21:31 this is similar to a lot of the commentary and criticism I've seen surrounding Jubilee's Middle Ground. It's so complicated because I think the idea of normalizing extreme views is so dangerous but I understand the benefits of not shutting down these conversations too.

It's been really disheartening to see Middle Ground go from genuinely respectful and interesting conversations from opposing viewpoints to people from two different sides just talking or shouting at each other and often degrading each other. Every once in a while they have videos that are primarily respectful but it's been fewer and farther between. And I can't tell if it's a Jubilee issue or a larger societal issue, or a little of both.

I would never survive a Canadian college or high school in 2024. The bigotry is astounding. Keep in mine our own conservative fascist PP cannot even get a security clearance. You cant even work in fucking PAYROLL in Ottawa without one. Stephen fucking harper basically controls Albertan pensions m We need pay fucking attention to whats going in our own yard before condescendingly or ignorantly being outraged by our southern neighbors. Bc the call is coming from fucking INSIDE THE HOUSE. We owe if to our children and marginalized communities to speak out at home before woeing our American friends. And this isnt a new problem in Canada. I moved to Canada 15 years ago and it was just as undereducated and intolerant in large swaths of the country its like gay people and weed became federally protected and the working class Canadians just fucking coasted on those wins as labeling us as being progressive. Great convo. And you made an important, often overlooked point: it's important we actually talk *with* each other even when we don't agree, rather than just talking *about* each other. I get the fear of seeming to endorse, but it truly is dangerous to just never talk with "the other side"
@stephanie714220 сағат бұрын
I agree. And what bothers me about this is that they’re so concerned with speaking with H3 - who is equally liberal and shares the same worries as they do. Sure, there are some disagreements to be talked out. But it bothers me that they aren’t willing to talk to a guy whose views are so similar to their own because he’s controversial.
@summerrgray2 сағат бұрын
Agreed with both of you! By not talking to him they’re giving into the imagine of him that’s been created, and to me that’s so much more dangerous than platforming “the other side.” Ethan is very liberal, and if we cease having these conversations within our own party we’re only heading for disaster. And people who’d get upset about platforming the other side live in a very black and white world that won’t progress. We need to talk more. Now, if they talk to him and still have differentiating opinions then that’s fine! But at least there was a conversation and an attempt to know somebody beyond subtweets and podcast clips.

It's interesting hearing your perspectives on appearing on platforms/channels with wildly opposing views and standpoints to your own. I guess, from a comms standpoint, in comes down to whether you want to speak within your echo chamber of like-minded people, or if you want to use your voice and the strength of your platform to speak outside of that. You've got a strong following, and you've built a really solid brand trust and recognition of the Second Try platform that I genuinely think that appearing on channels that have those differing viewpoints honestly elevates this "speaking truth to power" strategy you're taking moving forward. It stands to build faith and trust in your brand further by speaking to and against those people on behalf of the people who don't have the platform, it's using your platform to challenge dangerous positions and ideologies.

A really important point regarding H3 is that Ethan doesn’t deal with disagreement very well. He has a habit of falling out with people and then getting quite toxic and personal. I definitely think you should share spaces with people you disagree with but I don’t think he’s a good faith actor, ESPECIALLY on I/P. Take care of your peace and brand ❤
@stephanie714220 сағат бұрын
Personally, I disagree. As a viewer of both, they share a lot of the same opinions politically & socially. If they don’t want to share a space with someone who agrees with majority of what they also believe and fight for because he’s polarizing, how could they ever have a productive conversation with someone that has a completely different audience?
@Alice-cp9sy20 сағат бұрын
@stephanie7142 because productive conversations can only happen in good faith and I sadly think Ethan is too emotional on I/P to be good faith. Ethan has not shown himself to be able to be ok with people disagreeing with him. Plus, a lot of toxicity in the fandom right now and I don’t think the Try Guys deserve to be caught up in that, especially Zach. I would support a private conversation between Zach and Ethan though as I don’t think anyone should be shunned. But a collaboration right now is a bad idea. Ethan also is nowhere near as influential as Joe Rogan (no offence) so the pay off is not as large.

@sighhAYSzG5AG2 сағат бұрын
Definitely think that we need to regroup as a party to figure out how to better project our messaging. So much of what we see now is polarizing, and it makes people feel like they aren't welcome if they don't agree on every last thing that the party represents..leaving people without a group to belong to, so they move to another group. The fact that so many factions of the Democratic party that were once strong holds and reliable demographics for support of democratic candidates have moved right shows there is a clear delineation between what the Democratic party represents and how the American people feel. I know it might be hard to budge a little on some of those values and not fight as hard as you can for things, but remember that change sometimes has to come incrementally, and people have can nuance to their opinions. If everyone is labelled with extremely negative labels any time they have a slightly different view on something, especially if it's something that 70% of the population doesn't support, and that becomes a core identity of the party, you are bound to get squashed in elections like we did this time. We didn't just lose the presidency, we haven't controlled the house in years, Senate has been a slim majority when we were in control...it's so much. Bullying people into sharing your views will only drive them into the open arms of people who prey on their fears.

Is it a conspiracy if it’s completely obvious and traceable? Billionaires controlling information streams is also why most people w financial literacy hate “philanthropy” from billionaires in the form of funding charities or universities. It’s filling a gap that should be publicly regulated and compromises the integrity of its policies. Information, fundamental rights like food/housing/education should be publicly funded and agreed upon. And that billionaires can buy these essential services INSTEAD of paying their fair share of say taxes to publicly run these utilities is very much intentional by design

For the fruit flies, they can also be spawning in your drains (particularly if you live in an older space)-- so boil water and pour it down your drains to kill anything down there!

58:59 Hydrogen peroxide can be used on small cuts, but can sometimes end up irritating the wound more so isnt always the best option for first aid. But hydrogen peroxide is actually the very best stain remover for getting blood out of clothing! Just spray in on the stain and let it air dry, re-apply if needed 😊 i often get pretty bad bloody noses and learned that from and EMT. I use it all the time now 😂

I do appreciate you guys addressing it, because yeah it is a weird place to be where the world is on fire and then "Here's a new vid". But also, we need something other than all the doom to hold onto otherwise what's the point? Hearing the processes is a good call.

@@EmeraldEyes3713 He called one of their cities a "t-rist city", referred to one of them as "it", called someone who now has been issued an ICC arrest warrant for what they're doing against Palestinians a "moderating voice" whilst his wife called him "a good guy", and that's just off the top of my head

I don't think a h3 cross over ending particular well even if I think their left over audience needs an exit from the echo chamber. Ethan has been relativizing antisemitism by weaponizing it for months and it keeps getting worse.
