Until now I was wondering why engines wasn't made of plastic ;)
@NLynchOEcake3 жыл бұрын
I think in theory if you could somehow fit extremely long studs straight from one head to the other the plexiglass would have been totally fine. The problem with this configuration is that the crankcase is structural, so it needs to bear the load of combustion. Every fire, the pistons push down but the head gets pushed up - the crankcase needs to have enough tensile strength to withstand the force of both pistons trying to blow the heads off the cylinder, hence the plastic failing by the area around the bolts ripping out. If the studs could reach all the way through to each other the crankcase would take a negligible amount of force. In this configuration it would have been neat as an alcohol motor maybe.

@@NLynchOEcake I think you also would eventually see heat become a problem.
@NLynchOEcake3 жыл бұрын
@@trollbane66 I think it would depend on if it were crankcase scavenged or not but in this case it appears to have an oil injection setup so exhaust in the case would be less of an issue. There would probably be issues at the interface between the cylinders and the plastic case though, cylinders can get bloody hot and would likely melt the case

@@DatBlueHusky exactly what is it that makes you think that running camping fuel will "make the engine run cooler and smoother"?
@DatBlueHusky3 жыл бұрын
@@johnwyman6126 because i have actual model engines that run on it? Running gasoline is more powerful but creates more heat and runs harder. Camping fuel burns slower and lower heat making it run better. I dont see you having any videos so i see you are just a keyboard warrior lol
@BrokeWrench3 жыл бұрын
A heavier flywheel would make it much smoother. Lowering compression and making it run on oil would slow the burn down but isn't particularly helpful as it reduces power significantly. More headgaskets will also affect the valve timing reducing power even more. Your engines are smooth because they barely make enough power to run. There is a reason they stopped using low compression oil burners once a reliable supply of fuel was available
