Yes, you’re absolutely right. Acidic foods react with aluminum and the metal leeches into the food. Your method to separate using parchment is very clever. MashaAllah. Love your videos!

My husband is from Puerto Rico in the Caribean and his mother and aunt taught me how to cook Puerto Rican food. I would make arroz con gandules, which is rice with achiote (that turns the rice yellow), garlic, oregano, and olive oil in the way for the rice. (The rice cooks about 30 minutes and I use 2 cups water for every cup of rice.) The gandules are pigeon peas, they are like a green lentil, and I would sautee them in olive oil, garlic, salt, onion, and some tumeric as well and more achiote. While they were cooking I would put olive oil and chopped garlic in a pan and brown chicken thighs spicing them with salt, oregano, onion powder and a little bit of tumeric, then when they were browned add apple cider vinegar, chopped tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of plain tomato paste, and water, and leave on the burner until cooked. When the rice was finished, I would combine it in the pan with the gandules. We usually eat that together with sliced fresh avocados on the plate. His family cooked a little differently than the Puerto Rican cookbooks. They didn't like pepper much, or anything spicy. There's a great Puerto Rican cooking KZbin channel called Sweets and Beyond. Ida (the host) cooks more typical Puerto Rican dishes than my husband's mother and aunt taught me. Many of the Puerto Rican stews they taught me take 3 hours to cook, so the chicken thighs and rice and gandules is probably the fastest. Love your channel!

I’m glad you like Turkish food, so do I, but it wouldn’t be fair to say it’s the BEST cuisine in the world. I’m Lebanese Armenian living in the States and I think our cuisine is great too but I wouldn’t say it’s the best. It’s a matter of taste. I appreciate different cuisines in their own right, middle eastern and European as well, but when I’m having Lebanese meze with arak , I’m in heaven. And by the way Turkish food is very close to Armenian food, it’s almost the same, because they have lived together for many centuries...

In 1-hour: boneless, skinless chicken breast fried in butter; mashed potatoes w/ gravy; green beans simmered with red pepper, sugar & smoked meat fat; corn pudding; salad and lemon icebox pie. That can feed 6 to 8. With an extra 1/2-hour, I can add enough to stretch the meal to feed 10 or more.-- This I can do ONLY because my mother taught us that every woman needs to know a meal she can do at the drop of a hat. But my kitchen would not look as lovely as yours. Your organization is breathtaking! Thank you for sharing.

I AM NOT A BLOGGER BUT LOVE TO WATCH EVERYONE COOKING. I AM FROM Belize CENTRAL AMERICA BUT I WAS TOLD THAT I AM FROM TURKISH DESCENDANTS AND IN MY COUNTRY. I WOULD MAKE RICE AND BEANS, STEW CHICKEN, POTATO SALAD, AND FRY PLANTAINS, THAT IS THE STANDARD MAIN DISH FOR DINNER ON SUNDAY, THAT I COULD COOK IN 1 HOUR TOPS. I AM NEW TO YOUR CHANNEL AND I REALLY AM HAPPY TO SEE YOUR WAY OF COOKING YOUR TYPE OF FOOD SO I WILL START MAKING SOME OF THE DISHES. I KNOW WHAT BAKLAVA IS BUT NEVER TRIED IT MAINLY FOR THE SUGAR SO I STAY AWAY FROM IT, BECAUSE I AM DIABETIC BUT GOOD TO HAVE FOUND YOU, I LOVE TO WATCH THE WAY YOU COOK DIFFERENT TYPE OF FOOD. Thank you for this view into a normal meal from your family, it is a true insight, it is very educational to see all the parts of a family meal from an cultural group a particular individual may have little understanding of, like me of Turkish food. Recipes for individual dishes are great, but meal combinations whether small meals or larger are better from my point of view. Thank you .

That looks so fresh and tempting! For a dinner I usually try to think of a theme. Next week I’m entertaining so I’m going to try to make what you made in this video . In the past I have had a French theme.... so I’ll make crepes and fill them with savory things like mushrooms and cheese, maybe a quiche and an apple tart for dessert. A few weeks ago I had an English pub theme....so I made fish and chips and shepherds pie and an English trifle. Your food is the most appealing to me because it’s a good balance between healthy and tasty. Thank you!

