The snow here was exceptionally wonderful. We had 14 degrees and we never do. I’m over 60, so this was a happy surprise in my life. The bottom of the boot in Louisiana only has snow that never covers anything 😂. We had about a foot of snow it was fabulous. I can only imagine how cold y’all are often.

My husband and I usually spend a quiet Valentine’s Day at home and he cooks me ( he’s a fabulous cook) a lovely dinner of my choice. How lucky am I? This week I finished a cabled hat and scarf (not the same pattern but close enough for me). I used 2 skeins of an acrylic from my stash with no label. Scarf is shorter length but more manageable to wear...win! I'm trying to use up a single skein next. It is a 2 ply acrylic @14wpi. I was thinking fingerless gloves but I am just not confident about the patterns I have found so far. I am mostly trying to math for the cast on.

I always bake little heart shaped cakes and give them to special people for Valentine's day. I actually bake thin sheet cakes and cut the hearts out using a 3" cookie cutter. I make the frosting and pour it over the cakes like you would for petit fours.

I started knitting after a lifetime of crocheting. My second knit project was a pair of custom fit socks, following several videos by Roxanne Richardson. Even after years of knitting, I still have not used a pattern. I have added lacework to my custom pattern. So, I did a gauge swatch, used the swatch to figure my cast on stitches, and went from there. I really can't see myself buying a sock pattern that won't fit my feet properly. And yes, I have tried several heel styles, until I found the one that works for me.

Hello gals. Regarding knitting with sock yarn, I find that the “patterned” yarns come with a recommended needle size and if you don’t use that size, you may not get the same pattern as on the ball band.

Noelle, count me in on dealing with those newer ChiaoGoo cables . This swivel is not working for me . I do love the thinness of them when doing magic loop . My daughters while in college were rough on their cords (computer , ear buds , mice ) and I started using some of that thin (no adhesive) teflon tape plumbers use on the the threaded joins. Works great on a repair . So far , I've wrapped the join tightly with it for now. Appreciate any other ideas people have found to make the join less catchy . Being a tight knitter does not help of course

Im not sure if you’ve seen that some podcasters who are knitting triangular cowls are leaving some of the bottom portion open to allow this type if cowl to sit better on the shoulders and closer on the neck. Hope this helps.

My husband and I usually go out for dinner. But not always. It used to be more fun before I retired. I used to teach. The kids were so excited about it all. But I think I would feel guilty if I won one of your lovely little hearts. It causes you pain to sew them.
