I've heard a bunch of people say that Roy couldn't actually play fiddle... he was a fine fiddler in the old time style, as this video shows.

There are actually several videos on youtube now of Acuff playing the fiddle. You are correct, his style was very much old-time mountain style.

The name Acuff is considered to be from Yorkshire/Scottish border. Remember that our wonderful Bluegrass musicians are result of Scottish/English/Irish immigration to U.S. mountain areas.

Yes, I'd have to say George Jones is the THE greatest country singer...but there are many others. Jerry Lee Lewis is right up there with George when he sings country songs.

Roy was the greatest country singer of all time. He was also a talented fiddler, though he played little while performing in his latter years. God Bless the King of Country Music!
