Where did you get the stones? I want to tumble rocks but really want to use ones I find “in the wild” vs buying them online.
@ReikiGemWellness
@ReikiGemWellness 4 жыл бұрын
@@codycast It really depends on the region and state you live in. I live in Texas, so there are not many great rock hounding locations, but states like Oregon and Michigan are a rock hunter's paradise. I would Google your state and "rock hunting" to see what comes up for you. Tumbling rocks you found yourself is incredibly satisfying! 🙌🙌

Thanks for the great videos, keep up the fantastic work. I have a question concerning multiple course stages. From the videos such as this one I notice you added media in with the stones for stage 1. Is that correct! Also could you provide the recipe as it was absent from the video, Thanks so much!

Shannon, what is the percentage of ceramic media you per lb. of Tiger eye and do you use the ceramic media on every stage of grit/polish

What is your personal opinion on plastic media pellets vs ceramic cylinders/ceramic beads?? I know the plastic arnt the greatest for environmental reasons. How would you gage each performance in rough/pre/ polish stages? I really wish I could have a clear lid to see exactly what takes places in thr process between the two

Hi, I am just getting back into rock tumbling after about a 30 year break. Back then I used a polish compound that was a pale blue, have you any idea what it may be as I found it to be excellent. Many thanks. ( I'm in UK)

Hi Shannon. I love your video's. I'm new to tumbling. So do you change out the water and use new grit after a week in course grit? Can I just tumble for 2 weeks and then check? I'm hoping to try tumbling tiger's eye. Thxs!

Hi, are those ceramic pellets , what do they do and are they reusable . Thanks
@ReikiGemWellness
@ReikiGemWellness 4 жыл бұрын
Ceramic media are used for 2 reasons - to fill up the excess space as the stones get smaller, and to provide cushion during the later stages. Yes, these can be washed off and reused

I'm new to rock tumbling, just on my 2nd batch. I'm curious of what kind of tumbler, and what size of barrel you are using? Your stones look rather large, and I Love it. Sweet videos too, Thank You.

I find that the Lortone QT-6 holds 5 pounds of rough very nicely 😃

@@ReikiGemWellness After watching another of your videos, I guessed it was the QT6 barrel you were using, So I ordered the QT66 and then finding out later the QT12 barrel will fit this. So I've got an option there. You've already been such a great help and the biggest thing I've learned is Patience. Sooo muchly appreciated.

I was wondering when you did 3 weeks of course grit, did you put in a new batch of grit for each 1 week interval? or were you running the same initial batch of grit for the whole 3 weeks
@ReikiGemWellness
@ReikiGemWellness 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you clean the stones and put in brand new grit every week. 👍

ive been trying to find a large polished gold tiger eye for my desk with no luck ,it seems no one wants to do this . any advice appreciated, size I would like 200 to 300mm
@ReikiGemWellness
@ReikiGemWellness 4 жыл бұрын
Well, it really difficult to get a solid piece that size - that's nearly a foot long. You could check with roughstone.rocks/ to see if they have something that large, but them you would need someone to carve and polish it. No way that's going into a tumbler. Good luck on your search!

Tigers eye is awesome but when I roughed it for one week a lot of it still came out with cracks and crevices with the grit stuck in there. I had to stick those back in for another week. I think from now on I will be less impatient on the roughing step. Tigers eye seems to be prone to cracks and crevices and the grit will stick in there and make it look dull and white. I really, really appreciate your burnishing advice. I sprayed off about 11 pounds of various agates, tigers eye and similar hardness stones and then I used dish soap and granulated sugar after just the first step of roughing for one week and I left them in there and went and did DoorDash for a day and came back and was tired so I fell asleep and when I woke up I took them out and sprayed them off and they looked like they skipped the next 2 steps and were almost at full polish. That really confused me. But yeah, there was a thin layer of fine grit that was stuck in all the micro crevices on the bottom of the barrel and I guess with the sugar it acted like a polish grit for a day. It was like 65% there for the shine factor. I'm a newbie on this so take what I say with a grain of sugar.
