Not everyone is a fan of the gallery artwork that appears on LG TVs during signal loss. But there is an easy way to disable this feature through a hidden menu.

Thanks for this. This finally bugged me enough to look into it after almost a year of owning the C1. I use mine as a monitor and when I'm done with it im going to bed essentially. Then BAM! Glaring bright white art if I dont remember to turn the TV off, but I don't like to since I use LG companion.

Thank you. I was having a hard time setting up a a new LG for someone and knew I would regret it when the option to add the art screensaver option during set up with the disclaimer, “you can always turn it off in options.” I remember seeing and spent the last few days back-and-forth with the person. I set this up for trying to turn the feature off. Not sure why they call it a smart TV when you have to know, a secret option of pressing the mute button three times with correct timing like I am playing a game on Xbox or something!

Really enjoying your C2 videos. I have a B6 OLED, which I absolutely love but it has suffered from horrendous permanent burn in. Have the newer models taken steps to improve this? It’s putting me off buying OLED agajn

Thanks, glad you like the videos and sorry to hear about your burn in issues. Not sure what options are on your TV but the C1 and C2 have some very good protection features, such as screen shift, logo brightness and pixel refresh. The risk is low if you watch mixed content or play different games. I’ve no issues after 6 months on my C2 and over 12 months on my C1.

I want to turn off only Modern Art gallery images, but the gallery app does not let me delete it or not show it. I can add more galleries / themes, but I can't turn off modern art. Any way to do that? Thanks.

You’ll probably need an app for that. There used to be one called LG TV Companion. But I’ve never used it. I think an app will help you with what you’re trying to achieve.

I wonder if there's a way to update the gallery images, because I might be easier to add just a black one. It's interesting how my C9 has a colored ball and even RGB fireworks, and a newer B2 has just grayscale ball and no fireworks 😕

So these aren’t photos. These are the default built in gallery art images. They are usually the default screensaver.

The first thing I thought of was to check the aspect ratio of the TV. Should be set to 16:9. But on Googling the issue it seems to be a problem some have experienced over time. I’d be tempted to factory reset the TV, and download the updates again. See if that fixes it. Failing that you could reach out to LG support and raise a ticket/ask the question. The whole idea of a G2 is to be a gallery style TV so I’d be surprised if they removed the frames (it is possible though). Sorry I can’t help more.

You're welcome. I don't think you can for OLED TVs. It's part of the built in screen protection. Might be possible from the service menu (never tried though).

It may be the webOS version on that TV. It may have a more basic operating system than the LG C1, C2 etc. So all options may not be available.
