This lens is quite tiny and solidly constructed. The aperture ring and focusing ring are really smooth. When the aperture is fully open, the bokeh is beautiful. At f1.8, the sharpness is already not bad. From my one-year personal experience, the sharpness is adequate. As for purple fringing, it basically doesn't matter when taking pictures of people. The main impact is in street photography, but just close down the aperture a little and it'll be okay. It's very cost-efficient.

A very down-to-earth, real world review of this new and intriguing lens. It's a fun lens and not a perfect lens. Having said that it is now making a crinkly sound in my shopping cart wish list. Great review and thank you.

The lens looks really sharp even on the a7siii! I also like your new studio background :)

It definitely produces great shots if you keep a few things in mind. Just a heads up, the studio is about to change up again pretty soon ;)

the thing that interested me the most is use on a FF. - this is something not many aps-c lenses can do honestly. Most cheap chinese lenses viniete too much (like huge!) . So this one while used with a speedbooster 0.71x it should give almost 50mm (more like 57mm) and speed like f/0.85 without vinietting from my math ;D ? right?!

very cheap, is it good for low light too ??

Hi Paul. Thanks for the review. So you are saying that this lens can cover almost a full-frame area? It would be great if you can help us test to verify at which magnification of clear image zoom the vignetting would clear up? Thank you in advance!

It seems using 4K 24fps with active stabilization gets the job mostly done. That’s a 1.1 crop. With most of those, I found the vignetting not very noticeable. It seems using a clear zoom for 1.1 can give best results. Let me know if you have other questions!

@@paulAntill wow that's pretty amazing for an almost FF 50mm f1.2. You just made my decision so much easier. Thank you, Paul. Hope you can do the same for the TTarisan 35mm f1.4 too?

Thanks, Eric! This was a fun lens to shoot b-roll with even on the a7siii.
