In that pantheon she is goddess of the sun, and a benevolent protector of Japan. My Gunslinger: (confused as all hell) ....So is she usually a dog?

At first, I was like "Oh, Ammy, that could be interesting". Then I was like "Wait a minute. This is a character ENTIRELY FOCUSED on Calligraphy." And just like that, I knew-most OP character to date, a must watch.

While the Athlete feat (or is it athlete's foot?) might seem weak, there is a niche use for it. If you climb/jump 10ft into the air and drop on your enemy, the enemy needs to make a dc 15 dex save or take and half the fall damage and more importantly get knocked prone if they are at most 1 size larger. since you also take damage from the fall, you are also knocked prone. With the Athlete feat you can spend only 5ft to get up, allowing you to attack the prone opponent with advantage on every attack, and impose disadvantage on your enemy's opportunity attack when you step away, and on their turn the enemy must spend half their speed getting up (or crawl at half speed for the same result) so they can't chase after you effectively. This is a trick for the low levels, since multiclassing into caster with concentration spells and taking deliberate damage don't go hand in hand, and Monk 4 gets Slow Fall to not take damage or fall prone in the first place, so they stop relying on the feat but the trick is still nice.

(And his spelling is good too) I'm not a man of perfectionism, while Amaterasu is all about a perfect display of letters, the impecable order of the sentence and the wonder of the correct use of the punctuation simbols, I like lemurs, the enjoyment of fisticuffs and a simple minded approach to do the adventure work (wonder if Tulok can do a build for her soon), but both ways you can still can achieve great acts of heroism, even if the power of ink and god is in this build side.

You know, even without the OP skill that is Caligraphy (that is probably banned by any smart DM anyway), this is a very powerful build, if your only drawbacks are a low hp that won't be reached anyway with an AC of 24 plus Patient Defense OoO, low Int who isn't a very important stat, let's be fair and a little RP difficulty this is unironically a very nice build, after 400+ characters you can't really go wrong with Mr. Tulok here, good job sir, I hope we reach another 400 characters, at least!

Just another reminder that D&D should have an official dog race… Honestly, in respect to this particular build, they could have a dog race affiliated with one of the Outer Planes…a celestial dog race could reflect their goodness. Alternatively, maybe a dog race could be related to Blink Dogs from the Feywild. This is a great Wisdom-based build…I’d had done a “painter” build prior with Bladesinger Wizard w/ Artificer Initiate feat for Painter’s Supplies…painting Intelligence spells into existence.

Lupinals. 3.5 had an entire species of Celestials based on different animals, filling the Neutral Good alignment slot. Lupinals and...one other I can't recall were the canine ones. So if you wanted to run with aasimar stats and go "my character os an anthropomorphic canine" it is supported by both lore and mechanics.

Took it a bit further: they were a Small race; and essentially a bi-pedal corgi. Based off a really neat-looking D&D corgi character-concept art. Adorably badass.

Khenra from the amonkhet book would also be a good substitute for race giving even more movement, immunity to the frightened condition and a few weapon prof in javlin, spear, and Khopesh which is basically just a longsword. only downside unless you alter the linage with the race, the stats you gain are dex+2 and str+1.
