Beryl is forecast to gradually weaken this week as it faces wind shear and some dry air. Wind shear will begin to gradually weaken the storm later this week.

they wont. it will create to much false security. we floridians already dont leave unless its a cat 4 or bigger. even then if its not a direct hit we usually still have a hurricane party. if ppl see a cat 5 on a 6 scale, it will be no different than a 4 vs 5 for us who are used to it.

That's how Andrew was when it made landfall sustained at just under 215 mpr,gusts of 250 plus mpr in the Redlands. It earsed the city of Homestead in under a few hours. Have only heard of 2 others along northern Austaralia since Andrew....now Beryl.

Andrew was sustained at 165 mph with gusts of 202 mph at landfall . Labor Day 1935 was sustained at 185 mph with gusts at 250 mph . Camille was sustained at 175 mph with gusts of 234 mph at landfall . Both of these were stronger than Andrew . The 1935 hurricane still holds the worldwide lowest barometer record at landfall .

The pressure never reached category five level while the winds crrtainly did . 165 mph with 200 mph gusts . 1935 Labor Day in Fl Keys was at 892 mbs and Camille hit Mississippi in 1969 at 900 mbs .

Cannot always go by the the models prediction on strength, mother nature is capable of defying, those predictions. Path/trajectory yeah most certainly can go based on the models if you expand the cone an additional 50 to 100 miles

​​@@claudialupperthe high pressures are the ones to blame because they are retracting back to the east and their causeing beryl to hit Texas and Louisiana. In those states are part of the US. The high pressure should be in the west to take Beryl to the East and I was hoping for that to happen but it never happened sucks!

You can’t really compare the two. Hurricane is a straight line wind. Tornado is spin with uplift.

​@markpalavosvrahotes5575 I get what yiu mean but the winds are still very similar. Same MPH is the same MPH. Hurricanes at this lvl are worse because how big and slow they move. Winds that high is literally an EF3 Tornado lasting for HOURS everywhere when it makes landfall it's wayy scarier once it reaches these lvls. Torandoas are more destructive but at this point the hurricane is on the same lvl or worse I pray everyoke who gets hit :(

The winds are over-stated as usual. When the lowest barometric pressure reading is at 935, the maximum sustain winds between 1 minute to 10 minute intervals will range between 140 - 150 mph tops. Once a storm reaches 125 mb and under, and especially 120 mb and under, that's when you're talking about a monster on its move. Time to start presenting right people.
