Let go of what has passed. Let go of what may come. Let go of what is happening now. Don’t try to figure anything out. Don’t try to make anything happen. Relax, right now, and rest.

How does dorsal fit in here? I only have two feet but I’m in three states in polyvagal.

In the book Deb explains how the states are different and how to get between them. The feet exercises are a way of physically demonstrating how you could shift your weight from one side to another to make it more understandable how you could regulate the speed (by using a brake) to transition between the states. You won’t need three feet as you can’t be in three states at the same time, ie being regulated and dysregulated simultaneously seems unlikely, given their names are self-evident. Getting back to regulated can be achieved with the exercises mentioned in the book and hopefully avoiding getting so distressed (by slowing down the response with the brake) to hit dorsal in the first place is the goal.

@@brandonshepherd5751Thank you! I know that's the official concept that Deb Dana has always used. But I wonder why they put "break" on the title page. I know it's minor, but I wondered if this was a play on words (intentional) or an error.
