I got my hardcopy of the 5e version of Iron Kingdoms RPG, based on Privateer Press' successful Warmachine and Hordes skirmish games. This includes the Monsternomicon, a starter adventure and sundry other supplementary materials and gubbins.

The problem with their own system is that no one plays it in significant numbers. As with the 3E D20 boom, going 5e makes commercial sense by tapping into a potential massive customer base. If this goes mass market I might pick the game up whereas I have/had no interest in their own system because I'd struggle to get my group to try it. It's a chore to get a group to try a new system, especially if they don't want to pick up their own copy of the book. There is the nub of the issue - we can wail and gnash our teeth but practicalities win out. You're thinking of Eberron - my favourite D&D setting. Iron Kingdoms sounds perfect for ripping stuff for Eberron - an arcane punk setting.

I'm still so disappointed that Privateer decided to take the ttrpg to 5E. Their system was excellent and unique, but now they've decided to go where the popularity is. I get it but I hate it. Good review nonetheless.
