I disagree, you can argue that the pacing is not good in the anime, but in kai/the manga, it's so well done, it's intense, high stakes, in hindsight yeah you know frieza is holding back but back then we didn't, it has great choreography, some fun strategies and tactics that show Goku's battle prowess, and some of the best most shocking plot twists like the fact that Goku had been using kaioken all along and frieza saying he's using 50% of his power, and that desperation and excitement leading to that amazing kaioken ×20 kamehameha as a final effort from Goku to win, it's actually amazing i nearly prefer the pre ssj part of the fight more.​@@bungbananaman

@monjikhechini9724 No, it's pretty obvious the entire time Freeza isn't taking Goku seriously. The fight definitely has great moments like the 20x Kamehameha, like you said. But it's still ultimately a one-sided beat down. The only reason Freeza ever gets hit is because he let Goku hit him. Not knocking the moments in the fight, but it doesn't elevate it to a good fight imo. Good fights, in my opinion anyway, are even sided clashes. Where you actually wonder who'll win.

I’m not going to lie I re-read the Goku vs Frieza fight. And I’m on the side of it that it isn’t really a fight. Before Goku becomes a Super Saiyan, it was revealed he has been using Kaioken X 10 just to stay alive against Frieza, and the X 20 Kamehameha hurt Frieza slightly. After Goku becomes a Super Saiyan, it’s a wrap for Frieza. Even after Goku lets Frieza go 100%, Frieza couldn’t close the gap in power and he lost Ki over the fight. So while Goku vs Frieza is a “fight”, it is heavily one-sided and it shifts to Goku’s favour after becoming Super Saiyan.

​@@km26_1 I'm only going off of the Kai cut, but Goku was essentially outsmarting Frieza until he ran out of ways to finesse him. Bro hid in smoke, hid in the water, hid in the mountains, caught him lacking on several occasions, used Kaioken, used Kamehameha, used the Spirit Bomb, and Frieza _still_ tanked everything. I would argue it was an even more embarrassing display for Goku in the anime because he got _nothing_ done even with all that effort he put in. Meanwhile Frieza was parting planet's crust in two with just an arm swing.

I’d say cell his main goal was to become perfect and he did (in his own way) he just didn’t know that gohan was strong like that. Frieza failed, buu didn’t have a purpose until kid buu and even then he failed due too spirit bomb, but he DID kill a lot of people which is what he wanted So it’s hard between kid buu or cell cause they actually got what they wanted but died. So my answer is cell cause I like him more simply

I'll die on the hill that Ssj4 Goku vs Baby and Broly vs the Z Fighters should be in the top 5. Ssj4 Goku vs Baby was an amazing pay off to an alarming good arc. Debatably the only arc GT actually handled well. Seeing Chi Chi and Bulma root AGAINST Goku was hard to see for long time fans and it added so much weight to the fight. Goku was alone for so much of it with his only support coming from Pan until Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and Uub get there. As for the Broly fight. Call it a mid movie, call Broly a stupid villain because of his back story, i dont care. The way Broly brutalizes the Z Fighters lives rent free in my head. Using Goku's gut like a trampoline and bouncimg piccolo off his shoulders. Everything. the animation, choreography, the build up. It was all just so well done.

i do agree the villain and first movie is up there.. but a fighting perspective, i can see why it doesn’t make the list… its an excellent beatdown on the Z fighters and showing just how horrifying the “Legend” is. but i dont think anyone even got beyond like… 1 punch/ki blast move. before basically being knocked out till goku wins it. you have the 4v1 little brawl when Broly just sits there and lets him throw punches and kicks. but Z fighters defense game in that movie was non existent 😅

So how come Goku vs. Freeza not on the list? I am always conflicted between Goku vs. Bejita Saiyan arc or Goku vs. Freeza on Namek which is better between the two but both are at my top. As a GT fan I can tell you I am disappointed that at least the fight vs. Omega Shenlong or Baby Bejita are not mentioned. I think the final Baby fight was better between the two personal opinion.

Let the comments settle the top 15. And don do no draft. Make it a tier list or the diagram mode if ur feelin it. Much harder

The real reason why "the Super fight" only got 3rd is because despite the great animation and moment, there isn't really that much actual FIGHTING. When you look at the choreography of half the fights here, the Jiren finale doesn't reach those levels. The animation carries while not having the moves, which is very rare, especially for DB EDIT and tbh if the fight wasn't dragged, Goku vs Caulifla, Kale, Kefla would be higher too. Tbh I dont care. UI Goku vs Kefla alone is better. It's just a one sided battle but I'm still disappointed

ight so before i type this i want to clarify i agree that the gohan vs cell fight is not one of the best fights even tho it had the potential to be but sage is downplaying the HELL out of it. rewatch dbz episodes 186 to 188. gohan and cell we’re going BLOW FOR BLOW. Gohan eventually gaining the upper hand gradually in the fight. Cell going full power and trying to shoot every beam he has possible at gohan only for it to not work. between those moments gohan lands SEVERAL hits on cell. like bro that fight was entertaining as hell at least to me personally.
