I've got back into dancing this year and my turnout is so bad! I always struggled when I was younger just because of how my hips are but because I'm out of practice I'm awful! Can't wait to try these! Although I am no where near middle splits, yikes, she's a few cm from the wall and I'm like a metre

I've never had the best turnout due to my funky hips. I was born with hip dysplasia, so my hips have always been crazy tight. That's partially why I couldn't pursue a career in ballet, as much as I wish I could have! But, as a ballet teacher now, I want to be able to actually DO the exercises with my students, not just tell them what to do. I'll definitely be taking advantage of this video A LOT for myself!

At 4:50 Lola new she could do a complete straddle split which might explain why straddled against the wall SO INCREDIBLY FAST to get a "WOW" reaction out of Claudia!!! Such an amazing dancer and I can't keep taking notice of her incredibly strong legs even in tights! Strong and flexible quads are an amazing thing to work for. Don't lose the flexibility Lola!

Hi Claudia, I know you won’t see this but I am a big fan. I really love your videos and you have helped me so much ! Every time I was sad or no feeling too well I would go on KZbin and watch your amazing videos. I am now on pointe and in December I am doing a competition on pointe! I love your journey and I once went to royal ballet too but only in JAs because I am French and I had to leave England because of Brexit and COVID. I did the Paris opera auditions but I didn’t get in because they told me that I was 9 and a half years old so I was between two auditions so I couldn’t get judged so I had to wait next year. Hello Claudia, can you make a video or give tips to get on pointe? I struggle with getting on pointe because instead of getting on pointe, I jump on pointe especially on Relevé. This causes me to get exhausted easily and lose my strength to continue dancing. I try to avoid jumping but I always notice myself doing a slight bouncing motion when I get up even on my leather shoes.

The thing is that there are no hacks for real turnout which makes dancing ballet stable and safe. All these exercises and hacks are actually not useful as turnout is something that depends of the work of the whole body and of the correct placement of every part of the body. Doing exercises with a band won't help with having sustainable turnout. In order to improve the turnout, the total engagement of the muscles in correct position is needed - so the engagement of butt, core, legs and back at the same time. And it's the question of strength, not stretching, as it's not possible to stretch yourself for turnout. Period.

The stronger each of these muscles are the better you will be able to engage them all at once. And just like there is no turn out without strengthening, there is no turnout without stretching.
