I’m more motivated than ever to get another 02 Denali XL and do this. I bought a beautiful one when I graduated high school in 2011 with the 6.0 and I loved that thing. Uncle Rob brings back memories... Reminds me of a Vega we built for a small local track in Atmore, Al. back in the day and how much trial and error we went thru makin' it faster and faster... I pretty much got out of racing after that til some years later when an old friend called for my help. He mistakingly thought he had time off for a hip replacement and after having the surgery, found out that to keep his point standings with the NHRA, his car had to run that weekend at Hub City in Hattiesburg, Ms... Even though an exploding rear end proved fatal for the car on my 5th pass, (how it didn't prove the same for me is anybody's guess), it was worth climbing back into a race car again... even if just for one evening... I rolled that car at 238 m.p.h., putting on one HELLUVA show for the people there... I left out a lot of the details to keep it from being boring, just keep doing what you do and know that there are some people, from the newbies younger than you, to us old fuckers who just can't do it anymore, that live vicariously through people like you... Should wire a relay to parkers if you CBF setting up thermo fans and don't want to have to plug and unplug fans everytime. Just have to drive with your lights on which is a good practise with darker coloured cars anyway

Brother I been watching this entire build and I'm trying to learn the numbers. I have the 05 Tahoe with a 5.3 and 320000 miles. That motor is soon coming out and a different 5.3 is going it so I can still get to work. The original one however is going to be completely rebuilt with upgraded parts specifically for a turbo build. My tranny is going to precision transmission in Amarillo. Gutted and rebuilt for hp of around 1000. I don't want that much power but I want the drivetrain to survive it. Same with the rear end. Yukon gears and dura grip posi when I light it up.

Hey Mitch! I just wanted to say that it's because of you and your escalade and this channel that I am currently building a turbo charged obs 99 yukon, it's been about 3 months in the making but I am just a day or 2 away from starting it up! Run of the mill 5.3, texas speed cam, valve train goodies etc other then that stock lm7 I just did a basic rebuild on it, hand built the hot and cold side and popped it in. Before you start moving the wastegate’s around I would install a drive pressure gauge to see what it is. Being that, that turbo was designed for that engine platform and you are driving the turbo pretty light you may actually only have 3-4 psi drive pressure while making 10psi boost. If you want to really make it a science channel and get good feedback I would get a drive pressure gauge and you can see how efficient the setup is on the stock pump and then compare as you add more fuel and air. Also keep in mind that’s a 3 psi spring. But if it’s 4 square in and the header tube is only 2 square inch in volume you would actually need closer to 6 psi in the smaller volume to over come the larger surface area piston in the wastegate. So if your drive pressure is in check you may need to run a smaller wastegate for this application.

Waste gate should be mounted where a bend in the exhust tube. So the exhust goes straight into the waste gate
