Can't wait for mine to get here Tuesday! I'm installing one along with some 4.10 gears, hope I can get a nice launch after I put those in.

Did u take to track and spray it on this 7.5?
@mobiuswolf7 жыл бұрын
You need to stiffen those springs dude. You'll get a lot more control sliding around. Thanks for the demo. I'm going to weld my worn out spiders. Engine sounds badass. :o)

I have a 91 4x4 4.3 and I'm looking at getting a a new diff. I wanted the g80 but couldn't find my specs. 26 spline 7.5in I don't know my gears but I'm looking for the best of both worlds. Open diff and locked. What's the best bang for my buck.
@theredneckchevy1009 жыл бұрын
you could go mini spool? or if its not your daily you could weld the diff, I have the g80 In mine now whilie wanting it to spin it spins both or if I dont mean to spend only one turns. mine is also 4x4 I was stuck in the mud a few months ago and into I really laid onto the gas only one would spin but say I hit the gas hard both would kick in,
@nickbenderer30869 жыл бұрын
+theredneckchevy100 it's my daily so welding is out. I go off-road a lot and the snow too. So I was looking for something I can beat on and would stand up but also under 450$. I'm not sure what to look up. I haven't see any 91 with a locker. I want to have both spin but not all the time.
@theredneckchevy1009 жыл бұрын
best bet would be the g80 shoulda came with the truck? look in the codes in your glove deperment. I know it comes in handy when I have mine on trials in 2wd and one tire gets off the ground
@nickbenderer30869 жыл бұрын
+theredneckchevy100 no it doesn't have one. It's open diff. I think the g80 would be perfect jut worried about blowing it up. I've heard some things like people pulling boats out of the water and blowing them.

I plan on drag racing my 1980 gmc 2wd drive its a 1500 has a 12 bolt gm i want 3.73 gears with a mini spool in the stock carrier and the engine is in the 400 ft/lbs will a mini spool hold up with street slicks and driven frequently?
@harpin54577 жыл бұрын
cheesmbrosproduction..... you should be fine as long as you don't use a sticky tire and refrain from continus hard launching. i have had a similar setup with no problems with the spool and gear parts of my differential.
@cheesmbrosproduction7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input dude ill just get some 295/50 15 street radials instead of cheater slicks to avoid to much stick, Would it hold up to slicks at the drag strip?
@harpin54577 жыл бұрын
cheesmbrosproduction ... that's perfect actually. i had 275/60/15 with 3.42 gear, they held up just fine. stay safe out there buddy.

When you don't have more power than that, why don't you save yourself a ton of grief, and money down the road and just install an Eaton Trutrac? You're far below where a spool is needed when it comes to power and on a dragstrip a Thorsen style diff will lock with only 400 lbs. If you really want that fully locked sensation on the street, just get a Spartan locker.

Stock axles ? And would you recommend someone to do this on a 7.5 rearend ?
@fast2doorchevy8 жыл бұрын
yes stock axles. and yea as long as you drive smart especially in the rain you will be good i dailyed mine for over 2 years
@AB-80X7 жыл бұрын
LubMaRk1 How much power are you running? That little 7.5" is not up for much and neither are the axles..
@unicornsteaks67696 жыл бұрын
How bad was the tire wear?
@32Mark_6 жыл бұрын
Just a little stock vortec with headers carb distributor. Nothing to strong for the rear that’s why I’m thinking it wouldn’t hurt 🤔
@CobosDoesItAll4 жыл бұрын
How does it handle on the street
@FATBOY55398 жыл бұрын
When u installed what all did u remove spider gears and is that all what about the shims and clutches
@PHILLY2148 жыл бұрын
what clutch's?
@sergeantspeed59418 жыл бұрын
+hittin-low_150db+ some rear axles have clutch limited slips
@PHILLY2148 жыл бұрын
+Sergeant Speed then if you have a limited slip why go for a spool there useless on the street
@sergeantspeed59418 жыл бұрын
+hittin-low_150db+ cheaper, stronger, better for the strip. you can have a occasional drive on the street without it being unbearable
@fast2doorchevy8 жыл бұрын
useless on the street ?? mine was very useful on the street.. i daily drove it for over 2 year and never had a single problem
@goodinsrt88 жыл бұрын
So I have a firebird with an open diff that I only drive in nice weather a few times(if that) a month, this seems like an obvious choice over a $500 locker.
@fast2doorchevy8 жыл бұрын
+goodinsrt8 yea im still driving this daily in florida.. where it rains every afternoon. also hitting it on 150-200 shot with 28x10.5 e/t drag slicks

U can hear the tires break while turning. Not going to chance it with a costly part like a rear end.
@fast2doorchevy9 жыл бұрын
i have been running stock 3.42s with mini spool for a year with a nitrous 5.3 and have had n o problems
@of_lion229 жыл бұрын
Using a mini spool would actually strengthen the rear end since it replaces the spider gears. With the 10 bolt you need as much strength as you can get. The only real concern would be snapping an axle and sending a wheel flying. Most importantly, with a spool I would hope you'd hear the tires chirping in sharp maneuvers, if you aren't there's a problem ;)
@dragonsink69889 жыл бұрын
NCD2294 hahaha yeah no kidding. Most people are just to scared to try something new and unknown to them. Ive ran several and never had a single issue other than goin thru tires faster
@sojer6mile9 жыл бұрын
It's not new things and the ring is what fails the most on 7.5 10 b bolts. Just spend the money on a tru track. Why not use the proper stuff? U wouldn't use a long socket and a pipe wrench to R&R head bolts
@of_lion229 жыл бұрын
But, if the goal is increased traction a mini spool can do the same job as a Tru-trac for around 1/5th the cost. I agree, a Tru-trac is far more sophisticated and will ensure you don't risk snapping axles while parking/making u-turns. However, as you stated it still doesn't fix the 7.5's real weakness, the ring gear. No matter what, with sticky tires and a good hard launch it's still not gonna stop the pinion from trying to push the ring gear sideways and eventually break teeth. Also, a Tru-trac would help prevent cracking the carrier since a mini-spool retains the weaker, cast open carrier.
@AB-80X7 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you just get a an E-Lockeer or Air Locker?
@unicornsteaks67696 жыл бұрын
Mini spool is much cheaper. Like $100 vs $500 - $1000.
@thejakein78673 жыл бұрын
Why are you filming the inside wheel?? The outside wheel is the one scrubbing.
@nicks77833 жыл бұрын
If all the vehicle weight is loaded on the outside tires during a turn, why would they lose traction and skip/scrub before the inside tires, which don't have the weight of the vehicle on them and don't have as much traction?
@jayplat32610 жыл бұрын
So u can turn with a mini spool cool i can get i now
@fast2doorchevy10 жыл бұрын
yea most people tell you not to use them but i havent had any problems and some of that was full lock turn and does fine
