Clutch is easy should be a 2inch dimpled circle in firewall pop it out lines up with factory clutch pedal also happens to be same size as clutch master cylinder. Then add a stud to factory clutch pedal that's how I did mines works great!

This build is just awesome. I wish your channel would blow up cause I want the world to know how capable these old ford's are! Hey, did you fix the oil leak? Maybe check the crank bolts. The ones for the flywheel. Freiburger had a 351w that had an oil leak coming from on of those holes. Maybe worth a look. Goodluck!

Was smooth sailing up until I went to put the transfer case in. Turns out I need an NP205 transfer case in order to clear everything, I have 3 transfer cases and none of them are right! Currently waiting to hear back from my local transmission shop to see if they have one laying around they can rebuild for me, I guess he has 70+ cores so I’m hoping he calls me this week

@@WastedPaycheckGarage what case did you have pls
@WastedPaycheckGarage2 жыл бұрын
Turns out my old one was a 205, the crossmember was wrong (a previous owner swapped this engine and transmission in). I ended up fabricating a new crossmember and using the 205. Having it rebuilt right now. The one that came with the transmission was a BW1356 and would not clear the frame rail.

Same flywheel, just different style pressure plate and ceramic clutch
@pugetlexus2 жыл бұрын
ceramic is a headache.... at least for my uses. on the early cabs, out west here i have never encountered a " pop- out" for a hydraulic clutch master cylinder. im putting together a 67 on an 88 f35 frame 4x. i may get the clutch master past the brake booster but may have to use wilwood remote master. we will see

You have to rtv the oil pan just like you did. I used a one piece felpro on mine and no matter what i did, it would leak. Apparently felpro says to rtv around the rear main cap on non skirted blocks like a 300. If your block is skirted, as in the oil pan mating surface it totally flat, you dont need it.
@bcubed722 жыл бұрын
The oil pans on the later 4.9s have flat mating surfaces, and accommodate a one-piece gasket with metal grommets included. The older 4.9s/300s have raised metal around all the bolt holes, to center the cork gaskets. So, if you want to run a "new" gasket on an "old" pan, you have to file the mating surface smooth, or you WILL have leaks. (Or just run a new pan...the bolt holes are all the same.) I, of course, found this out about a week AFTER installing my engine! I'm losing 1QT/1500 mi, which is right on the bubble of making me want to pull the engine.
@colerippeon39032 жыл бұрын
@@bcubed72 i installed a later pan to use that style gasket. The old pan had the edges around the holes to center the cork gasket.

@@hondaatcfreak420 well the 300 when maintained in my belief is the absolute 100 percent most durable and reliable gas engine in existance, putting a turbo and keeping boost low with low comp pistons i still say the same answer, plus they get crazy good mileage for being a big block (400 Cid with 2 less cyls) (can be bored 4.08 and stroked to 4.4 inches) so definitely big block territory considering adding 2 cyls with that bore and stroke will give 460.4 inches lol 😆 basically a cut down 460 big block at that point lol
