Hello again from TURKEY! We hope you are ready for another TURKISH STREET FOOD video! Today, we are in the FOODIE city of Antakya (Hatay) to experience delicious Levent style food. Hatay’s cuisine is influenced by surrounding countries, so its Turkish food has its own unique taste. Stay tuned until the end for a Turkish dessert you’ve never seen before!
Our breakfast at Humusçu İbrahi̇m Usta for a traditional bowl of hummus and foul (fava beans). We watched the chef prepare these healthy foods from scratch and he told us that he learned how to make this breakfast in Beirut, Lebanon before moving back to Hatay. It was delicious! Next, we venture deep into the market to try a local specialty known as Tepsi kebab (minced lamb baked in a tray). It was so juicy, flavourful and delicious! Watching the chefs prepare the dish was insane!
Also in the market was a traditional cafe serving amazing künefe and charcoal coffee. The künefe was made fresh and all handmade.
To finish our day of eating in Turkey, we went to an old dessert shop serving the pink Haytali, which is a pudding with rose water syrup. We’ve never had anything like it before! Don’t forget to subscribe to our channel if you are enjoying our STREET FOOD IN TURKEY series. In the next episode, we are showing you the BEST STREET FOOD IN ADANA!

We understand that 100 lira is too much for hummus and foul however we spent a long time filming Ibrahim Usta and he gave us samples of many other things he had. I also spoke with his son on the phone and the whole process was more than 1 hour. We had NO PROBLEM paying 100 lira. Please do not worry about it 😊 Follow us along our journey here : facebook.com/chopsticktravel & instagram.com/chopsticktravel

I was so happy and emotional to watch this as someone who left his hometown (Antakya) for United States about 20 years ago. Seeing some of the streets i grew up on was too emotional. I personally dont know any other international KZbinr/food vloger visiting Antakya before so big ups to you guys not just sticking around in Istanbul like most does. In my opinion Hatay is the best region in Turkey when it comes to food. There are lot more to Hatay's cuisine (especially lot of different homemade dishes and mezes). Again thank you guys for this and this will be great reference for me to show it to all my friends here where i grew up.

hi luke and sabrina, one important tip for minced meat kebaps; it is best if whole mincing (grounding) is done with a cleaver (knife) instead of using meat grinder first! because meat grinder causes the meat to lose its juice and it is key for a good kebap to be juicy! nowadays chefs find it easier to start with already minced meat but you can still find establishments that go with more labor intensive , more traditional approach!

As a Turk, I can say that you have chosen a very good city to try local tastes. Antakya is also the cradle of christianity from where it spread to the rest of the world. The mosque you visited includes graves of some missionary apostles of Jesus who were killed by angry pagan Antiochean Romans. The mosque is dedicated to only Antiochean, a shephard who accepted their message and who was killed as well. Make sure you taste local, home made Turkish food in northern part of Hatay province as well as Arabic food in the south. It was the third most populous and strategic city of Roman republic and second most of the Eastern Rome. So there are hundreds of ruins from Hittite Empire to Hellenistic, Roman and early Islamic architecture, and to Ottoman complexes also with the biggest Roman mosaic museum in the world, several religious centers of eastern christian sects. It is home to lots of waterfalls, mountain streams, mountain resorts, lush green landscape. Antakya is famous for its gentle climate, perhaps the best in Turkey together with Istanbul.

The hummus you eat does not make 100 lira .As a Turk, I was embarrassed that a business gets too much money from tourists. It is haram in Islam to receive more money than it is worth.

Torshi, or turshi, are simple vegetable pickles that add a punch of flavor to Middle Eastern, Eastern European and Central Asian meals. The name "torshi" derives from the Farsi word for "sour," and variations of the spelling included turşu (Turkey), toursi (Greece), turshiya (Bulgaria) and turshu (Albania).

People out here talking bout hummus being too expensive for 100 TL, well I can tell you İbrahim Usta has always been expensive, because he's popular on social media. So it wasn't a tourist rip off, just his regular pricing. Being in Hatay and not going to Ali Mürdüm's place you missed out on the best food you can find in the area.
