"Turning Point 2 / Dreams and Reality / Wake Up and Take a Step"
Rudeus, Eris, and Ruijerd continue their journey when they come across Orsted, the Dragon God. Eris and Ruijerd are stricken with fear and refuse to move, but Rudeus, ignoring their warnings, talks with him. Orsted inquires Rudeus about the Human-God and believing Rudeus to be one of his apostles, attacks him. Ruijerd and Eris try to protect Rudeus but are easily defeated by Orsted, who mortally wounds Rudeus. As he dies, Rudeus meets the Human-God, who reveals that Orsted is afflicted with several curses, including one that makes all living beings fear him irrationally, but somehow Rudeus was not affected. Despite not knowing the Human-God's real intentions, Rudeus thanks him for his help, but instead of dying, Rudeus returns to the world of the living, where he learns that Orsted's companion, Nanahoshi, interceded on his favor and convinced Orsted to save his life and spare him, before the two left.
During the night, Rudeus reveals the nature of the Human-God to Ruijerd, and the fact that the Superd curse on him is gradually fading away. The next day, the party reaches the ruins of Rudeus' hometown, where he has flashbacks to his early life there. Ruijerd then announces that since Rudeus and Eris are strong enough that they do not require his protection anymore, he will take his leave. Rudeus and Eris bid Ruijerd farewell before continuing on to Roa, which is also in ruins. There, Eris reunites with Ghislaine and her servant Alphonse. However, Alphonse reveals that Eris' parents were both killed as a result of the teleportation incident while her grandfather was executed by the king. Alphonse also explains that another branch of the Greyrat family has offered to allow Eris to marry into them to preserve the family line, though Ghislaine is against it. Rudeus later finds confirmation that Sylphie was not found dead, but her location remains unknown to him. That night, Eris enters Rudeus' tent and has sex with him. The next morning, however, Rudeus wakes up to find that Eris had left with Ghislaine to an unknown location, which leaves him distraught and confused.
Rudeus falls into a state of depression, and begins having flashbacks to his old life where severe bullying at school traumatized him into become a social recluse. Meanwhile, Eris has left on her own journey with Ghislaine so that she can grow strong enough to fight Orsted and protect Rudeus. Ruijerd rescues some travelers from beasts, earning their praise despite revealing his identity as a Superd to them. Zanoba and Geese continue on their respective journeys as they recall Rudeus fondly. Gyes and Tona continue to train together in Doldia Village. Roxy encounters Kishirika and helps pay her enormous bar tab. In gratitude, Kishirika uses her Demon Eyes to locate the whereabouts of Rudeus' family, revealing Aisha and Lilia have safely reunited with Paul and Norn, while Zenith is located in the Labyrinth City of Rapan on the Begaritt Continent. Roxy and her party immediately make preparations to leave for the Begaritt Continent. Rudeus is still in a depressed state, but after having a dream about Zenith, he remembers he still has a duty to find her and overcomes his insecurities to continue his journey. Elsewhere, Sylphie tries to convince an unknown group to recruit Rudeus into their ranks.

It's explained a little better in the light novel, but just like how Ghislaine is called a "Sword King" for reaching the king level in the Sword God style, "Sword God" is a title granted to the strongest swordsman of the style who has reached the divine level. We also actually know that Laplace is the "Demon God", Eris mentioned it when talking about Dragon King Perugius in episode 6 of cour 1. Also a concubine is like a second wife. The difference is its not a "full marriage" and the concubine has much less social standing than the first wife.

The arrival of the Dragon god! I like how the anime gave a flashforward of Rudy and co being clapped by orsted. Because when we actually saw him coming near Rudy, we were really scared of him like his "fear curse" affected us.

One thing about Eris’s letter, she still is not the best at writing and couldn’t get her feelings across very well, but because she believes Rudy to be extremely smart she thought that he would understand what she meant. She left on a journey so she could become strong enough to stand by his side, she feels so deeply inferior to him and the turning point 2 only intensified those feelings. The reason she almost “forced” Rudy to sleep with her (it’s in quotes bc in reality Rudy wanted to as well, but that’s a whole different conversation) was because she wanted to do it once before she left for a while. In reality it’s just a terrible misunderstanding, Eris truly loves Rudy probably more than he could ever know, it’s just sad because the way the letter was written, it was very easily misinterpreted. Also the reason she didn’t tell him before hand is because she knows he’s good at conversation and she believed he would have convinced her to stay.

mostly correct, but eris slept with rudeus cause she tried to make him stay with her(after her family died she was desperate to have someone she cared for be with her and she thought that he was gonna go find his mom and now that his job was over he was gonna leave her behind), so she slept with him to try to tie him down to her, but she realized once it was over that she had taken advantage of him(someone who even though he is younger than her has been taken care of her this whole journey) so she felt disgusted with herself and thought she wasnt worthy to be by his side yet. so she decided to leave

Gotta love how Eris was the one suggesting they have sex while Rudy's contemplating it as if he is having doubts in this one. It's also heartbreaking to see Rudy cry for the first time, and it happened when he was left behind by the one he loved. And yes, there will be more seasons, bro!

