Just keep in mind that its 16" at the standard air pressure. When offroad in difficult terrain its likely you would drop psi and lose about an inch in clearance. Still great.

Dude, Subaru Outback has 16in ground clearance?!?! So easy to fact check you wrong from Subaru's own website: "Those who want to venture far off-road should consider the Outback Wilderness trim, which offers the most ground clearance of any Subaru vehicle at 9.5 inches"

Heck of a learning curve, but looks worth it. Even with a 1" drop of lowering tire pressure when needed, that clearance is still very impressive. Especially being true clearance with no transaxle. Great video.

@@LouisFerreira we can compare difference between 2012 model S & 2023 model S, they don't even share identical exterior anymore, it's more like a similar, or I would say same, but not identical. But under the hood? There is nothing from the original model S anymore, absolutely nothing. That's the power of Tesla, they're evolving nonstop, unlike other OEMs which are refreshing their cars based on years & waiting a year to implement internal changes & add some exterior changes to increase price artificially & justify it.

It looks like you could use the adjustable ride height to change a wheel. All you would need is a jack stand to place under the jacking point when the suspension is in its highest setting and then when you lower the suspension the wheel will lift off the ground as the vehicle rests on the jack stand.
@oisiaa

I don't think air suspension can *lift* a wheel off the ground. Maybe you'd be able to manually push it upwards, but I'm skeptical.
@mwolrich

on my ancient 2012 Tesla Model S, you have to put the vehicle in “Jack Mode”, or the air suspension tries to adjust itself for a level ride.. I doubt this would work.
@timmo42

The Citroen DS could do this, but that was a hydro pneumatic system that could lift the wheel. It could work with Air suspension but a mechanical tether is needed to compress the affected corner.

In addition to self-leveling, you have to remember that there are sway bars that limit the articulation left-right. I think only Land Rover has the patent on un-lockable sway bars. This is part of the problem with adding obvious features in any product, another brand may hold the "intellectual property". This is why the "free market" produces lots of products, but not really an ideal product.

I also expect Extract Mode to have zero suspension movement available, as it is at maximum air pressure, so a very painful ride, which is probably also why it tooked to be disabled above ~10MPH. I once had a BMW 520D tourer with full air suspension have a short due to water ingress below the spare wheel well (where lots of electronics are) that caused the suspension to max-out, looking like crazy-high coil-lifters. I had a 15 mile drive home that was excruciating at 30-40MPH - the whole car had become unsprung mass, so everything was getting battered about!

@bry2k
@bry2k 6 ай бұрын
Have you done the math on the range? There's a KZbinr couple posting videos of their long road trip. It's working out to about 650 watts per mile. Here's the math: 123000/650 = 189 miles (without a trailer). Now halve that with a trailer on, and you're talking about a truck with 95 miles of range (absolute max 100% down to 0%, so it's more like 80-85 miles of range pushing it to the absolute limit). I drive an F-550 with a 50 gallon bed tank. I can go 500+ miles towing 14,000 lbs. You put a gooseneck on this thing, I assume you're needing to tow near max capacity of 10K lbs. With this "truck", you are going NOWHERE buddy. You and your gooseneck trailer rig will be parked on the side of the highway waiting for a $1500 tow job. It's ridiculous. To answer your question, the battery back looks to be forward of the rear axle, so theoretically you can punch a hole through the bed and throw a ball in there, though it remains to be seen how difficult it will be to bolt or weld a proper cross member on to the frame for a gooseneck or 5th wheel. But unless you're towing heavy loads not much more than 50-75 miles, you can't get far enough to justify using this thing for towing. Forget about it.

Unrelated to this video. I’ve got sort of an advanced question. So back in the day pre model x/s refresh tesla Gen 2 wall chargers used to require a 100amp breaker and put out up to 80 amps. Although my 2018 model X would only take 72 amps. I’m wondering if the cyber truck can take all 80 amps from the gen 2 charger? Considering the battery in the cyber truck is 25% larger than the X/S and with the extended range pack is most likely going to be 75% larger than the X/S. Considering all of this it’s going to be a challenge to get the truck charged from 10%-90% overnight on the gen 3 48amp limited wall connector. I’m wondering if you guys have access to a gen 2 charger and can verify if the truck can in fact take the full 80 amps. This would be very beneficial to know for anyone who is planning on using the cyber truck as a work truck that carries tools and tows on a regular basis. Thanks for the great videos.

Is there a system limitation on the air compressor? Could an Auxiliary compressor be fitted? Could the factory compressor be replaced? If intending to use the Cybertruck for off-road having a high volume compressor would likely be one of the first upgrades. T-sportline could sell a tyre inflation kit piggybacked on to the lines supplying suspension; a take off valve and short hose for each corner. Also can you guys talk to Tesla and ask them to upgrade the software for a tyre change mode; air suspension to maximum height on all but the effected wheel. I'm sure that the air compressor will be pricey to replace. Air ride on my Yukon fails occasionally and currently on my 3rd at 200k miles. Parts vary in price too, but so far Tesla doesn't have many affordable aftermarket options.

Can you set a capacity limit for the outlets so if you know you need 30% to get home it will shut off the outlets at a job site when you reach the limit you set I believe Ford had that.
@babybirdhome
@babybirdhome 6 ай бұрын
When you get out of the truck, it shuts off, and when you get back in, it turns itself back on. Since off-road is not a standard mode, it’s one that resets itself when you restart the vehicle so by default it’s not going to turn on in off-road mode. You weren’t able to switch it back on because you were in drive and not park, again. You can only change to that mode in park, and you’d have to do that when you first get into the truck. Also, you probably didn’t have autopilot available because you were in off-road mode. It makes sense that autopilot isn’t going to work when you’re not on a road - there’s nothing for the AI to key in on to know how or where to drive.

Wait until the warranty is up and the air suspension starts to fail, this is common on pretty much all other cars with air suspension. You might not have a problem but if you do expect it to cost like a land rover or the german cars to fix it. Some of the guys buying the CT will be financing it and paying for it long after the warranty is up. When it was $39,000 I could see it but starting price at $60,000 before taxes and other expenses. The repo guys are going to be busy.

Used market is going to be filled with these and I wonder how many are going to get stuck offroad I seen a rivian truck last year but it had a lift kit and bigger tires and was a beast offroad. Musk needs to go back and look at actual offroad trucks available in the market raptor,trx,bronco,jeeps, and he needs to actually get outside and go off-road sometime so he has that experience to better his truck or have an offroad enthusiast show him. I would like a neon green Baja Edition CyberTruck. Glad I will let the gueina pigs test the first models till Elon gets them right haha lmfao 😂😊🎉

Replaced rear suspension air bladders on BMW X5 for $70 in Amazon parts. The pump would have cost $200 once it finally fails. There will indeed be sprawling aftermarket and low cost third party repair shops capable of these easy swap outs, a few years from now.

I want to see a Cybertruck 5-years from now that lived it’s entire life in the Midwest rust-belt. I’m super curious how corrosive municipal road salt will effect the 1.8mm (4 door skins) and 1.4mm (tailgate, quarter panels, fenders, front valance and frunk) Tesla proprietary stainless steel. It would be a real world test on how rustproof the SS alloy actually is as opposed to controlled tests in a lab setting.
