The way he said “Nothing surprises me anymore” I felt that!! From a Sooner fan, I have the upmost respect for Mike Gundy! Ever since his own alumni punished him for wearing a conservative t shirt, which I defended him on, I saw him in a different light.

OU has Bob Stoops and OSU has Mike Gundy. They will add his name to the stadium/field/athletic facility when he retires. He rightfully earned it too.

As a Sooner fan like myself, most of us know that Cale Gundy, Bob Stoops, Calvin T, and Demarco Murray are pretty pissed of.. You see from the outside looking people may think this was all about the money but it's not. Lincoln Riley already agreed to this on the under when he didn't show up for that conference or media meeting before the Baylor game. After we lost, he came less than 24hrs after the game and told the team he was taking the job. He only met with the players for like 2-3 minutes before he left. Even the coaches and Joe C were shocked. He did that in time so he could jump right into recruiting and leave our guys in a mess. So for anyone who believes this an overnight decision check this out. USC; as part of the agreement, agreed to pay off his Two multimillion dollar homes, putt him in an even bigger multimillion dollar home in LA plus get him a deal that pays him close to 15 million a year. So if you think they talked about that in 24hrs; well then I don't know what to say. Had he atleast let Joe C know atleast 2 weeks ahead of time we may have a coach.. However I was always raised to believe as a kid that " You reap what you Sow".. so my boys got hit hard with recruiting for the 2022 class, but eventually it'll catch up to him. Heck the way he did that USC may have a top 3 recruiting class for 2023: it's just something that shows me that his scandalous act may catch up to. Bite him. Roy Manning is also waiting for his call to be ok to come to LA and get his job back. That's why he got caught just a day ago recruiting for OU and USC. He got caught because a 5-star DB mentioned his name and about still trying to recruit him to USC while going on recruiting trips with Bob Stoops on in- home visits. Alot is coming out quickly but we'll see what happens..

I just wonder if Gundy will have a job. If Venables is coach and brings in a OC. Murray, Cain Calvin T might get position coaches. Unless Gundy stays on as a assistant.

I totally agree with you buddy that this did not get worked out in 24 hours. I promise it's not just my love of Tennessee that I would say this but it certainly feels to me like Lincoln Riley was a scared bitch thinking about the fact that Oklahoma's gonna be in the SEC next year. Instead of choosing to run year after year through the murderous gauntlet that is the SEC ,he took off to arguably the worst conference in college sports, especially for football. I'm a Tennessee fan and yes I'm as embarrassed as a person can be over what happened the night we played Ole Miss. I Just found out that Heupel had already been a coordinator at OU. Although he was canned and that makes me feel a little better. Witnessing the absolutely elelectric atmosphere he has created at Knoxville I think it's still possible that OU would go after him. I definitely don't see the OU fanbase complaining especially after seeing the way he came to Tennessee which everyone knows we've been in the dumps for 25 years now and the dude walks in 1st year and scores more points than any team in SEC history… Jesus H Christ..PLEEEAAASSEEE DON'T LEAVE US JOSH. KNOXVEGAS KNOWS AFTER JUST ONE YEAR THAT WE ARE 4EVER YOURS!!!!

Riley was offered the job before Helton was fired in week 2. Riley's been recruiting for USC since September. USC knew they had him. Handshake deal. They had no coaching search. Anything official would place them on probation for recruiting violations.

Hurts doesn't it to have to go through what all G5 programs and 90% of P5 programs go through regularly. Fact is: This is a business and fan bases would do well to just say "whatever" and move on to the next man up. With the NIL, big time college football is become NFL development league even more than it was and it has been like that for some time. Look forward to playing y'all in the comming years!

I don't mind him leaving suddenly, but what I do mind is he trashed our season because all season he was prepping to go to USC. He didn't put much effort in and it showed, like somehow coming off a bye week completely unprepared. What I also hate is how he's taking so many players and was dishonestly recruiting for USC while being the coach here. Plenty of coaches have moved on without doing any of that crap. Even Frost, as awful as he's been, stayed to coach UCF in the bowl after taking the Nebraska job and stayed devoted enough to his team to prepare them well to win. I can respect making a move for money or just a different opportunity. Riley was half in and half out and that I have absolutely no respect for.

Teams use to have loyalty to the fans (customers). Players loyalty to the school. Coaches to the school, town and players. All have lost that sense. When will this mercenary attitude bleed into the "super fans" and depose their loyalty as well I wonder? We live in the era of "ME."

@@TheBlackAztec3 is loyalty noticeably on the upswing or decline? That's my point. I'm not saying it doesn't exist. College football is professional football now. That was never the intent. Honestly it has been professional football for years. But at least we pretended to some degree it wasn't.

Mike Gundy may not be the greatest coach, no disrespect meant. He does take 2 and 3 star and walk on players and compete generally 7-4 seasons and better, much better most years. Gundy has always said he loves Stillwater, the school, his job, he has taken pay cuts and sacrificed for the school. Gundy, I think is ethical and honest. He is a top 1 or 3 coach in that regard.