Total 180 from the show start and we don’t even feel whiplash which means the development happened naturally. The show left out things from Eris perspective like her peeking at him or stealing his underwear. Yes that happened. The story isn’t told from her perspective so it makes sense. I hope the ova recontextualizes things from her perspective. Her love for him didn’t fall from the lips of god as a plot device. This show has amazing visual storytelling but most reactors aren’t looking at social cues or body language which is sad because they do exist. She also said something closer to “I wanna be your little kitten all nya-ight long~

Eris is basically a simp for Rudy but hides it, she just wants to get strong but because she's a tsundere she doesn't tell Rudy. This like you said makes sense because we are following Rudy and his perspective so when Eris left we feel the same shock and sadness he did. Man I love this series

The Man God is an actual deity, while the 7gwp are just titles for the people that are the strongest of a certain race or style. Special note about Eris's thought process from the Novel. Yes she depended too much on him. But the moment she realized that was when they held hands that night. She says "His hands were so small." She's 15, an adult, a warrior, and has realized she has been relying on a child all this time. Not a match right now in Age/Maturity/Independence/CombatStrength. Eris left to get all of that. She will be a child no longer.

@Loki She isn't contradictory with her intentions. You are looking at the word "rely" too broadly. Her definition of "relying too much" on him is leaving everything to Rudy throughout the journey and feeling she never contributed. There is a difference between that and "relying" on his intelligence to understand her intentions. While I do agree that talking it out with Rudy in the morning would've been the better option, especially for Rudy's mental state, what she ended up doing stays true to her character.

You are right, the symbolism on ep 22 is insane, if you look back, at the end of the episode, when Rudeus is walking with the letter in hand he walks past people being with family, everyone around although sad had someone to rely on, he was walking all alone heartbroken, also, (and this is my personal favorite) he walks past small blue flowers named "Myosotis", colloquially named "forget-me-not", these flowers in the flower language symbolize True Love, Respect, a symbol of Fidelity and Faithfulness, they also represent that a person will always remember someone and keep them in their thoughts. The Season Finale always makes me cry no matter how many times I see it, great reaction as always Darius

Them showing everyone at the end while setting up season 2 was really more to juxtapose how everyone sees Rudy vs how Rudy sees himself. They showed how big of an impact Rudy has had on all these people's lives and how much they love, respect and owe him. Meanwhile Rudy is completely oblivious to all of it because he's drowning in depression. It shows how disconnected, hopeless and helpless people feel when they're dealing with depression. Telling them to "get over it and move on" doesn't help at all, same with being overly supportive and catering to his every need like his mom did. At the end it's something that has to come from himself.

@@khizarhayat808 That tends to be a trend in real life as well. A number of people who try to make others laugh or have a good life do so because they're miserable themselves. I see it as "I didn't have a good enjoyable life, but I want you or everyone else to have one instead". Kind of like a sacrifice. To their own detriment, they'll make everyone else happy. A great and unfortunate example was Robin Williams. He always tried to make people laugh and have fun but he himself was suffering from severe depression, hence... the events that lead to his death.

