Tundra and Tacoma Body Mounts

Check your body mounts! Mine were totally broken and the cab could have literally flown off the frame in an accident. I bought a kit from Prothane Motion Control for about $70 on amazon! Works for Tundra and Tacoma (check the Prothane site first if you need to). I also saw Energy Suspension body mount kits, but Prothane was more affordable.

This kit worked for me on an 05 tundra 4wd. I just had one mount that went bad so that’s all I changed but have the rest if another fails. Just make sure you have plenty of grinding wheels for your dremel. My bolt was a 17 mm and nut was 14 mm which was the only change from the video. Thanks again for the video.

I used this kit to replace the body mounts on. 2000 Tundra. As stated, I had to put the thick OEM washer between the cab and the mount to get the correct alignments of the body to the truck bed. Overall, an easy swap.

UPDATE: This kit works if you replace ALL 6 bushings. If you do not, you will need a thick washer for the mid and back mounts as these are 1/4" thinner than OEM bushings.

What are the symptoms that lead you to discover the bad mounts? Was there any vibration or wobble while driving?

My mounts are pretty rusted and the bushings are looking like crap so I'm looking to replace all of my mounts. But without looking at them I believe the front and rear body mounts are different, so does this setup only work for the rears?

Damon DeMay text me at [phone] so we can go back and forth easier. I believe they are 1/2” bolts. I just did a body lift on my fj cruiser and I bought the bolts at ace hardware. Pretty pricey ($4-5 each). If you cut; just measure the pieces after 🤠

@@BSQ802 I went to “pic a part”and grabbed the mounts I needed. It was a horrific pan in the ass. But it was a used factory mount was replacement was done correctly.

So I was looking into doing this and can't find a listing for parts for my 2006 Tundra. Those parts you used were for a Tacoma. Did they work out okay?

DeClineization yes with our old Tundra’s and their small size they use a lot of the same parts as the Tacoma. Also, all the mounts consist of are giant washers, urethane bushings, and bolts, so you could really use any universal generic kit that has the right thickness.

@@DadsGotADeal Thanks for clarifying. I was reviewing the toyota diagram for the body mounts. There are three positions with one mount on each side. The first position being at the feet of the driver, second position being at the back of the cab and a third position under the bed. It looks like these parts work for the second and third position. Is that right? And thanks for your help.

Just looked again, I think I got mixed up. These mounts are for the four corners of the cab and it looks like there is different part that is further towards the front of the chassis.

DeClineization yes there are 4 identical mounts for the cab corners and 2 small ones near the radiator. There are 2 tiny pyramid rubber pieces at the back of the bed but not essential as far as I can tell. They are helpful for positioning the bed when installing.

@@DadsGotADeal did this work on the tundra you did later on? I have a 2000 tundra access cab sr5 4x4 if that info helps. I just want to make sure before I buy know what I mean? And judging by the door panel trim, it looks like the truck in the video is a tundra.
