Drawfee is unironically my hero. A show about positivity, love, and friendship where nobody has to be perfect to be respected or complimented was exactly what I needed growing up. So many good lessons like “it’s ok to enjoy things” “don’t kill the part of you that is cringe, kill the part of you that cringes” “the internet wants to sell you on the idea that things are either the best or the worst thing ever, when in reality, most things are just fine and that’s perfectly ok” “humans are just jellyfish encased in bone armor piloting a meat robot” Drawfee has been more beneficial to my mental health than any therapist I’ve ever had.

The absolutely funniest thing is that Phoenix's name in English is already a polar opposite to his Japanese name Ryuuichi (Ryuu = dragon serpent). Dragons and Phoenixes are seen as opposites in Eastern mythology. That's also why El Tigre's suit has a tiger biting a dragon on it - tigers and dragons are also opposites if not downright enemies, that's why they're often presented as yin and yang.

regarding the "wrong color grading" of sailor moon and dragon ball; they gained these colors because the animation cells were not stored correctly,. thats why some people were arguing about it - its not that its a bad look, people just want the original cells to survive a long time. (fun fact: we've lost countless early movies from 1890-1900 due to similar negligence and lack of care due to them being stored on easily flammable film)

In Japanese, "buraku" is both used as a cool way to say the color and is used as a way to say the race. (As opposed for kuro, the actual japanese word for the color black/darkness.) If Black Lady were to be adaquately translated to English, it would be more appropriate to call her Noir Lady or Lady Noir. Bc "Noir" has that same feeling of coolness to an English speaker that "buraku" does to a Japanese speaker. I guess they also could have called her Dark Moon or something though. (Oc I think the official translation ended up calling her Black Lady anyway... But that's just my thoughts.)

my first sailor moon experience was a friend had bought an unsubbed VHS that someone recorded off the TV in Japan. (Kids will never know what it was like to mail a $5 bill to a stranger you met online on a Yahoo fan board, give them your home address, and trust they'd send you a VHS tape with anime on it and not show up to your home and murder you) We had no idea what was going on, but there were girls being crucified and a little pink hair girl being shocked. So the following year when I was setting up a VCR to record Sailor Moon while I was at school, and I had the slow realization that it was the same show, never to get the Sailor Crucify scene made me think that the unsubbed VHS tape was cursed instead of the truth of the dub just being horribly butchered for censorship.

Finally someone talking about how in the early 2000, tv channels would air episodes in the most fucked up order possible and made watching most foreign shows next to impossible. We only had half of season one of Dino Riders available in Sweden. I know so much of how that show began, but don't even know how the first season concluded. The VHS era was WILD for international shows. Nowadays you get wars in comment fields about which order to watch Farscape, airing order or chronological order.
