and its branches are bare, we say its out of season and we wait. I think we are no different. If everything was perfect and beautiful all the time there would be no place for art in this world. Our art comes from the joy we have after re discovering the beauty in the world we forgot we could see.

Hi bean! Not sure if you’d ever see this seeing as it’s been so long but I’ve been watching you for for some time now, at least pre pandemic and it’s been so fantastic to see you grow in the many ways you have. To be so very transparent and honest about the ups and downs as an artist and allowing ourselves to be patient navigating social medias wants and needs alongside of it. I said all that to say, you inspired me to even begin creating/painting along with the other KZbinrs you’ve collaborated with recently. Thank you so much for being an inspiration! Your niche community will find you, time and time again for you being you. Keep growing♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

It's so good to see you again, you saucy & sassy Bean! I'm glad you had fun in NY, & I think the piece turned out well. You're absolutely right; we all have a right to feel our feelings. They're valid. That being said, I'm sorry you've been feeling disillusioned & uncertain for an extended period of time. That sucks. Art block sucks. And with all these stresses we live under in our current situation, it's very easy to get overwhelmed by burn out. Just be kind and patient with yourself, that's my advice. It's easy to get wrapped up in being an artist & forget about being a human being first. I think we're very good at neglecting our psychological needs in favor of getting art made, & it eventually blows up in our faces, & I think that's a lot of what art block is. Ok, sorry for writing a novel. Glad you're back, happy to see you dip your toes back in, & Merry Christmas! Much love to you 💙

what i really like about your art and videos is the fact that they feel so authentic and true to you. a lot of big art youtubers use really flashy (and frankly, repetitive) style of editing, clickbait titles, the same trends and so forth. I enjoy their videos nonetheless and yt algorithm really loves their stuff too, but none were able to captivvate me like you. Your personality, your style, your variety, I haven't seen anything similar. Also I love that you share your struggles along with successes. I knew it! You are a mere mortal after all. Its completely normal, ive learnt to ride and enjoy each creative wave as it comes and inevitably goes. Creativity has seasons I think. Appreciate where you are in it. Plot twist, art block only lifts when it wants too. It's a humbling experience all artists go through. It's about identifying the different phases of your creative process, how it works, when it comes and when it goes. Just enjoy the ride as I don't think we are in control of it!🤣🖤 ps. Forcing it can just be more frustrating than if you put your hands up and wait. Just don't wait too long, I've gone a decade before just waiting and not creating. The character building and building strength comes from picking up the pen, pencil, pastel and going for it regardless of the pain and self doubt. Pushing through helps you grow so much. This whole experience has helped you in a bigger and better way than you imagined. Everything happens for a reason. You are enough, you are perfect and you are exactly where you need to be.

I LOVE your work. And your personality, too. I haven't been able to make any art for the last 18 months due to a horrible series of life events. Now that things are a bit more stable, I feel really worried that maybe I'll never get back to it again. Which leads to terrible self doubt, which leads to wondering if I'm even a "real" artist at all. UGH! So frustrated by the whole thing. Your videos are so refreshing and inspiring in this vast sea of "aesthetic art" vlogs that have become so popular on KZbin. I love the kind of videos you put out, your wit and characters are hilarious and it's just so nice watching your process unobstructed by flashy cuts and edits, pretentious narration and other bullshit people are coming up with in their rich white art kid vlogs. I won't ever get bored or tired by your videos, they're always so entertaining and your experience as an artist is very relatable, which I appreciate so much, because I can actually connect to the person behind the screen and all their flaws and hardships they go through with art, as opposed to the popular vlogs I mentioned, which seem toon pretty and perfect to be true.

Another thing you can do for inspiration is to look at the emotions you go through most and turn them into environments or rooms within your art. It provides original and authentic ideas and it shows you how to connect with your work emotionally and spiritually . Like having a spiritual or happy experience for me means that I’d probably paint myself amongst trees or on a mountain using all my favorite color coordinations and then doing something maybe more dark and sad I’ll paint an environment that is more empty and tells a clear story and emotion I can share with people .