I'd like to share some of Rudeus' and Eris' thought process throughout the episodes that were included in the novels but not made as clear in the episodes. During his meeting with Orsted, the reason he reached out to Orsted is because he talked like he "knew something" about Human-God. Again, recall to the beginning of the episode, Rudeus mentioned he had been forgetting that people could just die in an instant, so weighing out the supposed threat/hate (that Rudeus couldn't sense but Eris and Ruiferd could), vs finally having someone to give him information about the "human-god" (hitogami), to Rudeus in his naivety... well as you saw he was clearly more concerned about getting answers about hitogami. The thing about his attacks (rock bullet and the fireball), I actually hoped it was more clear what he was doing. It was more clear in the novels that Rudeus' thought process into creating those spells were to compact as much mana as he physically could into those spells while also making them as small as possible. For the rock bullet, he literally just shot a bullet (and Orsted being a chad just tanks it, sustaining a more serious injury than I had imagined by reading the novels + in the manga it was depicted as just a graze), and for fireball, he visualized a nuclear bomb or something. It's been quite some time since I read it so I'm not sure of the specifics of the fireball. And the final point I must make is that Orsted is hot. No for real though, I would like to expand on Eris' reasoning for leaving Rudeus. The episode already tells us the important parts. Eris felt too dependent on Rudeus. She noticed this during their night together, when they held hands, she noticed hers was considerably larger than Rudeus'. This reminded her that she was depending on someone that was literally physically less developed than her. Also, the scene where she calls Rudeus strong in the carriage is an important factor to her decision to leave as well. She almost lost her loved one and obviously since she's got the warrior mentality she would blame herself partially. She felt inferior to Rudeus as a whole, and like we saw earlier in the demon continet, felt she was holding her party back. She knew she could defeat him in sparring, but that wasn't Rudeus' real strong point. She was reminded of this when she saw him practicing Ran Ma (or whatever its called); Disturb Magic. Eris was completely in shock from the complete destruction Orsted inflicted upon them, however, here Rudeus was trying to figure out a way to at least run away from Orsted if they are to meet again. This gives Eris the impression that she is not striving enough and reminds her of her dependent nature + her supposed flaws in her thinking. Once she confirms that all her family is gone, she turns to take advantage of Rudeus. Yes, even though Rudeus is a 40 year old man and he though HE was taking advantage of HER, from this perspective it can actually be interpreted (and this IS how Eris interpreted it), that SHE is talking advantage of Rudeus. She intended to make Rudeus want to stay with her forever and marry her, so that she can keep her only family she has left. She was desperate to keep Rudeus within her grasps, and Rudeus actually did fall for it. During their night together, Rudeus actually thought to himself and commited to stay with Eris, get married, have children etc. (Which is why Rudeus got so devastated. This is something I think should have been made more clear in the anime). And we see where this ended up: when she realized the flaws in her thinking, she leaves Rudeus, with a poorly written note, with the determination to get strong enough to stand next to/protect Rudeus, and left our boy with a broken heart. Alright so with the rock bullet, in simple terms he made it spin uncontrollably fast as much as he could which resulted in an immense amount of power behind the attack. For the fireball I’m pretty sure he just added a shit ton of oxygen into the flame to the point that the attack if landed successfully would have blown up and killed everyone there (power of a nuke)

This has been floating around for some dumb reason. You won't get power of nuke by simply adding oxygen to a fireball. Anybody who knows anything about physics/chemistry would know that is bollocks. The spell is, from the ground-up, conjured to be a nuke, not a cheap powered-up fireball. Rudy has known how to do it since he's 6 but won't actually cast it because he'll also get caught in the fire too. He only did it here because he's basically moving on instinct of killing Orsted and fired it off without really thinking.

For anyone not aware, in the manga, during the conversation with Orested, the conversation went on much longer, and as it went on Rudy felt more and more comfortable with him, and actually gained a sense of friendliness from him. The mysteriousness and the fact that Orested new of the man-god lead rudy to believe he finally found someone to share the knowledge with. They cut most of the conversation in the anime so it seems like rudy is a bit more stupid than he is

The anime is following the Light Novel. The Manga doesn't even cover Volume 7, picking up immediately where the anime left off. Not to say the anime covered everything perfectly, but we did miss a few moments in the anime like when Paul was sending an unconscious Rudy off to be a tutor for Eris. Paul was attacked by Sylphy. You could listen an audiobook reading on KZbin If you don't plan on buying/reading the Light Novel.

In an interview the voice actors talked about the languages in the show. Apparently, they genuinely had to learn bits of the languages: Demon-God, Beast-God, Fighting-God. So they definitely went the extra effort, as always. _But_ you may have noticed I mentioned three languages. And only two were used in these episodes. Wonder what that's going to be for? ;) They are 100% ready to make at least a second season.

The thing is MT has EVERYTHING working in it's favor in order to continue. 1. Studio Bind was literally made just to adapt MT and nothing else (as far as I'm concerned). Since MT is it's only IP, I'd be a real short lived company if they only made one season and then stopped 2. The anime community and especially big anime youtubers have been pretty vocal about how amazing MT is and how it subverts the isekai genre I'm pretty sure they're working on season 2 but just haven't announced it yet (for whatever reason). I can see this show being VERY lucrative for Studio Bind if/when they release MT merch. For example, that roxy figurine. My god that would sell like hot cakes.

