I"m glad to see this video out here since im now seeing an overhearing issues with my H3 09 130k. I think that it mine might have just gotten worse since i'm now hearing a hissing sound coming from what looks like the top of the radiator. I did last fall change my thermostat Twice because having forgot the gasket the first go around. Will look into this more! Thanks

I ordered a funnel kit on amazon and none of the caps that come with system fit my radiator. I check other funnels all state they have the D size cap which doesn't fit 2007 Hummer h3. Which exact kit did you buy?

Ok so I’m apparently late to this post because I have an 06 H3 and have changed the motor as well as the transmission after, the radiator, water pump, thermostat and all the hoses, caps etc… mine still runs about 3/4 but I have a question if anyone could answer please? Is it also normal for it to go up higher than 3/4 while going up say an extended incline? I live in TN and go up the mountains in Gatlinburg for my job a lot and it always runs hotter when I go up a steep hill/mountain? Any ideas?

Does it go 3/4 of the way if your parked or stopped? Currently have that problem.

Dude! Thank you! I’ve installed a new radiator and a transmission cooler. Plus and extra fan. Gauge still goes up about 3/4 of the way. Never even thought air could be the problem. Trying this ASAP. And yes, everyone says it’s normal. But I can smell it getting hot and it runs different. I live in Austin and it’s always hot. Haha. Again, thank you!

Definitely going to try this. My gauge runs slightly higher to and was told by shop its normal, because cooling system checked out fine. No one with basic auto knowledge likes seeing their temp gauge do that.

Which specific kit did you get from Amazon? They have several and some comments say they aren't compatible with GM or Chevy. Ty for your help. I have a Infiniti G35 coupe and went through a similar process.

Make sure to use a torque wrench for the water pump bolts. Those bolts are only torqued down to 7lb/ft. So anything less the pump will leak and too tight the bolts will strip
@rizkybiss3 жыл бұрын
Just got ahold of one of those. Going to try this weekend. Have you noticed and difference on temp guage?
@tubeabq3 жыл бұрын
Yes. The temp needle sits right at the middle now. During acceleration/driving the needle moves just below the middle
@rizkybiss3 жыл бұрын
@@tubeabq okay cool. My temp gauge was always above half all the time. I'm not sure if I told you before in another post but I thought it was the motor. Then the motor blew and I put another motor in it and it was doing the same thing. I already change the radiator water pump fan clutch etc... so now I'll try this as my last effort. If it continues after that I will just call it normal.
@rizkybiss3 жыл бұрын
Well I tried everything the same as you after I bought the funnel. It's still reading the same on my temp gauge. My scanner is telling me the temps range from 195 to 205 max with the weather right now in Cali. I expect in the summertime it might reach as high as 215 degrees even though the Gage will run almost to the 3/4 mark with AC on. I can't find a lot about proper engine temps on the inline 5 on forums. My question is is that an acceptable temp? What temperature should I be worried about?
@tubeabq3 жыл бұрын
From what I read on the Hummer forums, it should be between 175-205°F.
@rizkybiss3 жыл бұрын
@@tubeabq that's weird because it did it with my first motor. I changed the complete motor and the gauge does the same thing
@tubeabq3 жыл бұрын
Well if anything, you could dump some coolant and just add distilled water plus 2 bottles of Watter Wetter. Remember, its the water in the coolant that cools the engine.
@rizkybiss3 жыл бұрын
That's awesome. My 06 h3 temp always hovers between 1/2 and 3/4. So I bought a Bluetooth scanner and downloaded an app on my phone to check the temp when I'm driving. Halfway mark is 195 degrees and 3/4 is 220 degrees. I'm not sure if that's too hot. It did it with my first engine and I recently replaced the engine and it's still doing it so I think it's a temperature gauge Miss calibration. I also changed the water pump myself and the fan clutch and had the thermostat replaced with the engine swap. There's actually a GM bulletin regarding it. But I still want to try the burping method. Can you send me the link to where you bought your coolant burper?
@tubeabq3 жыл бұрын
I dont have the link but just search "No Spill Coolant Funnel Kit" in Amazon.

@tubeabq3 жыл бұрын
Yeah mine did the same thing. It did take me a while to burp all that air out. About 3 hours over 3 days (burped it for about a hour a day). Just take your time. Burp it for a little then drive it and let it pressurize then burp it some more
@Jay-ll9ip2 жыл бұрын
Did it work for you risky?
@rizkybiss2 жыл бұрын
@@Jay-ll9ip no it did not work for me. But if you go on KZbin videos and Hummer H3 forums, there is a lot of info about the temp gauge always hovering above halfway. It's the way they are. There's also a GM bulletin regarding the Miss calibration of the temp gauge which is unrepairable. Plus h3s do run a little warmer.

If it’s doing that you have a bad head gasket !
@davieschisha5936Ай бұрын
If the H3 hummer is overheating the radiator is most likely clogged.
@rustytygart4053 жыл бұрын
You don’t think that maybe the bubbles are from the system being open and allowing water pump cavitation and the heat problems are just thermostat
@tubeabq3 жыл бұрын
No. The radiator cap is off but the funnel has coolant in it. No air is being sucked in. My thermometer sits right at the center now. I'll make a video update showing the results

I learned this bleeding process when I had an Infiniti G35. Those things are a pain in the butt to get all the air out of the cooling system.
@tbous72282 жыл бұрын
Burping of air is necessary. You know you have to burp the system when you see the coolant temperature above the setpoint for the termostat and if you see it fluctuating - even a bit. To successfully burp the system, the opening (the radiator cap or the funnel) must be higher than any other part of the cooling system. The person making the video does appear to do what is necessary - revving the engine on a regular basis, and taking it for a spin occasionally. This displaces air that is trapped inside - it can only be removed through agitation. Note that when you bleed most other cars, you but merely have to press up and down on the nose of the car to get it to bounce. Unfortunately, I am not strong enough to bounce the front of my Hummer (thats why driving it around is beneficial). Be careful when opening the radiator cap when hot (my legal disclaimer).

These trucks made it like this . If temperature gauge is going to 3/4 that is totally normal . If goes above that goes to red color zone then is overheating othervise u do whatever u want that not going to change for sure thanks

They can operate at 3/4, but they throttle the power to prevent damage and actual overheating. The operating range is around 2/4. You can feel the difference.

It’s the clutch fan
@tubeabq Жыл бұрын
The fan clutch could be the reason but I had replaced it before I did this. So in my case, it wasn't the fan clutch.
@fredalbright3864 Жыл бұрын
@@tubeabq I have a snowplow on mine. I had to put a electric fan in place of it because, my blade creates a draft that would stop the clutch fan from spinning. I bought 2 clutch fans before I hooked my phone up by the battery to record it. A lot of those clutch fans are junk. By a factory or a Haden. If it drops down when you turn your heat on going 55-75 but goes up at idle then I’d say it’s the clutch fan . Never know , good luck
