I am an 82 year old male crocheter who started at age 11 (yes, I’ve been crocheting for over 70 years). I first tried Tunisian about 40 years ago when making the background fabric for a Bernat cross stitch afghan. The instruction sheet walked me through what I now know was the simple stitch to make the afghan strips. I finished the project, put away the afghan hook, and forgot all about it until I started watching your videos and tutorials about 2 weeks age. You fired me up, girl! Now (after a couple days practice) I’m working on a lace stitch Tunisian scarf project. Can’t wait to see where I go from there.

When you emailed me back with positive feedback, I was completely blown away and felt like a school girl meeting her fave celeb! My advice to any newbies is to learn from you! Your voice is comforting, your instructions and tutorials are simple and easy to grasp, and your glowing personality brightens up the darkest days! I love tunisian crochet because it's fun and it creates beautiful fabrics! I taught myself in 1988 by reading a pattern book so I could make my firstborn's special blanket. We still have it and it was so much fun to learn something new in crochet as I was going to learn life lessons as a new parent. I love it most because it looks like knitting(which I don't know how to do) and can follow a graph to make pictures and color changes easily. I also love watching your videos! Thanks!

I just started Tunisian crochet and coming from someone who has been doing “traditional” crochet up until now I am in LOVE with this style. To anyone nervous to start I actually think it’s much easier than traditional crochet especially when working with difficult yarn such as a stiff cotton. I am having difficulty learning how to add on to pieces that I’ve created to extend one side or another, if you have a video on that? Just found your channel and I love it so far! I’m 75 now, but when I was young even though I crocheted (Grandma taught me), when I saw a book with how to Tunisian crochet I just assumed it was hard - I was thrown off by the name “Tunisian”. It’s foreign like learning a new language, so it will be hard. I had enough hard things in my life so I said I'll pass. There were no videos and definitely no Toni Lipsey to show me how easy it really is. After I retired and saw your videos I gave it a try and I was hooked. My favorite blanket I made is Tunisian. It’s quite the leveller, being less proficient at such a familiar skill. I don’t always find it easy and that is good-it certainly helps me recall vividly what it’s like to be learning so I can help my friends when they get stuck :)

I tried Tunisian crochet at last year's Crochet Academy and bought your book! You are so right that it is meditative and addictive. I'm making the Tunic and the yarn that was recommended in your pattern I had not used before so I thought I would try it. It is very smooth and easy to work with. (unfortunately, I'm drawing a blank on the yarn). I'm so glad that you have made several patterns using this technique. I have arthritis in my hands and find that Tunisian Crocheting isn't as hard on my hands as straight crocheting after doing a long bit of knitting projects. I also want to say what a joy it is watching your videos - you are so enthusiastic, upbeat, encouraging, and sweet. Thanks Toni for sharing your passion!

I've said this elsewhere, but Tunisian crochet was my 'gateway' into crochet. I really struggled with the freestyle of traditional crochet, my brain simply couldn't recognise what I was looking at. So I watched a tutorial showing the anatomy of the stitches and the change in my understanding was almost instant. Recognising the stitches as 3D instead of a flat piece, plus the simple back and forth of Tunisian was a massive help and gave me the confidence to try traditional crochet again. Now, I'm thankful that I can enjoy both, and I've followed many of your amazing tutorials 😊🧶

When making a blanket do all of the stitches have to fit on the hook. Saying like if you have 130 start chain. And when you are changing colors I see you pick up the color along the side does it stay that way when the project is done or do you do some special to finish it off. My brain is on over load and excitement 😅 Thanks for sharing and teaching. ❤

i only know the basic Tunisian stitch so this is my first time hearing about other stitch patterns but even just the basic Tunisian stitch already helps my crochet i use it in tandem with tall crochet stitches to stabilize them by connecting them to the post of the previous crochet stich this speeds up my crochet by allowing me to use double treble crochet with the stability of double crochet not sure if this is already an existing stitch but i found it independently which i'm proud of