Even Jujutsu Kaisen which is a shonen so understandably more popular than Mushoku because it caters to a wider variety of audience, took a year before its second season is officially announced, so yeah.

@@astorlefflinker8417 Jujutsu Kaisen is made by Mappa along with some VERY time-consuming projects (chainsaw man, hell's paradise, attack on titan - and even with all of those they managed to produce a movie). So no wonder the second season took so long to be announced (also, it will be the most action-heavy season of any shonen ever, at least from my memory, so naturally it takes longer to make). Mushoku Tensei however is probably already in the making for quite some time, and the studio focuses on it exlusively. So I guess they'll announce season 2 soon-ish (maybe half a year from now?)

We heard about Pilemon Notos Greyrat back in episode 8, he's Paul's brother. The scummy one that there is a covert movement to remove him. Paul is part of the Notos branch of the Greyrats, also mentioned in episode 8. Rudeus knew mentioning the Man-God was a mistake, but in the moment he was just thrilled that ANYONE knew about this mysterious being that had been contacting him. In the novels, the conversation with Orsted before he attacked was much "friendlier" and in Rudeus' eyes Eris and Ruijerd were being "rude" by how they were talking to him. Since he didn't feel the fear from the curse he was quite confused what was going on but never felt a threat until the very end.

This is why I love this series. You of course mainly focus on Rudy, as he’s left alone to lament in Eris leaving him, but you also can understand why Eris did what she did. She’s always relied on Rudy, ever since they were children. He’s younger than her, but protects her and always puts her first. And just when she’d finally believed she could walk side by side with him as an equal, the weight of the worlds strongest crushed her ambitions into the ground. If she’d stayed with Rudy, she’d grow complacent and weak, and wouldn’t be a ‘good match’ for Rudy, which she feared most of all.

There are 2 uses of the word 'God' in the world of MT. One is an actual deity like the Man god. Two is just a title for being the strongest of a certain discipline in swordsmanship, magic or a race. a bit late to explain, but the kanji reading for "god" in man-god (hito-gami) and the "gods" in the seven great powers (dragon god = ryuu-shin) are different, implying that they are different kind of beings. So without spoiling anything, yes, the seven great powers are just titles given to people within the world, while hitogami is a mysterious existence that seems outside of this world (note that while he proclaims to be a god, there are no actual religion worshipping him or even any mention of him in any book rudeus has studied, which is one of the reason rudeus thought he could get more information and dropped his guard when orsted mentioned hitogami)

There are several isekais I like because of certain aspects. Most of the time because they are funny or action packed. But Mushoke I like because of the amazing story telling. Its so different to the isekais I have watched so far.

What I like about MT is essentially everything (yes, even the weird Rudy moments in the beginning). 1. The intro is not an intro and that's what I love about it. Instead of it being just a minute long visual spoiling what'll happen in the show later, it uses that time to world build and it does it in such a peaceful or melancholic way with that amazing song along with just showing the world and people living their lives. This intro has PURPOSE. 2. The world building obviously. The multiple languages, regions, continents, cities and different types of life and creatures in all of the cities is all amazing and completely different from one another. Each place we saw in MT had it's own personality or feel to it that distinguished it from others. The languages is what really does it for me. It adds so much realism that you go to another place and they don't speak your language or you meet a species and they obviously don't know your language. 3. The realistic characters. Sure you have some typical anime tropes like tsundere with Eris, slice of life when Rudy was back at home, but in general, the characters feel real. They have their imperfections and they make mistakes; they're not infallible. Hence why I mentioned that the weird Rudy moments are necessary. In the beginning Rudy was stuck in a room by himself for like 20 years. Of course his outlook on society and people are going to be horrible. His ideas of public decency haven't grown as of that time. 4. The side characters don't feel like side characters. They all their own thing to the story and actually contribute to something for the plot. They're fun. 5. My man Geese... Need I say more?

