Since you talked about the Indian giant squirrel, here's info on the red giant flying squirrel: While the Indian giant squirrel is found only in India, the red giant flying squirrel is found in a wide variety of forest-types, plantations and more open habitats with scattered trees, ranging from the Himalayas to central China and the Indonesian island of Java. The red giant flying squirrel usually travels between trees by long glides, up to at least 100 to 150 m (330 to 490 ft), reputedly even 450 m (1,480 ft). Most glides are no longer than 50 m (160 ft). They're largely nocturnal, starting its activity just before dusk and retreating at dawn. The day is typically spent in a hole in a tree that is 10 m (33 ft) or more above the ground. And regarding porcupines, I wanna point out that Old World porcupine quills don't have barbs, the New World ones do! Here's an Old World porcupine fact: The Philippines has their own species of porcupine called the Philippine porcupine. They are endemic to Palawan. It's known locally as durian or landak. Locally common to uncommon, the species is found in primary and secondary forest in the mountains and in the lowlands. This species also inhabits caves but is commonly found under tree buttresses or in rock crevices. It is sadly persecuted by farmers as pests in coconut plantations.

All porcupines have barbs. Don't share facts if they aren't facts. The cuticle of the spines faces towards the root of the quill just like in new world porcupines. You can only see it with a microscope in new world and old world porcupines. This cuticle facing the root is the barbing in both species. It just so happens there are many sources of misinformation about this on the internet it seems. So I see how you got misinformed in the first place. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=jurnalbiologi.perbiol.or.id/storage/journal/2776f4cd-ea3b-4700-844c-36ccc16eb6ef/journal-22042021074223.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjW9avYhYSBAxWclWoFHTMZDQk4ChAWegQICBAB&usg=AOvVaw1YQH_GqGfWQD0PFJQ7HaIi

My dad used to hunt and a porcupine scared him once. He was hunting Elk and while he sitting on top of a ridge line watching a group of them, he heard rustling behind him and saw a big brown shape. He thought it was bear at first, but he yelled and the porcupine just turned and walked off 😂. He said it was the worst jumpscare of his life.

Giant glyptodonts are actually no more ancient than living armadillos. Although they've been around for some 48 million years, glyptodonts didn't really start reaching massive sizes (1-2 tons) until the Pliocene-Pleistocene (5 million to 10,000 years ago), and the true giants like Glyptodon, Glyptotherium, and Doedicurus lived long enough to encounter the first Native Americans, and we even have evidence of human predation.

Old world and new world porcupine aren't in the same family. New world porcupine are more related to capybara (you know, giant rodents) than they are to old world porcupine. Apart from the squirrels (which apparently can't be hunted by birds, mammals or snakes in trees) none of the animals mentioned are part of the same family.
