Great job on that crossmember! I just moved the factory one back on mine and it was a pain to get the holes drilled when I swapped a ZF5 into my 79 4wd with a 460. Shifting is not the greatest especially above 3500 rpms but it’s sure nice having overdrive.

very nice work. a couple of points from experience, fab or install a torque rod. the 205 WILL ABSOLUTELY crack your tail casing on the zf. even the 1356 bw cracks the tail housing; and its less than half the weight of the 205. with that better side mount vs the old top mount, you will have fewer torque twist issues where the case wants to move forward. even so a torque rod is insurance. even, even so, be sure you are not loading the tailshaft. they crack on top and around the mounting bolts for the case halves. a torque strap on the engine, and vigilant monitoring of the mounts for deterioration helps keep things in line. use the 1350 u joint on the rear output shaft when you get to that point in your build.

Cool, very cool. Be neat to see how this works out. I think it'll make a big positive difference.

NP205 rebuild Kits are pretty cheap.

Same setup as mine except it's zf5 with divorced 205.

I know its not your thing but when you finish would you be able to do a 0 to 75 video?

Just got a zf5 yesterday, curious what you are going to think of it's speed in shifting.

I have about 10k miles on my swap with a 460 and the speed shifting or high rpm shifting is the only thing that I don’t like. Moderate and easy shifting is ok but super notchy. It’s definitely a truck transmission but it gets the job done. Good luck with yours.

@@TheTurnerFarm I'd read that, almost unsure if I should stick with my M5R2 it's great shifting

@@dheujsnrhfydhehehshshhdggsd I have a zf5 in my truck, and personally, I’d say that the only benefits to the zf5 is the low first gear, and the higher torque rating. Other than that, if the m5 is working fine, I’d keep it. The zf5 is very picky transmission and the synchros don’t do very much
