Mate I give you props for going out bass straight with that boat!! I went out today in my small 4.8 meter boat battling 4 meter swell out eastern entrance Phillip island. First and last time in that small boat 😳

Another awsome video champion. Just wanted to ask you about fishing the 6 inch gulp sand worm you had in your top 5 bream lures video. I have been having a lot of stress, as I get a great hit on them, only to strike and not hook up, but rip the plastic off the hook. Should I be striking as soon as the bite or line twitch, or should I give them a second or two to eat it more after the first hit, any help would be greatly appreciated on how you fish them.
@PaulMalovFishing3 жыл бұрын
Hey Anthony, thanks for watching mate! The big thing i've found in those situations is there's a lot of smaller pickers that attack the worms. I often cut them down to 3-4" in length and retain the thickest part of the body and the skinny thin tail. The other thing can be, you might get a bite from a good fish, but they spit them out very quickly, so you need to strike right away when you feel a tick in the line. Are you fishing them on a weighted head or unweighted? Unweighted or a 1/40th hidden weight is my preferred method!

nice vid bro thinking about getting one of those beast busters howd you reckon they would go off the rocks for salmon and rat kings do they have enough strength to lift them up a couple meters hahaha
@PaulMalovFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jake! For ~2kg salmon they’ll be fine to lift them up but any bigger and I think the softer tip could cause an issue mate. I’d probably want something a touch beefier

What a ripper session. Its my goal this season to finally get out there and hopefully snag a kingie and tuna. What would your recommendations be for a rod/reel setup without a huge budget?

@@PaulMalovFishing starting around the $500 mark is where I’m at, willing to put more in for some quality but not sure if more coin is really going to be worth it
@PaulMalovFishing3 жыл бұрын
Alastair - value for money, a 8000 Shimano Saragosa is hard to beat at around the $350 mark and then see if you can pick up a suitable rod for another ~$150/200. I’d look lightly used on some of the Facey groups, people always upgrading

I’d use a 1/20-1/28th on a 2” - I find the lighter weights are a lot more natural on the sink and tend to not get stuck in the rocks as much as heavier heads like a 1/16th - 1/8th, but don’t cast as well with the lighter heads of course