Wonderful dishes and a good challenge. Many of us are busy with work and these recipes are a great help. In our home, I do the cooking and even today I put out the frozen mincemeat out to thaw in the morning before we left for work. So Iftar plans are chickpea flour fritters (pakoras), maybe pasta or kebabs with rice for mains and ice cream for desert plus salad. It would be very helpful if you would come up with a series of these simple courses that can be made within an hour or less for Ramadan. Also often we have leftovers and it would be a good idea to show what meals can be made from these. About Aluminium utensils, when they come in contact with water (such as in a pot or bowl) they form into Aluminum Oxide which can effect brain function as Alzeimers desease. DO NOT USE ALUMINIUM UTENSILS and let others know about it. They are cheap and easy to manufacture, especially in countries where there are no proper regulations - I am in New Zealand but even here you find them!

Hi Aysenur, Renu here....all the way from NZ. The dessert that you made is similar to one dessert that we Indian make. It's called 'Shira' or 'Rava Keasri' 'Rava' means semolina and 'Kesari' means safron. It's made as an offering to God to in our Temles - our places of worship. We cook the dry roasted semolina - the slightly coarse variety in boiling water to which sugar is added And there's no baking involved. We do'n use yogurt or milk. Most of our Indian cooking is done on stove top. We add dry fruits roasted in ghee and some people in South India also add pineapple pieces, or banana cubes to this dessert. I like adding fresh or dessicated coconut shreds also. And all lentils are a staple in Indian meals. And I do know the yellow lentils that you used. It's used daily to make dals. dal curries, even for some rice and dal pulao and Khichdi. But I will try to make pulao or pilaf as you would call it in your way.I will also try to bake my dessert once to see how it turn out. I would really like to try and bake this particular dessert that you showed. Thanks for all your yummy recipes. And your cooking style is very nice too. Simple, brief and to the point. Thanks for sharing Turkish recipes Aysenur. Good wishes to you and your family during the holy month of Ramzaan.

I usually make çorba and salata, home made pide bread with baked chicken and side veggies. I also like making potato salad and bread with sütlaç. I love the lahmacun and çorba as a pair. Those are the mains. Your recipes have been helping a lot. Since I left Turkey, I had mostly forgot my mom cooking so I look to yours. It is very similar. My mom from Adapazarı up in village and make very basic like pilaf, beans, corn bread and yogurt things. Our dessert is hazelnuts . The best I love is the börek. She makes with pumpkin, or potato.

Love your videos In one hour I make chicken and mushroom with cream and a side of pilaf rice (like the one you showed) Chicken and mushroom with cream: cut chicken meat better thighs to small cubes, brown in olive oil with butter, the take out of pan. Add to same pan chopped onion then mushroom. When softened add chicken and season with salt, pepper and onion and garlic powder. Add cream or milk and lastly Parmesan cheese till melts and it’s ready :) For desert katayef that I would have stuffed earlier! I am Egyptian. We have a lot of common recipes with Turkey :) Thank you again

salaam alaikum … greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰 love to see your one hour menu. Here in Denmark a traditional course in one hour (maybe a little longer) would be chicken filled with parsley .. heat butter in a pot on the stove and roast the whole chicken in butter. Cover with water, one whole onion, a leek and some carrots. Add salt and black pepper. Boil on medium heat until the chicken is done. Meanwhile boil potatoes, and make a raw cucumber salad.. thinly sliced cucumber in vinegar with sugar and black pepper… serve it with chicken and the boiled parsley from the chicken. As sauce we use the soup from chicken thickened with a roux of flour and butter and a little cream. Normally we have a brown Color to add to sauce (only for Color, not taste), but I think you will only find it in Denmark. For dessert an old danish apple cake … apple slices boiled in only a little water with vanilla. Cooled down it is layered with crushed macarons (or crushed dried cake-leftovers roasted in butter). On top whipped cream.

Everything looks yummmm.... thanks for sharing the recipes... What I usually make in 1 hour of time is lentil curry ( dal), steamed rice, to go with sautéed herbed potatoes, diced cucumber-onion-mint salad & vermicelli in saffron milk as a dessert... a much loved Indian meal 😊

That looks amazing! I am in Australia. My husband's family is from Turkey and I am Afghani. So I will probably make 1) Apple crumble first in the oven (flour, butter & sugar for crumble on top with sliced apple with cinnamon. 2) Honey soy chicken wings (really easy in the oven). 3) Boil Potato and egg salad. 4) Lentil or mushroom soup. 5) and Rice. AFIYET OLSUN!

These dishes look so tasty!!! If I had one hour to cook, I'd make a "Jardineira", which is a meat stew with potatoes and vegetables, a salad with tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers and onions, finally for dessert a condensed milk pudding with caramel sauce. For a fish stew version, instead of the meat one, I'd make a "Caldeirada"...all portuguese dishes 😊
