Hummer H3: How to get rid of the "SERV TPM" message in your dashboard

Just spoke with a Gm tech today 2/29/24 and he said there is an update for H3 and Colorado/canyon BCM for TPMS update that should fix mysterious on off of serv tpms

Thank you so much for posting this simple fix. I saved $2000 to fix my Hummer H3 SERV TPM message. I followed your instructions with a stopwatch (10 sec) and every tire chirp 🙂 I recommended your video to TIRE CHOICE AUTO CENTER who couldn’t fix my problem since my tire sensors batteries were out $400 per tire to fix all five tires (spare included). 😊

Happy it helped! I wish that removong tires from the rims wouldn't so hard without the proper tools (or without damaging the rims). If it wasn't from that, we could fix if so quickly and for way cheaper! It's weird tho, they should have the manuals for those vehicles....they are an auto center. Well, atleast yoi saved money hahaha

That's great... My TPM warning light is on in my new 2006 Hummer H3 but when I try to do this procedure my Emergency Brake light does not activate when I depress the pedal ! Never fails ! Now I have 2 things that I have to fix ! MERRY CHRISTMAS !

@@inOZ8434 I did not get TPM alert corrected yet. I did air my tires up to 40lbs. from 33 lbs to get a little better MPGs. Mine had 305/75R16 wheels and tires on it when I bought it ! Not sure about any MPG inrease with it yet tho.... haven't driven it a bunch lately. I still use my 2002 VW Jetta TDI (52mpg) car because I'm super cheap !

Thanks! Didn't know I could have a fan hahaha, I appreciate that! The main thing really is to check the gas pump problem. They have a tendency to rust and corrode the fuel lines attached to it. If it smells like gas it will be gas! The other thing is the problematic sunroof/moonroof: the drains have a tendency to clog and water gets in the panels, it can fry your electronic! Check the carpet on the floor driver and passenger side for moisture or water! The front bearing can go every 5 years or so. Depends on how rough you drive it. I would suggest checking that out. The rough idle isn't that much a concern but if it shakes a lot it could be the engine mounts that are gone! And finally, the engine head may have one of the 2 following problems: 1 the valve seat can chip away, that was the major problem with the 3.5 engine. most got all fix by now tho. 2 the studs that connect the manifold can break in the head. so make sure to get a light and look at those studs on the side of the engine! What made you sell it?

I have a 2006 adventure/luxury with leather seats and rear locker. 194,000 miles on frame but new engine with 90,000. New water pump and fan clutch. Fully rebuilt tranny, fully rebuilt borg-warner 4494 transfer case, both still under warranty. new Bilstein shocks, new falcon wild peak tires. Lol I'm ready to sell it if ya want it. $12k.

Not that I am aware or from experience. Usually, I see that when one of the ABS sensors are defective. And they can be a pain to replace as corrosion will weld the sensor in the hole.

Hi! Seems that the batteries are dead in the sensors. Does the horn make a sound when you turn your light off after pressing the park brake? (Just like the video) When you deflate the tires, you did deflate the tires for atleast 10 second, right? And you tried all the tires and the only one that made the sound was the front passenger? Pretty aure at this point all the batteries are dead or nearly dead. You can at this point buy new sensors with new batteries: www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/hummer,2006,h3,3.5l+l5,1431872,wheel Just know that some sensors need to be programmed for your specific models (depending on the companies that made the sensor: aftermarket vs OEM).

Can't seem to get the truck to chirp once. Everything else worked well to get into the initializing mode. The first tire did not respond. Tried for 10, 12, 15 seconds. Also tried increasing the airflow. Discount Tire checked the TPS, all were working.

Hi, did you try to all the tires individually? What I mean is that you start the procedure like you are doing, but instead of starting with the front driver side, you would go to the back driver side, and try the air release. Then reset the module and try with another tire, like the front passenger side, and so on. One problem that seems to occurs, is that some people doesn't release enough air from the tire (not enough pressure on the valve). If you tried to reset the module and tried a tire, reset the module and try another tire, and you still have no success, I would need more details on when the message started to pop in your dash board. The reason is it could be a faulty TPM, but I don't want to jump to that radical diagnostic without making sure it's not just the batteries being low. The batteries may have enough juice to show on a test but not enough to connect properly. Did you try the spare tire too? Right now, we are trying to figure whats working and what is not. Lastly, if you have an OBD2 scanner, try to reset the codes, and check them back. Let see what shows up after the reset. Keep me posted!

Thank you for making this video..it is so useful. I tried to do the reset procedure today but I made a mistake by bending valve core and now my valve leaks air. I put a cap on and it is not leaking anymore but that is not the way to fix the problem. I will need to replace valve core on that wheel. Do you know which type of valve core goes into H3? Also, which batteries go into wheel? Thank you sir.

Hi, sorry to read that you bend one of the valve core. In resume, usually all core for passenger vehicles have the same diameter, just not the same lenght. The longuer one are the standard ones. The other difference between them is the color ring around the valve core. The black ring can resist to higher temperature compare to the red one. The last difference is the core material. There is the brass and Nickel (or some call them metal). For a TPM it is suggested to use the metal one, but all in all it does the job of a valve! * any car part store has them in stock for about 0.50 cent a pieces. So you be back on the road in no time. To remove a valve core you will need a small tool (usually, really cheap in price) named the valve core tool. Ermin, I would suggest to change the valve before driving your H3. Just incase the valve core is to much damaged and that the only thing holding the pressure. Don't want you to get injured my friend.

How did the job go? Just saw your comment. Honestly there isn't much. Beside to be carefull not too break too many clips when removing the plastics, but those clips are common at part shops. It is a good idea to change them of they are broken it prevent vibration noises when driving haha Pretty sure it will go well!

From what I know, and this one is really just by what I saw and not founded by my work. Is that most guys told me the replacement battery wasn't working well when they did it. (Not as much life capacity in the battery) So I mostly suggest to change the whole thing, but like I said I never venture to try it. I can check for the details and come back to you.

Hi! If you to a reset to remove the SERV TPM don't do the spare tire. When you do the full reset, start from the front driver side, move to the passenger front side, rear passenger after, and finally rear driver side. The full reset will be done and you will be good to go! The purpose is to kick the spare out of the cycle and only keep the tires that are being used to drive around. Cheers!

Sorry for the delay, Hmm, a weird sound and a lack of power could be a burned ignition coil. Does it smell of gas? Best idea for now is to get one of the OBD2 scanner (the price of the scanner doesn't really matter as long you get the code for the problem) Once you get the code write it down. You can find cheap bluetooth OBD2 scanners now for about 15$.

I got a reduced power message along with service tpm and Hummer would go to max of 20 but for the first 5 minutes after message it would go max 2 mph

@@playfulmean hey! Could be a few things, but quick questions. 1) do you do a lot of offroad or is there a lot of dust where you are from? 2)do you have a sunroof/moonroof on your h3? If you have an obd2 scanner could you plug it in to see at the codes? What I always hope from those scenario is that the pcm on the firewall is just full of dirt and it just need to be clean with a can of electronic cleaner (its safe for epectronic parts).

So even though the spare has a sensor, you don’t let the air out and sync it?

Exacly, the sync can only take 4 tires and it should be all those on the H3 starting from the front driver side, then front passenger side, back passenger, and final back driver. It should set the whole thing if everythong worked and each tires made the chirping noise. You may need a small drive to remove the message in the dash
