You have plan? ... stick to it ... on the ice, in philosophy and in the administration and management of the team. Never liked the Dubas hiring from the beginning and now the Leafs will be severely hamstrung because of the manner in which he has handled contract negotiations. I have always believed Dubas was in over his head and way overated ... he has created a mess and he doesn't know how to correct it. Sheldon Keefe is not the answer ... he's being thrown to the wolves. Keefe is still saddled with the same players.

I think the root of the Leafs problems lie more on Dubas, rather than Babcock. It was evident for years that the Leafs lacked defense, grit and the will to play with a sense of urgency. These other factors were completely ignored by Dubas. I agree with you that Shanahan made a bad decision in overlooking Mark Hunter. Clearly the wrong decision was made.

Come on with the Sparks over Mac argument, Sparks was a mid twenties AHL goalie of the year coming off a Calder Cup Win with the Marlies. Big Mac as much as I loved him, is almost 40 years old with career numbers that were less than stellar in the NHL. There is not a GM in the league that would not have made the choice that Dubas made. You hope that Sparks would be able to make the jump to the NHL but he didn't. Hindsight is always 20/20, and furthermore we would only have Mac for one year as he would have become a UFA and walked away because we had no room to sign him at the price he would have wanted.

Most commentators, ex players, and the majority of hockey people would've taken the PROVEN back up over the kid from the AHL who had issues even that year. (Sparks was suspended for threatening to drag a fan on social media from his home, strap him to a chair, and beat the shit out of him at centre ice). Management knew this, and still chose him. Bad management decision after bad decision. There was no hindsight, your just trying to imply it now.

In a perfect world, they'd give him more time but it's clear the players have tuned out the coach and Shanahan's hands were tied. Basically every single player, and I mean nearly every single player, had a significant drop in performance when Bobcock left and Blashill took over. Filppula didn't sign with Toronto because the city wasn't on his 16 team trading list when he was with the TBL. Filppula also didn't initially leave Detroit because of Babcock, he wanted too much money to resign after the contract year he struggled in. Zetterberg never talked shit about Babcock either. He literally said he had a good relationship with babcock, they just butted heads a lot, but Babcock knew he could tell Zetterberg whatever he wanted, and Zetterberg could tell Babcock whatever he wanted. Datsyuk also never said anything bad about Babcock, he actually praised him for making him more defensive, because without Babcock Datsyuk would've never won those Selkes. Babcock basically told Datsyuk to do what Bowmen told Yzerman to do and Bowmen almost got fired for initially butting heads with yzerman as Detroit fans thought he wanted to trade Yzerman to Ottawa due to their shaky initial relationship.

People dump on Brian Burke, but he’s been right all along. Why pay these guys so damn much when they haven’t accomplished much? I get that they are highly skilled, but you could’ve traded Nylander for some defensive help. This team needs grinders like a Tom Wilson.

Goodbye playoffs, I guess making three playoff runs doesn't mean anything, it's never the players fault though, let's just pay them more and get lower performance sounds like a great deal. Fans/Team greatly overreact to playoff losses -7games to Boston In reality if u are that good = you have done a good job/good chance to win a Cup & most teams need several tries or get hot/lucky at right time. In reality this yr the problems r mostly personnel/Dubas. But firing Babsy allows blame & saves Dubas. I guess Leafs keep laying Babs for 3 yrs so very expensive!!!!!!

Bring price to the leafs and things will change like nite and day. We need a real money goalie and Price is that guy. Dubas has to wake up and get us the best players in the game at the right position. The leafs need a real goalie and freddy is not that guy. Dubas has to go get us Price.
