Hi, so my stopover program is in a few days and we chose the free accommodation hotel. I’m traveling with my family and I was wondering if they return our checked in bags to baggage claim during my 22 hour layover or do they keep my checked in bags until my final destination?

I went to Istanbul a few years ago & loved it. I also flew on Turkish Airlines which i found enjoyable, they really kept the food coming which kept the complaints to a minimum...

Thanks for the video. I’m flying out next week and is gonna do this stop over as well for 21 hours but I read somewhere that they don’t offer free shuttle to the hotel and airport but seeing this makes me feel at ease to get the hotel.

@whereintheheardistiffany well I didn't get the free shuttle. They told me to go on my own. Took a taxi there and back. But when I tried the tour on my way back I saw that they did take a couple to their hotel. So i guess I was unlucky then but my hotel was close to the main landmarks so I got to walk around that day

I had a round trip but you could do it with a 1 way. I think you could only use the hotel once anyway. @@soniasosa7451

I know I may not be so lucky with a free hotel but I’m happy you were able to get one free and you were comfortable. I would love to visit Turkey and Ghana. The hotel looked nice btw. Looking forward to the Ghana content 😊

No I got my E-visa a couple weeks before I arrived. Yes I didn’t have to collect my bags until I arrived in Ghana. Let me know if you have any other questions

Yes, you are currently exempt and don't need the visa, this video is about 2 years old now.

I’ll be doing a layover in Turkey in a few weeks and will probably be doing a tour. Random question, I always hear that there are LOTS of cats roaming around. Did you see a lot, did they come up to you? I’m trying to mentally prepare myself because I am NOT a cat person 😭😭😓😓

Have fun on your upcoming trip :-) I didn't get a chance to see much of the city.. but funny enough there was a cat at the hotel that put his cat paws on me and scared the heck out of me.. i jumped and he proceeded to stay by me while I sat there.. I tried to shoo him away.. he only left because another guest started feeding him

Yes go to the counter like I did in the video and they will be able to reserve the hotel for free at no cost to you

As an American you only need to obtain an E-visa if you plan to leave the airport in Istanbul.

One way ticket doesn't allow you to get a feee hotel room...even with more than 20 hours layover...unfortunately

Question my layover is 23 hours and i called Turkish airline customer service they told me I won’t get free hotel because there are other flights available to choose if you choose this flight on purpose then they won’t give you free hotel at all, so i am super confused after watching the video and comments can somone please help me out?

When I called Turkish airlines they could not provide any accurate information. If you have a long layover they will give you a hotel as long as you go to the counter after your flight and request one. So you should be fine unless the website states they no longer offer this incentive

They will give u free hotel if it is a "forced" layover of 6-24hrs.. not if u deliberately choose to skip a flight and take another

hi, I have a long layover in Istanbul and wish to enjoy a free transit hotel. I have a few queries. firstly, do we need to worry about the flight timing or the hotel staff call you in time and drop us at the airport? is the food free at the hotel? is there free internet available at the airport and the hotel? do we need to check in our luggage? is it safe? sorry I have a lot to ask cuz it is my first international flight and I want to make all the things clear beforehand. thank you

When you are returning back to the hotel, they will provide a time an you should be downstairs in the lobby by that time. You do not need to call them. Yes, the dinner when you arrive and breakfast in the morning is included free of charge. Is what safe? Istanbul, hotel? If so, I felt safe. At the airport, 1hour of free Wi-Fi is available. The hotel has free Wi-Fi. I hope you enjoyed the free transit hotel on your overnight layover. Hope you have a safe and fun first international flight!

They said they wouldn't give me free hotel because I would have taken an earlier fight which was not available to me at the time of purchase. I also talked to other people and Turkish Airlines wouldn't give them free hotel for whatever reason they had.

My sisters and I will never fly Turkish anything anymore. We flow eco fly from Turkey to Tel Aviv early April of this year 2023. To our surprise we were charged for check in a bag $250, for one person, $270 for the other person and $200 for the third, ands one way. We call Turkish Airlines to see why this was and they said that they’re flat fee for 50 pounds unless is $145 one way. We all spoke English and we could not communicate to them in Turkish we ended up paying to check in a bag per person around $430. You call that a good airline?? Never fly Turkish Airlines ever again. What happened to charging a flat fee! People who spoke their language were not charged anything!, as we communicated to many during the flight! Anyone else experience such charges with Turkish Airline for checked-in bags? And did I mention that on the way bag fri tele Aviv to Turkey that Turkish airline lost our luggage and we didn’t get it until an hour before we flow back to USA! Not a single single apology was offered! No more Turkish Airline for our families!

So sorry about your experience, that is very expensive luggage fees. Was your luggage under 50 pounds or more. For future trips I would adhere to the luggage weight or they will charge astronomical fees unfortunately. . Sorry they lost your bags. Depending on if you have insurance and the terms and conditions, you may be able to file a claim with your insurance. . I do agree an apology would have been great customer service. . Beside the things you mentioned, I hope your trip in Turkey was wonderful.

I'm not sure if you say I'm lying... clearly, I have video proof of which you watched that I received a free hotel. It is unfortunate that you were not able to receive a hotel and airport staff was not helpful. I'm not sure what Reclame Aqui is?? You are not saying what was terrible?