Was really looking foreward to this reactions, loved all of them! I can also clear up on a few things if you want to(no spoilers ofc) The 7 great powers are people who have "god" in their title, now who is and who isn't a god is something you will find out The reason Rudy talked to Orsted: Like Hitogami explained, Orsted has a curse where he is hated and feared by every living thing in the Six Faced World, but Rudy isn't effected by it since he comes from another world. When Rudy saw Orsted, not only did he not feel fear nor hatred, in the novels he said that he felt a "familiarity" with the man, he compared him to Hitogami as a person that is very knowledgeable and not only that, Orsted's talk was longer and more friendlier twoards both Eris and Ruijerd so to Rudy he just seemed like a nicd guy with a scary face, so he wanted to: a) Find out tf is the mana disaster or what caused it(since Orsted was coming back from Fittoa) and b) Try to see if Orsted knows anything about Hitogami, since Hitogami's whole existance has been not sitting well with Rudy. So when Orsted mentioned his name, Rudy answered immediately because he though he was finally going to get some answers about this uncanny existance

LN "Spoilers" (cuz they skipped it, not sure if it was for gatekeeping purposes for ppl who wouldnt understand it anyways or whatever reason) about Eris train of thought considering the reason she left. This is her actual Eris POV from the novel (after sexy time and before rudy wakes up) : "He was so young and yet he always protected me, he spent the entire voyage healing my sea sickness when we were on the ship, and was incredibly exhausted when we disembarked. compared to that , what was i? i got more powerful, i got fairly decent in swordplay, but i got so caught up in my image of Rudeus magnificence that i ignored how little/small he really was. In the end i USED my anxiety about losing my family as an excuse to FORCE myself on him and treated him poorly in the pursuit of my own desire. I'll say it again, i loved Rudeus but i wasnt fit to be with him. I would only be a burden to him, we'd become family but we couldnt become more than that... we couldnt be husband and wife. Even if we were together i'd just keep holding him down. For now it would be better if we spent some time apart, this thought occured to me naturally. As long as i was with him i'd take advantage of his kindness. The sweet sensations of the night we spent together still lingered in my body, so much so that i acked for it. This was characteristic of the Greyrat family, but unexpectedly Rudeus might not share those as strongly, he was trying his best to keep up with me but at this rate the fierceness of my desire might confuse him. I couldnt do that to him. I had no intention of doing what Alphonse said and "marrying" another man, it was too late for him to tell me to live like the daughter of a noble family, being told to make sacrifices for the regions citizens when i didnt even really know those citizens... had no appeal to me. My grandfather, my father and my mother were all gone, the fitoa region was all gone, what was the point? I would discard the Boreas name, but im still the grand daughter of Sauros and the daughter of my parents, and so i would live on with an iron will. Im going to get stronger, i resolved, i would part with Rudeus and keep training. I wouldnt stop until i could stand side by side with him. I didnt have to be able to defeat him, but at the very least i wanted to become a woman who was befitting of his stature. One who wouldnt have people whispering behind her back if she got close to him. I didnt have Rudeus shrewdness, so instead i would seek power. Ghislaine, Ruijerd and Geese said i have talent with the sword and i'll trust their words. I'd follow Ghislaines recommendations and go to the sword sanctum. There i'd become a powerful precise swordswoman. A swordswoman me and a magician Rudeus. The traditional pairing was the other way around, but both of us were fine with that. We'd grow, get stronger and meet eachother again. Then we'd take the next step in our family and become husband and wife. I'd have his kids and we'd live happily ever after. Now then... how should i go about telling him goodbye? Rudeus was an excelent speaker, no matter what i'd try to say he might stop me. He might try to come with me because he was worried about me being alone. Perhaps i should leave a note, but knowing me i'll probably leave some trace behind when i did so, he could use that to track me down and it would be a mess. He needed to move forward, i didnt want to keep holding him back, at times like this its was best to act like the swordsman in all of the stories and quietly leave. But Rudeus was always going on endlessly about reports, communication and disccusion, i didnt want him to hate me. Alright i will leave something short then surely Rudeus will understand."

its a bit confusing the way things are named. but basically theres a rank system of abilities being beginer, intermediete, advanced, saint, king, emperor, god. You can reach god level in one or more styles of sword fighting or magic even. so a normal human or any other race can be a sword god or magic god for example, this is only referring to the rank youve reached. the seven powers are the most powerfull entities in this world and technically you can become one if you are powerfull enough even while not having any specific technique. lastly there are 7 deities that are actual gods from different planes of this world, hitogami (man-god) being one of them. Its a bunch of different things with the name god on them... On top of that the three different sword styles or techniques also have god in their name, Sword god style, Water god style and North god style. so you can be Advanced rank in Sword god style or god rank in Sword god style while not being a deity nor one of the seven powers (the guy that trained Ghislaine is rank god in the Sword God style and also one of the seven powers, but not a deity). Again, it makes things a bit confusing but hope it helps understand it a bit more. the only thing im not sure about is if Orsted is an actual deity or not. But dragon is not a technique so its fair to assume hes the deity of dragons and 2nd in the wolrd powers
