The winch will work well if you don't use an impact. Because of the inertia of the spool and gear, it will give a lot of stress to that small shaft. But if you use a regular cordless drill, it will work just fine. And be careful of your fingers too! Been there before!!! Thanks Steve!

@@SteveRobReviews i found a six point socket that was the same size as across the flats on the drive bolt. Probably 7/16 or 3/8.. i needed a solid grip so i took some time to do it. With a good bit in a milling machine it would not take long to fix a socket.

@MG38601

This is not going to work. It's a good idea though. The problem is that the piece that you weld on is simply too thin, basically a guide piece for the handle. You need to get a second handle, and cut that piece off of it, and weld it onto the socket. Your current configuration will round out, due to the torque on that thin metal.

Hey why didn’t you just take the nut belong to the handle get another nut and screw one nut tight to the other on the treaded stub on the side of the winch then all you got to use is a socket and your impact gun . Once one nut is locked tight against the other it won’t move and you can replace it with the manual handle anytime you like . Just a suggestion
