I turn 20 tomorrow and have been desperately looking for people who know the pain, nostalgia, sentimentalism, fear, and excitement that I am going through. I have felt dramatic and insane this past week because of how sad I have been and how much I'm grieving my childhood and teenagerhood. I feel like no one truly prepares us for the reality that is growing up. I am so excited to see the places I'll go but I also want to crawl back to the comfort that is just being a kid

I'm turning 20 tomorrow and honestly I'm not looking forward to it. It's like this time tomorrow I won't be able to do shit teenagers can do and I'm automatically in some office working a 9-5. I'm grieving the last few years of my life, especially as I missed out on some stuff teens would do. I used to get mega excited when I got a new toy but buying a new baking tin is the equivalent of that. I just wish I could stay this carefree forever but now I have to worry about getting an actual big girl job, all my friends are getting married and having kids but I'm not, etc. I know it's a part of life but this has probably been the 1st time where I genuinely wasn't looking forward to my birthday, and it sucks

@Darren Stewart that's what stopped too but because i never asked for help and kept everything by myself till i couldn't no more. 5 years apart may seem a lot but trust me when i say they can fly pretty fast and you don't have to figure out your entire life in the course of these years despite what ppl say!

@@workingspace7395 Hi :'), well i had really bad lows but also some highs, life doesn't end when your teen years do, even if that's how it feels like. Tbh i cried, sobbed even, the day of my 20th birthday, it's a scary and weird number after basically being to that 1 your whole life. I would suggest you not to feel frustrated, you're literally still SO SO young, even if your brain (again), tells you otherwise. From what i've learnt so far, your 20s are really isolating, so many things happen around you, you're supposed to be an adult yet still feel the same way you did yesterday, yk when you were a teen. I would say keep thriving but at the same time ponder your time, hang out with your friends and don't feel too down if y'all can't meet as frequently as you did before, you'll get to meet new ppl! For me it was lowkey harder because i turned 20 in 2021 in the middle of lockdown so i basically got stuck a bit, even that it's normal. Don't feel like you have wasted your time, look back at your teen years and yes be nostalgic, but do not live in the past because even if it's true that the feeling of freedom you had in those years likely won't come back you're still a kid in the eyes of basically everyone around you lol (even i get treated like that tbh at almost 23 ....). So my biggest advice would just be, keep living and DO NOT lose hope just because you're not 14 anymore, your life won't end because you're 20 (i learnt the hard way). So have a good life stranger. :'))))

But the unknown is exiting, and making the most out of something doesn’t really mean anything. In the end it’s all about going for it. Trying things out and REST if it’s needed. Thank you for this message of peace and excitement. For everyone who’s turning 20 in this chaotic world, it’s our turn now. I'm turning 20 in 17days and it's making me feel so sad. I'm overly attached to being a teenager, especially being the youngest and the only Gen Z in my family, it's like being a teen is part of my identity and of who I am. I can't see myself as anything other than a silly chaotic teen. What makes things worse is that i have the exact same hobbies as when I was 16yo, i still watch anime, still play video games etc. I did mature a lot of course and I am more capable of making the right decisions now, however absolutely nothing changed about my personality and interests. We have this pressure on us that once you turn into an adult, you should behave in a certain way and only focus on your job etc and it's making me feel so not ready to turn 20. I didn't even fully live my 19yo because I spent the year feeling sad about this being my last year as a teenager. Wish me luck :(

I understand you. I‘m about to turn 25 soon and I‘m still almost exactly the same as when I was 16. I can’t believe I‘m already halfway through my 20s when I was just a teenager yesterday. Worst part about getting older is to lose people from your family. Had my first loss experience ever recently and it’s such a strange feeling. I know it’s the circle of life but that doesn’t make it less painful.

20yo i feel like i'm kinda late at life (maybe because i'm in third world country) even tho i have a good combination of skills, i know copywriting, video editing، trading, some coding and i study petrochimistry engineering at university, i'm very scared and i had goals in my mind to achieve at my early 20s since i was 15 yo (time flies lol, it feels like yesterday i turned 15 but bow it's the hard reality) i gotta work much harder than i used to in my whole life this should be the peak of my performances, I'm panicking rn and feel like i need to work much much harder to get to my dreams.
