Rural areas virtually always have lower rates of crime than urban areas.
@KuraIthys7 жыл бұрын
Not really. Though there is some variance, crime rates are pretty much proportional to population. If there's 30 robberies per 100,000 people per week, then in a city of 1 million, that means 300 people are getting robbed a week. If you're talking about a town of 500, or even a rural area with far les than that... Well, let's say you have 10 robberies in that town in a year... How much crime is this, proportionally speaking? Well, 500 people, 10 crime in 52 weeks... 10/52 crimes per week, 500 / 100,000 people.... ~ 0.192 / 0.005 that's 38.5 crimes a week per 100,000 people, which is higher than the crime rate in the city. That's a contrived example of course, but if you put enough people together it might seem like there's lots of crime, but that's only because there's lots of people. For the amount of people there are, crime rates are typically quite consistent, and can even tend to be slightly higher in rural areas than in cities, in general. Crime rates do vary enormously by region though, irrespective of whether you're talking about cities or rural areas. Even different parts of the same city can have vastly different crime rates though...

I do also have a video suggestion (just an idea, not trying to tell you what you should do at all!): - How about doing a series about carbon-carbon bond forming reactions? The main ones, I mean. You could start with the most common / 'easiest' ones and end at the most advanced (but still relatively commonly used) reactions that you can carry out with the equipment that you currently have. Another topic I would love to see, would be selective photochemical synthesis (i.e. Using a narrow-band light source to selectively drive a reaction in a way that would be impossible, or impractical, thermally).

maybe on the next edible chem extract/synthesize spearmint flavoring just an idea would be a nice mix with the wintergreen

NileRed I don't know if i would recommend it. I've looked into it, and most synthesis procedures follow a similar mechanism Link: www.umich.edu/~chemh215/CHEM216/HonorsCup/hcproposal/250__B.pdf

Cut up 2L bottles for funnels, Disposable cups/jars for beakers, cottonballs/coffee filters for filters, eyedropper/baster for separation, temperature controlled stovetop instead of a hotplate(use aluminium foil and parchment paper to protect glass), Computer PSU with a reverse biased diode grounding the purple/grey wire for a power supply, older style hard disc drive platters for inert anodes(worth spending $40 on the real thing though, titanium oxide contamination is infinitely easier to deal with than aluminium compounds). Or just buy an organic chemistry set, vacuum filter, and hotplate from a Hong Kong ebay seller(more reliable shipping than Chinese sellers), all for less than a university course credit fee.

I wish NileRed was around during highschool for me, he makes chemistry look like so much fun, his video's are more pratical and straight forward vs the standard high school chem teacher saying mol this and mol that. Honestly if we could make chemistry more experiment based like Nile's videos more people would be enjoying chemistry.

I would not have ingested that much. I have used it topically. a few drops rubbed into a leg. i was using so much it absorbed into my body and i began to radiate the smell. I stopped using it after that. there was no ill effect. i just smelled very minty. This is a great video. thanks for sharing it!!

I have a question Nile (or anyone else who might know). I ingested about 5mL of something containing 2% salicylic acid (liquid), (don't ask) and surprisingly enough after 7 weeks am still working on recovery. I am heavily interested in sciences and have taken this experience as an opportunity to learn a bit more about chemistry. After the initial ingestion, I drank about 2 glasses of water. They say not to try to neutralize these sorts of things in case of causing additional heat burns from exothermic reactions, but i decided to eat some baking soda after the water to try to remove any possible left over acid in the esophagus. My question is this: did that do anything at all at that point? Make it worse or better? And how would one calculate how much heat is released in a reaction, in general?

Methyl Salicylate is also used as a fragrance in toilet bowl cleaners made with Hydrochloric Acid . I use it all the time, has a very potent smell and never thought it was used as a flavoring.

2 things nile always does since years: 1. Terrible yield for everything(with various reasons[we lied about our starting amount to go to expected yield during training - but it never was that off]) 2. Somethin is extremly stron smelling/tasting "its kinda okay and wears off fast"(see the island vid for reference)
