When I paint metal I just get a bit lazy and grab a silver metallic paint and call it finished
@piratemagetjalf64772 жыл бұрын
Metal isn't exactly my favorite part, either. And I have to confess, I did pretty much the same thing for a very long time - far longer than I care to admit, actually! :D But at some point, drybrushed metal started to look too flat compared to the rest of the miniatures, and I had to do something about that. So I started adding browns and black to the undercoat. :)

Nice job what kind of brushes do u get mine I have they split alot or don't stay straight and been trying to find out what brushes would be good to use also have a space wolf gunship that I haven't painted idk why I bought it i don't play space wolves lol
@piratemagetjalf64773 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm using Winsor&Newton Series 7, sizes 1 (main brushwork), 0 (detail work) and 000 (eyes and finest details). They're expensive at some $12 per brush, but they're totally worth it. You have to handle them with care, though - make sure no paint enters the ferrule, and be sure to wash it every once in a while. After completing a paintjob, carefully wash it with brush soap. There's like a thousand ways to ruin a brush, so I suggest you do some research to increase their lifespan before investing money in it. :)

For me painting yellow is my favourite. Can do so much with yellow!!

In fact paint the area brown or purple first. Helps a lot with coverage and shading if needs be.

This model looks great! What bitz and model kits did you use for this build? (Torso, shoulders, etc)
@piratemagetjalf64772 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the belated answer, I've been busy taking care of our newborn the last eight weeks. :D The basic model is an assault intercessor. The torso is rather heavily converted, with a sculpted wolf decoration and a wolf pelt from the Grey Hunters box added to the back. The shoulders and the weapon are from the firstborn Space Wolves upgrade kit. Actually, no, the right one is from the Mk III set. Only the one with actual SW insignia is from the upgrade sprue. Finally, the head came from the Wolf Guard terminator boxed set :)

thin downed Averland sunset, or Averland sunset Air, will do wonders for painting yellow, the only real yellow paint i have found to do the jobb well, and i have 100+ yellow shoulder pads =)
@piratemagetjalf64773 жыл бұрын
Wow. That's a lot of shoulder pads :) Technically, a single yellow paint will probably be absolutely sufficient, especially if you're doing some shading in advance. I have a buddy who's currently experimenting with glazes, but that's not my cup of tea... Yet. :)
@Brissebrajan3 жыл бұрын
@@piratemagetjalf6477 try using only averland sunset, sometimes you will need 3 thin coats to get an even coverage, but compared to painting brown then a few yellow coats, i say its better to just paint 3 thin coats of averland. Then if you want a really bright yellow, just paint 1 or 2 thin coats of you bright color. I just use averland sundet, and casandora yellow wash. highiligt with screaming skull. Dont worry about the rim, i paint that last, just being really carefull to not ruin the yellow. and if i need to add contrast between the yellow and the baby blu rim, i just carefully add agrax. I have something like 200 painted space wolves, used to struggle with the yellow, and used different "base" colors, but not any more. =)

way to good! - personally not a fan of the snow on models.... they look good alone, but on the table top where there is no snow it looks like someone spilt glue all over the bottom of the models
