It’s kinda scary cause a lot of people feel entitled to other people always being available to them now. It’s not really helping the boundary issue that some people have. Harder to keep your phone off for long periods of time anymore if you need it for work but I try to keep hard boundaries anyway
@tiffanythompson582012 күн бұрын
I’m so hyped on this Anti-phone vibe Zach has. The pressure to be always available hit me a year ago and I literally lost friendships over it.
@hp69646 күн бұрын
Same! I don’t like the entitlement people feel over always being available. When we were kids it was different but now we’re adults who have responsibilities and are more tired. I don’t even wanna go out as much as I used to and enjoy my own company more than ever. I think boundaries are more important than ever with employers, friends, etc

@francis2fly12 күн бұрын
I agree with Rainey - I wish I had realized how young I was in college. Miles the "what a privilege it is..." is a form of having gratitude or appreciating the little things, which I have tried to do for a long time. I also agree that my 30's was one of my best times - it was very busy and full but also I finally understood myself - workwise and personally-wise. Big milestone time.

I am here for the Sean Evans ambivalence. I saw a Reddit comment that equated him to a “human questionnaire” because of his lack of follow up questions, and it’s just so true. I like the show, but not because he has incredible presence or charisma, just because there are interesting questions that deviate from what you’d expect in a traditional interview. If you replaced Sean I’m sure the show would still do just fine 😅

While I am fully on board the BRING BACK BUTTONS train, and the thought of needing an app just to do my laundry enrages me, I do think it's important to remind ourselves how much certain modern conveniences do for people with disabilities. As discussed, there aren't as many services or things to help us as we age and our bodies become differently abled. Most things in our society are not created with disability in mind.

I do think the age bracket concept is interesting bc it really does feel like theres a compartmentalization in peoples minds of like life exists in:youth,adult,old age- and each one of them is just a carrot on a stick in our culture where it sucks to be any age bc young people feel like they want to to be adults because they are regarded in the US as a parents property right and have no agency, adults hate the sense of inherited cultural responsibility of survival where they pass an arbitrary line and are no longer supported for being and only supported for doing and hope they can rest in old age, and old people are painfully aware of the transience of life and wish they didnt take their youth for granted... our culture makes it so that it sucks to be any age... also i kinda hate the rhetoric of like "college people think theyre adults but theyre still so young in actuality" bc it kinda propagates those ideologies, and in reality everyone is so old and so young at the same time regardless of their age, and regardless of whatever frontal lobe/cerebral cortex fact you want to cite, your brain literally never stops developing your entire life. Theres no finality to it, theres no ultimate stage of development
