Handy information there. I had planned to cut a navy-style, round cornered hatch, thinking that would keep strength in the structure. But I hadn't thought about turning the door into flooring. Keep it simple eh.

Are you going to put some wood around the door frame to strengthen it and also protect against getting cut?

I was planning on threading a bit of hose (cut down the centre) to protect against cuts. We are strengthening that end with the bricks and old fridge on the downhill side. when we finish clearing the wood from the pallets on the uphill side, we will use the pallets to be the bolster for the uphill side. Green wood can be stored on the pallets too. It won't need to be shifted very far when we are ready to put it under cover.
